aww yeah it's question meme time
Time to bring back one of my old faves...

Simple and easy! Here's how it goes:
1. POST a top-level with your character name
2. REPLY to other people's top-level with a question for that character
3. ANSWER the question you were asked
4. ASK a question of that person's characters in return!
We go back and forth like this asking questions in a thread until one or both of us runs out of questions!
QUESTIONS CAN BE ANYTHING. Serious or silly as you want! What does Jane think of (x)? What does Sarah have for breakfast? How many times a day does Alex masturbate? What's Tom's dream job? The only limit for questions is your imagination.
Replies can be as monosyllabic or as tl;dr are you want; it's up to you. Go wild kids!

didja see that?so how often does shinji have to babysit aki here

YES JESUS IT WAS JUST PUNCHING SOMETHING--I want to joke like EVERY DAMN DAY but really it fluctuates! Akihiko, in MoM, has a habit of loading himself up with WAY TOO MUCH SHIT because he's gotta always be training and working and studying and teaching and going to classes and-- etc etc etc, and Shinjiro lately has been trying to get him to pull back a bit. Try and shift his priorities (For instance: giving the guy a pet rabbit for his birthday) a bit closer to home, so that the guy will take care of himself without being outright told HEY YOU'RE A DUMBASS STOP IT
(though shinji does that anyway too)
Lately, Akihiko's been dealing with the whole 'great Minato's dead too' thing, so Shinjiro tries to do subtle shit to get Akihiko to take better care of himself. After all, he hates being told what to do and how to do it, so other people might too, rite???
it includes stupid shit like making him lunch and sticking it in the fridge with dumb notes like HEY EAT THIS in vain hopes that Akihiko won't down a protein shake and a clif bar and be like GOOD ENOUGH-- and the aforementioned pet rabbit, so Akihiko can be like 'oh yeah I have responsibilities at home, so going back isn't necessarily giving up for the day'. Those are his hopes, at least.
he tries not to coddle the guy, and he knows that Akihiko has to go home sometime without him and without memory of any of this-- but he at least wants to see Akihiko try and take care of himself and live for his fucking self, as opposed to running himself into the ground because of the guilt of not being able to protect those he was too young to, or those who chose their own fate.
i hope that made sense i have so many thoughts/feels on their stupid bromanceshipthing
OKAY SO MY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT JOJO IS LIMITED though I keep meaning to get around to reading it because everything I've heard about it for like the past couple years has been beautiful.
SO. TELL ME ABOUT DIEGO. Where does he fit in with this hot mess of magical baras. What's the dinosaur thing. How does he feel about all the jojo's here.
IF THIS IS TOO VAGUE LEMME KNOW i am such a fucking derp, hahaha.
no subject
ANYWAY
where does he fit in: Diego is from Steel Ball Run, which is a canon AU and is parallel to Phantom Blood so he is Dio Brando's au counterpart. he is not a bara. in fact, he's a jockey, which is about as un-bara are you can get. also he's not a fuckin' sociopath but he's still a jaded dick who grew up in absolute poverty. likes horses more than people tbh
the dinosaur thing: is his stand, Scary Monster, which lets him turn into a dinosaur and also lets him turn living and non-living things into dinos and he gets waaay creative about it.
how does he feel about the jojos here: depends on the jojo and none of them are from his world/timeline/etc sooo
Jonathan: mind blown about how little like johnny he actually is what
Dio: uuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (unsure)
Joseph: on his shitlist (this is normal for joseph)
Caesar: hasn't met him yet, will probably find him annoying like Gyro
Jotaro: hasn't met him yet
will probably not feel very good about anything after learning about what dio is like because jesus fuckign christ

