now don't be rude

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Other angels... Killing mankind? Why?
[It flew in the face of everything she knew about them, even if her knowledge was limited. But, she'd been wrong about vampires, why were angels so different?]
Okay so they just possess people? That's rude. Mustn't be fun. For you either.

[Michael leaned towards her, as if he was telling her a horrid and dirty secret.]
It was supposed to be my job, but I refused, and our father left. [He leaned back, sighing.] In turn, the other angels blame me and the humans for his abandonment.
[The archangel had never told anyone all that, at least not all in one sitting or to a person he'd just met. Maybe it had something to do with her being a vampire.]
Are you casting a spell on me? Is that how you are getting me to talk?
[Michael was watching her, ready to base the entirety of their future together on whether she knew he was joking or not. It was so little a thing to decide if they would be friends or not, but it felt suiting to him.]
no subject
[Her head cocked, puzzling over his words. God left, they blamed him and he was supposed to have... Well that changed things, Victoria now all the more curious about this Archangel. One brow arches in mimicry of an old character she loved.]
Fascinating.
[His question summons a smirk and she leans instead into his space, peering up at him. He was watching her back, gauging her reaction and she chuckled.]
I don't think your will so weak to fall beneath my compulsion. I must be just that pretty.
[Jokes rested upon their delivery, and hers was spont on. Just the right amount of dry and self deprecating tone to sell her amused smile. ]
no subject
[That was a bit of a sore spot for him, too, but one he would never completely analyze. He kept his ground, not moving away as she moved closer.]
I guess not. But you could do that? On someone weaker willed than myself?
[His head was canted, finding her reaction to him to be exactly what he had wanted.]
Your beauty doesn't play a factor in this. I was thinking the connection was something deeper.
[Even though she'd been joking, he was quite serious now. He appreciated that she could discern his particular type of humor, but he still was curious as to why he was so open with her.]
no subject
Jealousy is not becoming of celestial beings. [A slight frown crosses her features.] Why did you stop?
[A pause and then a slow nod.]
Compulsion we call it. Not entirely common among our kind but... Useful. [Victoria looked away, leaving his space.] I don't like using it unless I must.
[His compliment brought a soft brush of heat to her cheeks, which was a surprise unto itself. ] Haven't been called beautiful in a long time.
[Looking back at him, the vampire studies his features with as much thought as he regarded hers. ]
I can't say. Maybe it's because we're both strangers in a strange land. Maybe something else, Michael.
[There could be something. She hasn't felt so comfortable next to someone that wasn't her daughter in years.]
no subject
[The last few words spoken as if he was echoing the words of someone else.]
I had been wrong, all those years. I gave my father what he wanted, not what he needed.
[Michael hadn't realized that he'd said she was beautiful, the words a mere slip of his tongue.]
You are. Strangely so. [That didn't sound quite like a compliment, but it was. There was something about her that was uniquely attractive.]
Maybe we were just destined to meet here, and become friends.
[While still uncomfortable with all of this, he was feeling more at ease than he had in decades.]
no subject
[Her lips quirk into a soft smile.]
My. Not many people run their lives by that philosophy any more. Do the right thing.
[Holding his gaze her own odd eyes, unnaturally bright, she inclined her head, almost like a subtle bow. A thank you. ]
You're not so bad yourself.
[Destined. That was a funny word to her. made her feel closed up and trapped in a box. Humans were destined to die and yet here she was... No longer human she supposed, but alive.]
Perhaps. I wouldn't say no to a friend.
no subject
Doing what is right, isn't always easy. That's the rub, I suppose.
[He averted his gaze, watching a small group of imPort fans rush by.]
Thank you. [A compliment in return of his own, which was well received by the archangel.]
Then it is a friend that you have.
[It wasn't typical for him to be so friendly, but maybe it was being in a new world, that wasn't in the middle of an extermination war, that had him behaving in a softer manner.]
no subject
Bitte.
[She smirks, dropping her gaze away looking down at her gloved hands, resting on her lap.]
Good to know. Most people I think wouldn't take so kindly to a vampire joining the neighbourhood.
Usually there's flaming torches. And pitchforks.
no subject
[Michael smiled a bit, though he was completely serious.]
It seems, the stranger or more noticeably different we are, the happier and more excitable they are.
[It made things a little uncomfortable, but it wasn't anything he wasn't used to. A few decades surrounded by adoring humans had made that part of this a little easier, and gave him the skill to know how to handle their attentions; no matter how unwanted they were.]
[ooc: I keep wanting to write a certain way, because I keep on forgetting that our characters don't know each other here. DAMN our AU, just kidding, I love it.]
no subject
[She shudders, but there's a smile curving her lips.]
Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't in the freaking sun.
[She throws a scowl up towards the sky.]
Vampires are nocturnal. We don't so sunshine.
[ooc:asdfghjkl; Darn it. Silly lovebirds. XD I love our Au. ]
no subject
Does it hurt you? Or more of an inconvenience?
[Knowing little of vampires, Michael was uncertain if she was in pain or just uncomfortable with the light.]
I could accompany you into one of the shops, if you'd like?
[Or they could stay where they were, either was fine with him.]
no subject
[Her shoulders lift in a shrug, but she does stand, pulling her coat closer around her.]
I'd like that. Maybe I could buy you a drink.
[She turns around enough so he could see her face, lips curved into a smile that was both warm and a touch suggestive.]
no subject
[He noted the smile, and all it implied, and nodded, a light smile of his own in response. Michael stood, straightening out his jacket.]
What do you drink? [She was a vampire after all.]
Is it something they carry in that shop over there?
[A wave of his hand towards a nearby building, but he was looking at her intently.]
no subject
[Something in her pocket rattles as she digs her hand in, pulling out a bottle of pills.]
They have substitute. So anything will do.
[Putting the bottle away, she starts towards the closest crop of buildings.]
Why don't we go find out, hmm? What do you drink?
no subject
I don't have a favorite beverage, but certainly not blood.
[His tone was light, and he was looking away from the vampire so she couldn't see the humor in his eyes.]
That looks like a good one. [Nodding towards a shop.]
[He really had no clue if it was, but it was close and it would suit their needs.]
no subject
[She chuckles, dark and amused.]
I should hope not. Not good for something like you, I imagine.
[Her hands tuck into her pockets as she walks, stepping into a quick smooth stride as she walked for the shop Michael pointed out.]
Then let's take a look.
