if she could choose any one thing? she'd ditch her human form, be a troll all the time. it would be more convenient for her, and she could stick more visibly to her roots and culture instead of having people raise their eyebrows when she tells them she's an alien.

more than that, any time she's had to force a change has always been unpleasant.


what does she like most about her universe, now that she's heard about all of these others?

Mostly? That her people are there. She doesn't have a real attachment to it beyond that. But she also likes it because it's relatively normal only SUPER POWERS EXIST. Also she still wants to find her parents. She hasn't given up.

How exactly does Kanaya shop for make-up considering that they don't make anything gray colored? Does she even shop for make-up in the first place?

it's always been one of the biggest struggles for her, having two different skin tones and one of them not naturally occurring on earth. luckily, she's always been good at diy, so making her own isn't beyond her capabilities.

the real hard part is switching to one while wearing makeup for the other. she tried going light for a while, sticking with eyeliner and lipstick, but even at her lightest these days, she still needs concealer under her eyes anymore. to combat that, she's had to find other workarounds, getting a better handle on her stress and how it affects her transformations, planning ahead which form she plans to arrive anywhere with, thinking about how she can do quick touch-ups in a pinch as the situation demands.

it's complicated, but she does what she can to manage it.

her life is busy and stressful, her ideal date is honestly staying in and cuddling. maybe with a little blood involved.

and it's not so much the religions themselves (even tho some of the stuff is kind of funny) but that it hits a lot of the same astrological history as all of the other religions and they're just having a party rn bc of what's popular. it's kind of like laughing at the new kid.

does kanaya do the whole winter versus spring versus summer don't wear white after labor day fashion thing? or is she less traditional in her taste?

harvest moon, or the closest clone she can get for her phone. sunbathing, because two years in the void is hell when you're solar-powered. anything to do with dogs, she fucking loves dogs.

She enjoys listening to music! There's so much variety and it's so accessible now. She'll listen to about any genre, but she gravitates toward jazz and oldies and some pop. She likes watch quiz shows sometimes, too, it's a quick way to learn stuff about the world.

She's still figuring out who she is and what she likes to do in a lot of ways, but she's more prone to trying solitary activities than going out and doing stuff. If someone could get her out there more she'd probably enjoy going to dance or fishing on the beach and stuff like that.

Elsa's hobbies are hard haha she keeps to herself so much...

What's Kanaya's favorite human food?

she can be pretty bad at keeping up her solid diet, honestly. when she does, it's usually something light like salad, maybe a sandwich. eating is rarely an indulgence for her, not when her liquid diet is rarely anything close to her favorite, and she hasn't really found something she really likes so much as what she'll bother eating.


does elsa have any goals for the future, things she wants to do while she's here?

Has Kanaya changed in any way during her time in-game, personality or otherwise?

well she's about nine inches taller and four years older than when she first first arrived three and a half years ago.

but more seriously she's come out of that time more jaded, and on various occasions had to reexamine just where her problems with self-worth lie. but reexamining doesn't mean she's exactly conquered those problems, she's just altered her position on them somewhat, drawing back and better weighing how worth it anything she might throw herself into is.

the downside of it is that she cares for others easily, and strongly, and having to draw herself back means she's had to become meaner, more guarded, holding them at a distance before she can get attached. her last moments in the city before arriving in the cape canaveral porter involved her friend nepeta dying in her arms, and this after nearly a year where their relationship had deteriorated after kanaya withheld the fact that nepeta would die at home. coming in on the other side empty-handed devastated her.

she's scared to let people close, because she knows she's just going to lose them eventually. but being just as scared of leaving them unprotected, she's determined to fight for anyone she can when the need arises. few things are as important in her mind as security.


for light, what kind of longterm goals does he have in game? any kind of plans he may be working toward, possibly on the sly?

ah, that's great. I love reading about how people's characters have developed after being in game for a long period of time.

As for Light, he's somewhat in a state of limbo when it comes to long-term goals, which is strange for someone like himself. It's a foreign kind of feeling, mostly a consequence of the fact that he's never completely shaken the feeling that he just doesn't belong in this world.

Not that that's given him a lack of things to do or more immediate goals to accomplish: he's pretty determined to finish university in the least amount of time as possible, and continue his work within the police department. If he really has to be stuck here for that long, he might as well align his long-term goals back home with his goals here -- in which case he hopes to continue his career in criminal justice the best to his abilities. Full steam ahead and all that.

There is, of course, the fact that his real long-term goals of being Kira (becoming god, killing murderers, being kinda crazy, etc) have been erased from his memory; though there is a lingering feeling of doubt about his role in all of that back home, due to a few instances that actually took place in Heropa. It isn't enough to diminish his confidence about it, not completely. But it's enough for him to possibly do a bit of research into anything relating to memory if it ever comes up, or if things within the game setting calm down long enough for him to approach that.

Other than that, I suppose another long-term goal is one shared with many other imPorts: the desire to find a way to return home. As it turns out, this is leading down a very investigative type road that definitely pings his detective-like instincts. It's something to keep him distracted and something he wants to eventually get to the bottom to, and that will be a permanent goal of his for the foreseeable future.

yeah, from what little i know about death note (it was like a plot he had to get close to the investigators after him, wasn't it?), i could see how taking him from that canon point would make it a lot easier to get cr when starting out. but memory can be a very interesting topic in the context of mom, given the way they can kind of define what separates them here from canon. kanaya might be interested in that same kind of research, but more for externalizing or strengthening it than restoring.

do you have any plans to eventually canon update him to remember kira, or hoping for some kind of memory treatment?

What is the least greatest thing about being Kanaya's race?

i missed the "least" at first and that would've been a very different answer. there are a lot of things you could say, sometimes the tyrannical, darwinistic, and racist culture wasn't so great, but with only two of them left, they wouldn't knock it in human company, and try to cling to the parts they still can. (though not the racism, that wouldn't really work out when the karkat would've been pariah in their caste hierarchy and she's not about to kill a dude who's basically her little brother.)

she has her own biases, so she'd probably think it's the fact that they aren't capable of gestating their own young the way humans do. maybe they wouldn't have to be extinct, then.


for john, what experiences from his military days still impact him now in his civilian life?

What's Kanaya's least favorite aspect about working at the 'Nest? Also: what's her favorite fashion style of this world?

her least favorite part? probably the hours. despite being a vampire, she's also solar-powered, so she's never been as nocturnal as the rest of her species. still, it isn't like she'd be sleeping much anyway, but things worth paying attention to always seem to happen in the dark.

her favorite type of fashion in this or any world is catherine deneuve in the hunger. 40s style through an 80s goth filter, kanaya is here for this.


where does greed see business going with the nest? just a productive way to spend his time, or does he have any grander plans for it down the line?

Can't deny that. Also, excellent choices.

It's mainly a place where he can gather henchmen, possessions, friends if we keep that a dirty little secret. It's a way for him to rebuild what he lost, to go back to the way things used to be. On the other side, his main objective is learning more about the Porter. How it works, what kind of power it holds, etc. And I'd be lying if I said he doesn't plan to take it or, at the very least, try to.

What's one thing Kanaya would change about herself, given the chance?

just one? could she just point to all of her and that count as one whole thing? she's not a fan of herself in many respects, and she might pick things she likes but she'd give them up if it changed the whole. if it's only one thing, she'd make it so she doesn't get so attached to people so easily, her unlife could be so much easier if she just didn't care so much.

tell me about greed's possessions, how he feels about them. is it all about the accumulation, or does he show any kind of scrutiny in what he takes, getting the best things to bring him even more?
