now don't be rude

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

    02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

    03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

    04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Casca ⇒ Berserk ⇒ 4

[Her nerves had been frayed already before arriving in this strange new world, but that was of little consequence to those who had brought her here to begin with. They overlooked that she stood out of place next to a stranger who seemed familiar—even bored—with the device they'd been given, and overlooked the armor she wore in favor of civilian clothing. Casca knew what those things meant; she was not wanted for her specific talents, she was wanted to be a body.

If she weren't so dizzy from ceremony, weren't so numb from a bizarre tattoo upon her wrist, the demonstrations of powers she'd witnessed, and then being turned out into a city she knew nothing of, she might have taken more offense.

After all, she was so much more than a body. Actions, of course, spoke louder than words, and her decisions would be what defined her in the end. And her first act?]

LOOK OUT!

[She had seen metal chariots before. They could cut through armored men before they had a chance to scream. What short work one would make of a mere boy...

She pushed off the curb and ran into the street, her arms encircling the waist of a youth before she rolled with him to safety. No sooner had they crashed into a tall pole that the dark chariot raced by, kicking up a dense, foul-smelling black smoke where they had been standing. Following in hot pursuit were two other chariots, both wailing at a pitch that made her cringe—but she had been successful in her attempt to save the boy, and that was something.

Or it had been until he wiggled free of her arms and said with a laugh...]

Thanks, imPort! That was cool!

[Before she could respond, the child was running off to join his friends, the works of them looking more excited than afraid.

And Casca? Well, she just looked...confused and slightly dirty. What in the world had just happened?]

( yuuki had already been here for a few days, trying her best to be a semi-decent hero. it wasn't that she didn't like helping others out, if anything she tried too hard when it came to other people. the problem was that she had her own issues back home she had to deal with and most of her powers had been taken away here. all she was left with was the ability to use her scythe, artemis, and a pair of fangs.

still that would not stop her from doing heroic [but lame] duties like saving cats from trees or helping the elderly cross the street. today seemed like a great day to be more heroic; what with flying hovercrafts being chased by the police and young children being present to the danger.

she had been running after the vehicles with artemis, trying her best to reach the kids before the vehicles did. fortunately for her, it seemed as if someone reached them just in time. it was a good thing too; she was breaking a sweat already.

once yuuki reached casca, she took a deep breath and glanced at what she was wearing for a moment. she soon spoke up. )

Are you alright? Thank you for saving that kid.

I...

[Casca glanced down at the scuffs of dirt upon her thigh-high leather boots, her breastplate, and her leather gloves, then back up at the woman standing before her. The scythe Yuuki carried wasn't as alarming to Casca as it might have been to an ordinary woman; she carried a sword upon her own hip. If anything was startling, it was the girl's face: youthful, with big round eyes that looked as though they could see everything.]

...yes, I'm fine. [Brushing her knees off, she rose to her full height. At mention of the boy, her dark-eyed gaze wandered in the direction he'd skipped off in with his friends.] Are the children here normally that wreckless?
