( Rikki opens her mouth to greet Jane when she sees her, but then Jane speaks up and Rikki's eyes shift upward.

She wrinkles her nose and gives a little dismissive wave. )

Oh, don't worry, mate. I won't be offended if you'd rather skip it.

( She's not opposed; it's not like she expects Jane to sweep her off her feet for it. She's just also not all gung-ho about it, either.

Rikki offers Jane a little smile. )

Don't feel obligated, if it's weird.

[ When he spots her, Superboy grins, and nods

And walks up to her, takes one of her hands, and then kisses her. It is a quick kiss, and almost, almost, a chase kiss. But not quite.

And then he steps back and nods again. ]

( The kiss takes her off her guard, especially because it's not exactly chaste in nature. For a moment, she looks back at him with widened eyes and pink cheeks, eyebrows lifted with surprise. )

Wow, all right, thanks, mate.

( She gives a nervous little laugh and tucks her hair behind her cheeks, looking up and noticing the mistletoe belatedly. That explains a lot, actually, and she relaxes a little. )

I keep forgetting that's a thing I ought to keep an eye out for.

It does give people an excuse to kiss you if you're under it.

[ He chuckles but shakes his head. ]

If I didn't already know you, I probably would not have dared.

Yeah, I should pay more attention.

( Rikki laughs a little in spite of herself. )

Why, am I that intimidating?

( She's actually kind of proud of the idea of being intimidating in that way and it probably comes across in the semi-hopeful tone. )

[ He grins at her and shakes his head. ]

Not intimidating. Just... you are my friend. Normally, I tend to avoid anything that would chance messing that up.

Yeah, I know that feeling.

( It's very much the reason she's never really let herself think of he or Rupert as anything other than passingly and objectively good looking. Anything more than that would make her life a lot harder, given they're her friends and flatmates, and she'd really rather not. )
