TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[Okay sure waking up in a weird place was not on her list of Things to Do today but by now she's realising she may have no choice in it. Clearly, that means, her next priority is trying to find everyone else. Yang is the first to come to mind which is why she's frantically ran from the car as soon as debriefing has ended (that poor agent, to be honest...) and starts yelling Yang's name over and over. Weiss and Blake's names are in there too, of course, along with Jaune, Pyrrha, Nora and Ren's names but it's Yang she needs to know is okay first.

Sadly, her attention is broken when she sees a car zoom past. It's not a plane, that's easy enough to see, but the technology is certainly... out there.]

Hey!! Hey-- [Ah, there they go. Too late. She frowns as she glances around, her own hand hovering towards her back just in case and that's when she sees the flying skateboards. All hope is lost, really.]

Oh gosh they look so cool! Did you make them? Do they have other functions? Can I try it?

[No one let her try it...]

[It's taken a few days but she's slowly gotten used to what this place can be like. She's half accepted what's going on, and while she's really happy to be considered a hero, the attention is more than she'd ever wanted. Saving and protecting people was one thing, becoming a celebrity was another entirely.

Thankfully, it's that frame of mind that helps her act quickly when that hovercar comes zooming forward. Her semblance is speed, so it doesn't take her any time at all to unhook cresent rose and let it click out into the scythe. In what seems like a flash it's dug into the ground and Ruby uses it to spin around, putting her weight into slamming her feet into the car.

Sadly, she only considers the kids on the skateboards and not anyone else strolling around the area too. As the car flies back she looks on in horror as she realises the damage she's caused. Oops.]

Are you okay?!

[At least she looks guilty...]

[Blake looks as Ruby assaults the poor locals with all of her questions. She needs to act quick if she wants to keep the damage down to a minimum.]

Ruby?

[Okay, that's a decent enough start. Now how to follow it up?]

What are you doing?

[Good enough.]

[Nailed it... or so Blake would think.]

Blake! Hey, do you know where everyone went to? [Without getting an answer, however, she carries on. If Blake's here, surely everyone should be alright as well--right?]

Have you seen these things? They're like weapons and transport combined. Have you seen anything like it? I wonder if you could attach a gun underneath so maybe we'd have faster ways to travel without getting tired but also a way to keep ourselves safe.

What do you think? [Her excited gaze shifts back to Blake--someone isn't taking this seriously enough.]

Ruby, no.

[Big sister senses set tingling, it didn't hurt at all that Ruby could yell pretty loud when she wanted to. Walking out of work, still dressed somewhat conservatively (for her standards, at least) Yang snaps out a hand to stop her sister from walking off the sidewalk toward the boarders- right in front of an oncoming car.]

Seriously, I doubt it's been an hour. Slow down on the possible heart attacks, okay?

[Then, of course, without any other warning, she swings right in to pick her up and swing her around, squeezing her tight.]
