Shirou Emiya | Fate/Stay Night (UBW)

02

[Just wearing jeans, a baseball tee and a jacket, Shirou looked more like a jogger, or at least someone about to do a bunch of housework, than a super hero. He was befuddled by the waving and cheering, looking around instead to glance at the people who had been walking alongside him. Assuming the cheers were for the other imPorts, Shirou stopped and gawked at a young boy as he shoved a baseball at him, begging him to sign it.]

Excuse me? I'm--I don't look like a celebrity, do I? Actually, I'm not really into baseball, either.

[So, he was just being awkward and trying to shoo away the young boy, who was insistent and begging.]

You should go back to your parents... Really, come on?

[To say Shirou was surprised by what he saw was also to say that his eyes resembled giant saucers, fixated on nearly every ridiculous thing floating past him and radiating as if they were straight out of a sci-fi movie. Shirou took awhile to get used to it, realizing that looking like a dumbstruck idiot forever was only going to screw him over in the long-run, taking awhile to pause and look at how people were walking around so he could follow and do the same on his own.

In the middle of this people-watching, he noticed a young boy run out into the street, chasing a bouncing ball. He stopped as a car turned the corner, its untires unscreeching before hurtling in his direction. Shirou, without hesitating at all, rushed to save him. He grabbed the boy and shoved him before the car struck him--only to take the hit for himself. Shirou spun, landing on his back flat against the pavement, feeling fortunate that his mind could work much quicker than his body. Fortunately, he managed to reinforce his midsection and limbs, but spinning through the air a few times made his head rattle.

So, he laid there, hoping another car wouldn't come as he checked to see if the boy was alright--which he was. Smiling despite himself, Shirou nearly passed out right there on the pavement, only prevented by the throbbing in his head.]
