I am in some ways but I'm not in others. ... it's hard. I like all the people who have made friends with me and take care of me, I'm actually growing up after being stuck in time for 7 years, my mom is here, I'm dating a guy who likes spending time with me and who I like spending time with, and I have a horse. I also have a superpower that lets me be really good at something, which gives me a lot of pride. My life is pretty good.

At the same time... I'm aware that I'm not where I should be a lot, and I miss Dad, Gene and Louise. It's like something's missing without them being here, and I hate feeling that way because it also feels just a little bit like that's saying everyone I've befriended here doesn't matter just because they're not related to me- and like I'm saying Mom being here isn't enough. I'm also afraid that if they DO get here, they won't recognize me and won't love the person I've become. Which is stupid, becase Mom doesn't treat me any differently, and it's not like I'm not still recognizable.

And I've had my eyes opened to a lot of things that can't be taken back. I had to face the fact that the boy I thought I'd spend the rest of my life with might not have been so great at all, for one. That was hard, and I still feel like an idiot for not seeing it and not being able to fully let go of him yet. Now that I'm growing up and may be stuck here, I have to start thinking about my future and what I want to do with my life. And there was all that stuff that happened in January...

But overall? I am happy. Things are different here, but that's not a bad thing, and I've seen and met so many people I never would have otherwise. I think that balances out all the bad stuff.

I think it's hard to be separated from your family as years past and you grow older and change. It's... lonely. And I don't know, uh, what I can say to comfort you. I can't speak to anyone else's feelings, but... if the situation was reversed, do you think you would love them any less?

Yeah... especially because we've always been so close. I wasn't sure I'd be able to get along without them. I HAD to, but it was hard.

No, I wouldn't. It might take me getting used to the new them, but I would love them just the same. I think Louise might be worried I was replaced by a pod person if she heard about my issues with Jimmy Jr., though.

In that case, I wouldn't worry. Unless Louise is... particularly devoted to this Jimmy Jr. person, I doubt her befuddlement will last long. I don't think you've done anything worthy of losing the love of your family.

It's more like... my crush on him was such a huge part of my life, the fact that I'm getting over him would be really weird to her. Maybe to Dad and Gene, too, come to think of it.

So, uh... is there anything that me and the boys are missing? Some kinda thing that a kid your age should really have that we're not so great at providing?

I can't think of anything. ... really, you guys have done a great job considering most of you have never had kids before. You give me space when I need it, you listen and take my problems seriously and give me advice... you don't even barge into my bedroom or read my diary or anything like that. It's nice.

I'm real glad to hear that, Tina. I keep thinking we must be missing something, but if that's the case? We'll keep on truckin' on.

And we'd never read your diary. Who does that?

I think Mom fills in anything you'd be missing, anyway. She knows me better than anyone.

My sister. She means well, though- she gives me constructive criticism on it. I think Mom peeks at it, too, but she never tells me if she does.

That's just how Louise is. ... I mean, it does bother me a little, I guess, but I'm not going to stop her from doing it. ... that doesn't help my case at all, does it?

But if it bugs you, why not stop her from doing it? That doesn't make a whole lotta sense, kiddo.

I mean, even if I asked her to stop I'm not sure she would. Or she'd do it when I wasn't around and not mention it.
