TEST DRIVE MEME

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Well, I'm not bound to a bed, so it's something.

[ Said plainly. He felt bad, of course, for the guy. He was dying, and Kaidan was getting better. Hell, he had died. Kaidan hadn't been there, but when Shepard returned to the Normandy, there'd been something in his eyes about that. He could see it. ]

But yes, I'm much better.

Arashu be praised. [It was a genuine comment, if only polite. He doesn't know this man, but he knows he is, or at least was, a very close friend of Shepard's. He can show him proper curtsey.

Besides, manners have been hammered into the Drell's mind all his life. He isn't capable of not being polite.]

You've reconciled with the Commander, then?

[biotically]

Ah, something like that.

[ It wasn't 100% true. He and Shepard had...things to work out, of course. Things that weren't going to be fixed with a simple...talk or two. They had to work things out for themselves.

But that took time, and honestly, while he was willing to move on, Shepard wasn't. ]

We're talking, so it's something.

[chancetoatone]

[The Drell inclined his head in a slight nod of agreement.]

Indeed. Keep talking. Shepard is a reasonable man. You seem to be as well.

[biotically]

Yeah, well, we'll see. You know how it is with Shepard. Sometimes he doesn't like to talk back as much.

[ They all knew that one far too well. }

He will when it matters. [And here the Drell pauses for a moment, as though collecting his thoughts.] He took the loss of his original crew very hard.

[biotically]

[ His grimace said it all. ] I'm sure. We took our loss hard, too.

[ He'd been dead for two years, after all. Kaidan had perhaps been a touch overdramatic, but it had been close to losing an arm. ] Things will get better, it just...ah, it takes time.

[chancetoatone]

I understand. Shepard is a man who endears himself to everyone on his crew in some way. Losing him could not have been easy.

[His expression is sympathetic.]

[biotically]

Yes, well. He's just one person.

[ IT WASN'T LIKE LOSING AN ARM!!!! ] Tough, but we move on, except he...didn't.

[He raises an eyebrow ridge in confusion.] "He didn't?" I don't understand.