OTHER THAN THE MOST GODDAMNED BEAUTIFUL THING I HAVE EVER SEEN. also ugh i know i can tl;dr for ages about the dumbest things about these dumb boys. And they are such dumb boys.
i have flooded akihiko's ic inbox with dumb domestic bullshit and it makes me so happyOh my god he can turn people and things into dinosaurs. That is the most amazing ability I have ever read. Just-- A++ beautiful. Has he kept it in MoM? And if so, has it (Or do you plan on it-) ever come into play?
no subject
i'm not sure if he's used it here yet but he mainly makes tiny raptors when he's scouting things out and sometimes if he has to go stealth and he's spotted or something, he'll turn the person into a dinosaur-themed object (he technically fossilizes them but he gets creative with it and makes them like dino themed lamps or w/e and it's not permanent here) and there hasn't been a real need to do that yet
but yeah he totally will use it even for petty stuff like having his raptors
stealfetch things for him....amazing....(no subject)

it just happened and i rolled with it and love it--
OKAY SO- in Persona 3, Shinjiro's initial equipment is "Wool peacoat" "beanie" and "cowboy boots." and it's so goddamned ridiculous to me and I love it. (But seriously he's always wearing cowboy boots in canon i don't even know.) So you have this jackass homeless japanese teenager with western boots and--
Honestly? His Persona is Castor of the Dioscuri, the younger twin to Pollux (which is Akihiko's Persona.) While Pollux was an accomplished boxer, Castor was a reknowned horseman, and I assume that they entire thing is a throwback to that. REALLY, that's been my own (secondary)reasoning as well- during the summer games plot, during camp, he learned some basic horseback riding because why not, in august Akihiko bought him a new pair of bitchin' boots-- AND THEN WESTERN MOVIE NIGHT HAPPENED AND IT JUST KEEPS GOING AND GETTING MORE RIDICULOUS.
I like the idea of him really liking the whole motif of westerns- your whole LONE GUNMAN BRINGING ORDER TO PLACES because let's be real he's not really the greatest team player. Also they get to dress so cool, and shoot those old timey guns and ride horses- it's just a dumb boy thing, I feel.
JAYDEN y nawt westerns tho. that is to say- What's his guilty pleasure genre/whatever when it comes to movies or books or video games or whatever?
no subject
ohhh man that is a good question. HMM. HMMMM. I kinda imagine sometimes he gets really high and watches daytime soap operas or kids shows or something. I'm not really sure Jayden has a dedicated guilty pleasure genre in anything though, per se. He's kinda shameless about what he likes. Back home he probably also found old Soviet propaganda videos on youtube and thought they were hilarious.... probably not so much now.
Follow up: What does Shinji like most and least about living in (a version of) America?
no subject
Oh my god I mentioned it in another thread but he hates the transit system and how spread out everything is. Florida has like next to none, and I assume virginia is only slightly better because of the proximity to DC. (BUT I DOUBT IT BECAUSE GROWING UP IN THE SOUTH, RAILWAYS ARE JUST... NOT A THING OUTSIDE OF MAJOR CITIES FOR THE MOST PART?? maybe it's just tennessee but ehhhh) He can't drive so he's gotta get from his house to the De Chima base, through the porter to canaveral, then hop a bus to heropa or something and get to work, and do it all in reverse at the end of the day.
And some days there's an extra stop in Nonah for training with annie.
basically it's not convenient for him and EVERYTHING IS SO FAR APART??? Like why aren't there any readily accessible convenience stores by his house why does he have to go all the way to a big grocery store, fuck. he needs to learn to drive or something except that is a terrible idea.
GOOD THINGS uhh better movies. He likes american flicks, they're pretty good, even if he doesn't spend a lot of time watching any. And he likes how, for the most part, people give waaaay less fucks. It's less stressful in some ways. He also likes it because it's not the island where he accidentally killed someone but really anywhere will do for that one.
JAYDEN AGAIN: He mentioned before a better future involving a job, wife, etc- Is this where he sees himself going forward? Does he want to grow up and be a content everyman? What all aspirations does he have for the long-term, both before and after arriving in MoM-verse.
no subject
(also yes weed + spanish soaps must be a thing, let's do it)
Also WOW MAN YOU SURE DID ASK A REALLY SIGNIFICANT QUESTION PERTAINING TO JAYDEN AS A CHARACTER ON THE WHOLE LOLOL. Wow how to answer this. Let's see.
So like, he's an immigrant kid, and I think there's certain pressures placed on them that other American kids don't have necessarily. There was a lot of sacrifice on the part of his parents to bring him to the United States so he can have a better life, and he's pretty much expected to perform within certain parameters. He's watched his parents struggle with menial jobs because they don't have an American education (and his dad, for all his love of America, died of a heart attack rather young due to what Jayden does consider subconsciously to be an attempt to keep up with America's capitalism). So he's very focused on being something better... but he also never got to dream big like a lot of wealthier kids who were born here. He had to dream practically. So all of his future goals are reflections of that kind of mentality: his dad was an engineer back in Russia and that's basically the most esteemed job you can possibly have, by Soviet standards, it's kinda like saying you want to be a doctor or a lawyer here in America. So he wants that and the family thing is also very much a product of his upbringing, family is very important and on both sides of his heritage they lean toward a more traditional family structure, particularly the Chechen side. His mom is Chechen (an ethnic minority in southern Russia I WILL REFRAIN FROM MAKING THIS A RUSSIAN HISTORY LESSON I SWEAR) and it's like, still a thing sometimes to have arranged marriages so she's hinted at that and Jayden's been basically like OH GOD NO so I think his future goals kind of include trying to beat his mom to the punch so he doesn't have to marry someone he doesn't know.
That all being said, Jayden has certain future aspirations in that vein, but he also never really got a chance to consider much else, so it's very much a dream of necessity, not exactly fancy. Also, deep down inside, he suspects it won't be easy to achieve any of this, particularly the way the college education system is set up (he's looked at the figures and knows tuition is super expensive, even at a state school, by his family's standards), and he looking at a lot of student debt and.... well, I don't think he's thought through what being an engineer would be like, past it's what his dad did and it would be a lot of money and make his family proud of him. Would he actually be happy doing it? I'm not sure. I suspect he's not actually smart enough for it, to be completely honest.
...Also not to specifically hint at spoilers or anything, but Jayden came about as a character in my book series because I needed someone who had thrown his future away for a completely stupid and potentially evil reason. So. Uh. Yeah, TAKE ALL THIS FOR WHAT YOU WILL.
ETA: also to add a followup question in case you want to keep playing this game: what were/are Shinji's future aspirations? Because you know... those didn't really pan out in canon either. ;_;

