i apologize for breaking the cycle of cats
It's been a few months, and since I've seen a bunch of people working on their cr charts, it's time for...
THE TL;DR CR MEME

♥ post with your characters - if you have a lot, consider a catch-all/nested comments under one header
♥ respond to other people's characters with your characters
♥ they tell you in detail what their character thinks of your character, ic or ooc! tl;dr is encouraged.
♥ then you react if you want!
♥ other people do the same thing to you!
♥ BONUS: use this for your cr charts, or link them if you've already got them written up!
♥ flagrantly stolen from the last time we had one of these, which was in turn taken from others... just roll with it

SO, Jaime knew of Armin before he actually spoke to the guy. He saw his announcement, and while he thought it was a teensy bit passive aggressive, he found it to be very useful, just as he found it to be, well... disturbing. He had already heard bits and pieces of Armin's world via Annie, but there's nothing like setting it out in plain black and white to really impress the dire nature of the situation upon a guy. So while Jaime may not have said anything - what would there be to say? Wow, I'm sorry your world is shitty, my life is pretty swell? - Armin had absolutely caught his notice.
And then he hears Armin doing something else that's far, far more ambitious, but more than that, practical and useful to the imPorts as a whole in a way that general platitudes and unfocused rage at the government isn't, which immediately puts him in his good books. Handing out clothes might not seem like much, but as someone who had gone provided for up until now, Jaime is totally seeing the appeal... but again, that conversation went downhill in a hurry.
Put simply, Jaime feels terrible for Armin. He's a bleeding heart, and even if he's inadequately equipped to help Armin, he's going to try his damnedest, even if that just means texting back and forth and just being... present. He can tell that Armin's a very logical thinker, which isn't something that's particularly useful in his circumstances, so Jaime figures he can eventually impress that upon him because he's optimistic (and sadly easy to emotionally manipulate). go team go.
