Bart was closer than friends, a brother and more, and Kon grinned as he stepped up to his friend. "Fun place to stand."

And he leaned in to gently kiss his friend on the lips, a quick kiss, and then over.

"happy Holidays, dude."

Kon's comment has his eyebrows going up in confusion as he tries to figure out what he means, and then he's kissed, and that just has his brain going to a screeching halt.

"Uh...uh..." Then the words sink in. "Oh, gods. I didn't notice."

He's blushing in that way only a fair-skinned redhead can.

"Its cool, Bart. Anyone who knows you will know that. I figured I should be the one to tell you."

He clapped his friend on the shoulder gently.

"The mistletoe thing is weird. I mean, it's a parasite." He still doesn't really get it, even though he knows the tradition and origins from reading.

"But thanks."

"It's a silly old tradition, but it can be fun." His grin is mischievous.

"With the right person. Got anyone in mind?" Bart really doesn't.

"Maybe. Not sure. We'll see how the evening goes."

"If Rose were here, or Carol, maybe. I've never really been good at looking. And then I end up standing next to guys like you and Tim." Bart's used to being overlooked by everyone except the people who matter.

"Bart, you are one of the best looking guys I have ever seen, me and Tim included. Never let yourself be sold short, okay?"

This time the poke to Bart's shoulder is a little less gentle, but still just a poke.

Nobody puts Bart in a corner, not even Bart.

Bart knocks the hand away, gently. "Fine, not saying I'm ugly or anything. Just that I'm not the one people normally notice. It's no big."

Because he doesn't really know what he'd do if he got involved with someone, especially here, where who knows what would happen. Not that it was less likely for shit to get crazy back home, but this Earth seemed to really go for the strange and hard to deal with.

"Hmm, I know. People are idiots."

He shakes his head. "But I am glad you're here, anyway."

"Me too, bro. It's just not the same without family. Even ones as weird as ours."

"Exactly." He grins. "I even miss Rose, despite how much trouble she would cause here."

"She wasn't all bad. You never met her before...well, before."

Sometimes it was hard to see all the damage her father had caused, but he could still see her as the girl he hung out with at Titans Tower East when he was still Impulse.

"True, that." He knew he had missed some things. And he wished he had known her, then.

"Hold on," David says when he notices the mistletoe over them. Just busy coming back from the kitchen with more snacks for gaming. Stupid fucking plant. He kisses a gloved palm and presses that against Bart's lips. See. Kiss delivered.

"I swear I didn't put it up," Bart feels the need to say. He hates that powers get in the way of just being people, and this one? Definitely not a thing to put up around gaming nights.

"Yeah, I know," David chuckles. "You're not like that. But doesn't mean we couldn't deal with the tradition in our own way, around friends."

Because David was good at improv.

"Try getting ambushed when you're still learning about this strange new holiday," Bart said. He'd never had a normal childhood. What little he had was in a virtual environment that mostly focused on keeping him entertained and engaged.

"We're good, right? Well, unless you need help with snacks..."

"I think we're good," David agrees. "Can you grab more sodas? I wanna see if we can push through this dungeon before getting up again."

"Sure. Let's go for it." He'd run, but that risks agitating the soda, and getting covered in foam is not a good thing while playing video games and hanging out. "Be right there."

David, meanwhile, reaches up and plucks the mistletoe down from the door frame. There, all fixed.