What's Shinji's plans for the near future, since he's presumably settled in MoMland for the foreseeable future? (being dead back home, and all.)
no subject
:T
OKAY FOR REAL uh oh god i have not seen near enough westerns to make that call. SOMETHING APPROPRIATELY BADASS AND GRITTY. Not like gritty-reboot-gritty like "oh fuck there is dust and sand everywhere" gritty.
As for plans....
...ha ha... shinji having... future plans...
sob
HE'S STILL WORKING AT THAT. He's still got his job and he's not been able to weasle out of being signed up for classes and he's settled in De Chima with his bf and some comically oversized animals and ISN'T THAT GOOD ENOUGH?? He doesn't really know what else he would want to accomplish. He's not exactly the most ambitious- but he does want to act as a support for Akihiko, and make sure that the other guy gets his goals.
And really- it's kind of always been that way for him. Even in supplemental canon materials (Specifically commentary by the character designer in the P3 official art works-) its mentioned that after Miki's death in the fire, he had to "grow up overnight" to look after his bro. I assume that's also around when he took up cooking as well, just to be able to full in gaps and spots so that Akihiko can focus on what he needs to do.
He's a good listener, can give whatever advice he's got, and wants to do whatever little shit he can to make it easier for his friends to accomplish what they need to. His own goals, as far as we see in game and the like, aren't quite as important to him. (Especially seeing as how willing he is to fucking KILL HIMSELF just to make sure his head-monster doesn't hurt anyone again.)
So... he doesn't really have too many goals. He's kind of interested in some of the info that Annie's dug up, and he's willing to help her, but that's because he considers her a friend- and again, he mostly wants to ensure that the people he cares about are able to accomplish their goals.
He's content to keep where he is- with an income, with some interesting things to do, and with people around him who are driven, so that he can keep pushing them forward.

