[David flinches back a little shocked and flustered.]

"Uh... I am. Like, I'd really not like to think I'm just Loki-nip."

Loki just responds with a slight tilt of his head and a slightly raised brow. No, he doesn't entirely get that one.

"I thought you insisted on the term friend."

"Oh, we're definitely friends. It's just... There was this awkward thing with the Loki I knew back home."

[tricksterofasgard]

"What happened? Did you kiss him and he tried to kill you?"

Because he can totally see something like that.

Nope. Not even. David sighs and shakes his head.

“New Year’s Eve. He sorta asked to be my midnight kiss? This was after his magic had gone crazy thanks to a serious self-inflicted guilt trip and nearly killed us all, of course.”

"What a hopeless case."

Loki muses aloud. Of course he will judge a different Loki. Because as far as he is concerned, he is better than any of them. He shrugs.

"Well then. As I harbor no intentions of forcing you into anything, David, it sounds as if we will be facing whatever curse this dead plant will have befall us.

David winces at that wording. Fate, Loki, and mistletoe? Nope. Too unlucky for him. After all, Midgard lore said Loki used the plant to arrange the death of Baldur. Refusing the kiss would probably be super bad luck.

“No tongue.”

That change of mind is unexpected, but Loki will not complain. Though he does of course recall what David had told him about his powers which is why he raises a single brow.

"I might ask the same."

Though there is a hint of playfulness in his tone, Loki is still intent to keep this brief as he steps closer and with a single finger under David's chin yet without actually touching the other man gives the indication for David to raise his head slightly.

At least they are close in height.

“At least we agree on avoiding that sort of unpleasantness,” David shrugs. And of course, tilts his head up. If nothing else, he is agreeable.

Under normal circumstances, Loki might want to argue that choice of words. Maybe after.

He leans in and captures David's lips with his own before permitting himself to close his eyes for the moment. David will find that Loki's lips are cold and come with the slightly tingling sensation of ancient magic just as all of the Asgardian's less aggressive touches do.

Chilly, but definitely an experience. One that makes David pull back after a moment to touch his lips.

"Magic? It stung like that."

Loki isn't preventing David from pulling away, but takes the move as a good enough moment to step back himself, blinking once before giving a half-shrug and clasping his hands behind his back.

"You know what I am, David." He says, matter-of-factly. David has known without Loki having to tell him.

"And I assume you are also well aware that you are not looking at the face of a Jotun."

[Dude, he rolls his eyes.]

Yes, you're a prince and you have magic. That didn't mean I expected your kiss to taste like it.

I'm a Frost Giant and by no means could look like one without using an illusion even if I wanted to. What you got a taste of is Odin's work, not my own.

It appears I overestimated your knowledge.

[ Said with a raised brow, but Loki refuses to show his slight confusion. ]

My mother taught me her magic, that is true. But Odin put this spell on me when he found me. To hide the monster he brought back from the war on Jotunheim until it might prove useful.

It's not a spell I can break.

[ Not that he has ever tried. ]

[Back home people know and respect Frigga. And she's DANGEROUS. A warrior and witch and David's a touch more scared of her than he is of Odin.]

I see no monster. I see a handsome prince.

What you see is a lie. The first lie Odin ever told to me and he didn't even need any words to do so.
