TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.
Margaery Tyrell ❀ A Song of Ice and Fire
[She had only turned away for a moment and suddenly she was surrounded by light.
The last thing Margaery recalled was Cersei's frantic cries for Tyrion's arrest as Joffrey's body stilled in her arms. It still seemed so surreal, it had been their wedding day and one moment Joffrey had been taunting and cruel and the next her new husband was gasping for breath, clawing at his throat as his mother ran to his side. None of them had been able to do anything as the king had gasped a final, painful lungful of air before his bloodshot eyes were staring lifelessly at the sky. There had been no time for her to process it, to understand what she was going to do next before a stranger was smiling at her and encouraging her to please, step this way.
The roses which adorned her silk and lace wedding gown rustling as she followed along, keeping her composure with wide eyes as she took everything in. She stepped out into the warm Florida sun once the car door was opened for her at what she vaguely heard was her new place of residence, but there was no time to ask questions, as soon as she had taken in the new sight and turned around, the car had zoomed off, leaving her alone in front of the house.]
B.
[There was still so much she was not used to in this place.
Margaery found herself a few days later walking down one of the streets of Heropa, she was used to getting attention where she went so anyone who called out to her was given a smile and a wave. They never would have known that she was missing her family and was concerned for them in such a perilous time.
What a malt was, that she was not sure of but it was still kind of the shop to give her something for free. She thanked the clerk with a bright smile before taking a seat, picking up the straw curiously.]

It's not until she's collected her drink from the counter and surveys the room for a place to sit that she spots the other teen, her eyes widening. She instinctively tightens her grip on the cold glass, otherwise she might have dropped it in her shock. She spends a long moment staring, looking rather like a deer in the headlights. It's too late to flee from the shop; if Margaery has already noticed her, then trying to run could only complicate the situation. ]

Sansa! I must say it's such a pleasant surprise to see you here of all places!
no subject
She has not even considered the possibility that Margaery could be from a different point in time than herself. ]
Yes! Oh... I was not sure that I would see you again...
no subject
I am very pleased to see that you are well and unharmed in this place, Sansa. [She said with an earnest seriousness, she hadn't even had time to see where Sansa had gone to in the instant after Joffrey's death, all she had seen was her grandmother's calm expression before she had arrived. She knew Sansa had suffered been due to Joffrey's cruelty yet she could not begin to suspect the girl had anything to do with his death.]
Have you been here long then?
no subject
You as well.
It's been... just about two months, I believe.
no subject
But that's not the important thing at the moment, Margaery leaned forward as she took a small taste of her malt.]
Do you have a good life here, Sansa? I do hope you are able to be happy.
no subject
Yes, actually. I mean, it's still quite... strange, but there are many people here who seem to be genuinely kind.
[ She tries to think of subjects that are less likely to lead to depressing thoughts. ]
And there are so many types of food here!
no subject
They will eventually have to discuss unpleasant matters but now isn't the time, she leans forward as Sansa talks, interested.]
What is your favorite? These, malts I believe? Are quite delicious! I was told this favor is strawberry though there were so many choices.
no subject
[ Honestly, she's not quite sure how Margaery will feel about the entire situation once she has had time to let it all sink in. She has no doubt that there are many people here who will adore her, but it is not the same as being queen. Sansa was surprisingly relieved to learn that there is no such thing as royalty and nobility in this country, but she is unsure if Margaery will see it the same way. ]
I have not gotten around to trying all of them yet, but the raspberry one was quite good. There is another shop nearby that sells frozen lemon drinks that are wonderful.

That time already, is it?
[ he says to himself, turning on his heels to take a curious look. luckily (or unluckily) for Margaery, Loki was still decked out in his armor and long jacket, golden headpiece and all. ]
Oh, hello. I take it the Porter at least decided gift you with your threads. A bit of an inconvenience for the ... [ he waves his hand dismissively in the air. ] Hot ... sticky—ah, shall I say it? Downright gross weather.
You'll have to forgive Florida, it leaves much to be desired in the realm of humidity.
[ so he turns on the charm. usually imPorts were disoriented, but this one looks like she's seen a ghost. ]
no subject
The weather is quite humid, though I suppose it cannot be helped. Florida is indeed a strange realm though I thank you for your welcome, ser. Might I have the pleasure of your name?
[If he's going to turn on the charm, two can play at that game.]
no subject
Loki of Asgard, well-met.
And to whom may I share the pleasure—ah, who seems to have ... come directly from some form of celebration? Call it a guess. That's a dress for a very fancy party.

[Margaery's expression did falter then as she looked down, her eyes downcast. There were no tears though, yet her expression could be read as someone still in shock as she looked at the roses along the train of her gown. She was still in shock though, Joffrey's death had been unexpected and now she was not sure what her position was or what was going to happen now.]
You are very observant, I have indeed come from my wedding. It was an extravagant affair [her grandmother had certainly seen to that.] though our joy was cut short due to the death of my new husband, the king, during the feast. At least, I believe he is dead, I was not able to go to his side before I was brought here so unexpectedly.
no subject
[ well, that was certainly a thing. he can't really say that he entirely regrets being nosy, but it's still a bit curious as to how she'll take to the double trauma. she's disoriented, but not a mess that he'd expect. ]
A blessing or a curse that change has taken you.
no subject
[Margaery looked appropriately respectful at that, though her thoughts were moving forward to how she would survive here. Joffrey was dead and back in King's Landing- she had to focus on the here and now.]
Perhaps you would be so kind as to show me inside? [Margaery asked with a polite smile as she stepped forward. Wearing such a heavy gown in this heat was not the most pleasant experience.] I would like to get to know you, Loki of Asgard.