That's the spirit, Shinji, live for today! Yoms is continually checking in on him to make sure he's not getting any dumb ideas about offing himself or dying again
(because clearly Shinjiro is the one who needs a supportive buddy to make sure he's doing okay.)

i thought we agreed that you had to say so when you are hiding out in random items in his place
there might be awkward teenage fumbling going on okay you have to give him a heads up

Oh come on he has better things to watch than awkward teenage fumbling. :|

also how is he doing generally on that 'i've been alive again for awhile and i have a job and boyfriend now' front? :0

Like it would really depend on where Ken was coming from, if that made sense. (I've been in a game where we had one pulled from.. the day before Shinjiro's death. :'| that was awks.) He would want for it to just be a non-issue. Like they can acknowledge one another and move on, etc etc, even if he knows that it likely wouldn't work like that- especially because Akihiko would likely want for them to be able to all work together.
But really? He just... wouldn't bring anything up first. Wouldn't seek out more contact than was necessary, and guage anything he did based on how Ken was doing. If the kid's calmed down and better, hey, maybe they can work through things. if he's still jaded and bitter and hateful, then alright, shinjiro won't make Ken have to put up with him.
So... largely it depends. He would just do what he could to keep things business as usual.
AS FOR THE REST HE'S DOING FAIRLY WELL? Like he still thinks he's shitty at the relationship thing and thinks he's likely doing it wrong but goddamnit he's trying that that's a lot for him. :T so. Basically, he's pretty settled! More worried about Aki due to the whole "btw your other bro is ded too lol" thing and how he's handling that.
basically shinji is domestic as fuk, lol.
KOTETSU: What about his own domestic front? Hows his job, friends, interpersonal relationships, et cetera? I've realized I know a lot about his feelings for his actual family back home, and some about the government, but less about his day-to-day!
no subject
Interpersonal relationships tho, laughs......laughs......
The closest thing he had to a friend aside from Barnaby was Edgeworth, who is now dropped. Kotetsu is actually really really bad at making friends, ironically. He's very friendly, and he cares about everyone, but he's also not the sort who really puts himself out there. He's a very emotionally distant person, the sort that holds everyone at arm's length. rn, the person he's closest to aside from Barnaby is Jaime, and if he were an adult, Kotetsu might have something like a proper friendship with him, but...as it stands, he's a teenager, and Kotetsu is a huge dad type and considers himself as having a responsibility to protect kids from the bad things in life, so there's that imbalance in their relationship. Then there's Yuri, who he's slowly starting to build an awkward rapport with, but they've both got a shitton of walls and have never really interacted beyond a professional capacity before so it's pretty slow-going on that front. And things with Jesse are just awkward with a capital A.
Other than those people, most of his relationships are still at the casual acquaintance stage. It's very easy for him to talk to people, so he's the sort that will have a lot of acquaintances, but very very few actual friends.
Has Shinji started to think about his future here, or is he still more or less taking it a day at a time?
no subject
HE HAS NOT, hahaha. I mean, sort of in an abstract way? But he just forsees it as being more of the same.
The only thing he has planned for and knows will be an eventuality is Akihiko leaving- 'cause bros got a fight back home to finish. (He thinks he's thought it through but lbr he would have no idea what to do if that DID happen-- And hasn't even considered the possibility that he could disappear himself, harrrr.) But past acknowledging "this place sucks at times and will continue thus" he's pretty much just coasting along.
Which is why even though he's attending high school because Akihiko was a shit and signed him up, and even though he'll finish it to make the guy shut up, he has no plans for college, or changing careers, or anything of the sort. He's complacent where he is and is hesitant to rock the boat because it's the best his life has been in years.
Even with all the imPort bullshit and the Cold War and the Summer Games, on the whole it's been better than slowly killing himself in a gutter and snarling and bristling at the people who car about him most in a desperate attempt to make them forget him so they won't care when he dies.
Shinjiro has really low standards for life, tbh.
Has Kotetsu ever considered owning a pet tiger? Rubbing its tummy, letting it frolick in a backyard pool, playing with a tetherball.... etc?
