TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.
SCREECH
Awesome.
He bids the family a goodbye and pushes off on his toes, pulling up beside the other speedster a second later and keeping pace.]
Hey dude, welcome to Heropa! How's your kidnapping treating you?
HIIIIII
He does veer to the side as soon as it's safe to do so though, skidding to a stop and waiting for KF to do the same. Wally's question might get an answer in a few seconds, but for now, hug incoming.]
You're here, too! Not surprising I guess. Seems like the whole team's here. [And switching gears.] Kidnapping? You mean this whole inter-dimensional traveling thing they've got going here? It's all crash. [Except kind of not. Oh well.
He pauses for maybe half a second, pulling back slightly and squinting up at Wally.] Huh.
[He looked younger than the last time Bart had seen him. Maybe not something to mention right away though, right? Right? Keep acting like this was totally normal and... letting go now, before he's actually pushed away.]

...except it sounds like he does know him, so yeah Wally will just assist him in letting go before taking a step back, hands on his hips.]
Okay. Looks like you know me, so I have a speech prepared, ready? [He clears his throat.] Uh, "Hi, I'm Kid Flash, I'm from the end of September in 2010. We might meet in the future but I don't know you, so please refrain from being offended, as I am temporally disadvantaged and/or concussed to the point of amnesia. Thank you for understanding."
[He gives a little bow.]

[But there are more important things to consider, like if he's thrown the entire timeline off by already having met KF. Bart shrugs, feigning nonchalance about the entire thing. Might as well throw in his own introduction then.]
Know who you are. Not what date your from, but yup you're Kid Flash. Wally West. [He gestures at Wally before pointing his thumb back at his own chest.] I'm Bart Allen, grandson of Barry Allen. Impulse. And I'm from the future. Sooo. Who else is here?
[Who else would have no idea who he even was? And how could he prove it here, except. Oh. Right. That file they'd given him when he'd first gotten here. Maybe that would come in handy after all.]

That's what I said. About the grandson part. Not the Kid Flash part. Don't wanna reveal too much about the future, you know? [He's skirting around the answer a bit, but if pressed Bart figures that he can say that Wally isn't Kid Flash in the future. It's the "why" that he doesn't want to have to say.]

Where do we start?

We start with all the places around here that are all-you-can eat, and work our way north up the east coast, [KF points out with a grin.] You're pretty lucky you ran into me, honestly.
