Well...yes, I suppose. My mother was a knight, and my father the ruling Exalt...and both roles require quite a lot of skill in combat. Even if they weren't, I always had an interest in such things myself.

What drew you to it, if not your parents?

Hmm...

Well. I...I suppose the stories. Tales of our ancestors -- noble heroes and warriors, fighting great evils as one, protecting the innocent and bringing peace to their homelands... I wanted to do that, too. And since I had no head for studying magic spells and the like, and my parents both brandished steel... It kind of became inevitable. Our family sword passed to me just as inevitably; I more or less had to take it up eventually, interest or not.

What were you fighting?

[It almost sounds like a fairy tale, the way she's talking. It's not too often you hear someone talk about good and evil like that, not these days anyway.]

Ah... [well, fairy tales were seldom fun in their original form.] The end of the world, more or less. And all that entails.

Actually...the outcome was pretty clear. Is...pretty clear. My time is over, and the world will be left barren. The divine dragon herself there was no salvaging it.

We did what we could...as much as we could. But there's no stopping it. All we can do now is go back and try to reverse it, give the world a different future.
