TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.
Re: Clementine | The Walking Dead
In the meanwhile, she's trying to keep out of sight and out of mind, but she kind of draws attention, and has slipped out of the malt shop as inconspicuously as she can, right before she bumps into the kid.
The kid looks spooked.]
Hey, munchkin. Running from the cops? [It's a joke.]
no subject
Whoops! She had been looking at her surroundings so much she'd forgotten to look at what was right in front of her, gasping and taking an extra step back in surprise when she bumped into Fang. She scanned the woman quickly, almost checking for obvious weapons as she responded cautiously. ]
... No... I was just...looking around.
no subject
She's not going to draw a weapon at a child either, but she takes Clementine's anxiousness for an ordinary sort of fear of the unknown, and not anything else, so she doesn't realize she might be frightening.]
Yeah? Are you new here? [With some reluctance, she rolls up one of her black sleeves. A digital tattoo is inked there. No need to be frightened, she's hoping to convey. She rolls down the sleeve again, after a moment.] Maybe we're in the same boat.
no subject
and she had about thirty seconds to answer before defaulting to silence! She could lie and try to bluff her way through, or she could be honest. ... It was only when Fang showed her the tattoo that Clem relaxed even marginally. ]
... yeah, I'm new, ... ..I'm Clementine.
no subject
She extends her hand to Clementine.] It's good to meet you, kid. I'm Fang.
no subject
Hi, Fang. ... is... that real?
[ "that" being the bigass lance. ]
no subject
She takes a step or two back, to take the spear off her back without hitting Clementine on accident.] Oh, you bet. I've had it a good long while.
[She kneels down a bit.] Live steel, see? Ain't it a vision? It's got my name on it here, [She indicates one of the blades,] in my language.
no subject
...Yeah. It's..really cool.. what language is that? [ Well she didn't recognize it, but she hadn't been in school in over a year soooo... ]
no subject
[English, dude. She could read it, somehow (which was weird), but it looked so clunky.
Her showing off completed, she thinks to ask something else:] Are you here all by yourself? Seen anyone you recognize?
no subject
.. it looks fancy. [ But it made the weapon look cooler, so she approved. A shadow fell across her face at the question that followed, and she fell silent for a second. ]
No, I'm alone. There isn't anyone here from home.
no subject
[Ah, but that's worrying. A kid all off by herself...Fang was no good with children (she thought, anyway), but even she knew better than to leave one that looked as young as this one by herself.]
All by your lonesome...hm. [She stands back up again, to her full height, and puts her weapon away.
After a moment or two, she rubs the back of her neck.] Ah, damn. I'd feel bad if I left you by yourself. If you don't mind tagging along, we'll find some place to sort you.
no subject
It's okay. I'm fine by myself.
[ Although she preferred the company of others, so she certainly wasn't against Fang helping out. Assuming she wasn't leading her into a trap. ]
... where is it? Is it ..safe?
no subject
[She smiles — it's fond around the edges.] One is a woman named Lightning. The other is a boy -- a man, named Hope. Both of them have been here longer than I have. I'm sure they'll help you find a place to stay, 'til any friends of yours shows up.
[After a moment, she adds:] Light's a bit of a stuffed shirt, but she's good with kids. We won't let anything happen.
no subject
I've heard that before.
[ And then everyone dieeeeeeeeeeeed. Or probably died. Or half of them died. Point is, everyone dies around her. ]
None of my friends will show up anyway. And I don't have any money. [ And she's not giving them her stuff. So what else would they want in return? ]
no subject
Money? [A laugh, very brief.] I don't need your money. Neither do the others. Hell, if I needed money...
[She probably shouldn't tell a 10 year old kid about marks and pickpocketing. Fang clears her throat.] In any event, I just want to make sure you don't get into any trouble. I've got enough on my conscience. 'Least I could do is get you sorted, or find you something to eat.
no subject
... Okay. Where do we go?
