okay so here is where i will put the question in return SO:

In being alive here, knowing he isn't back home, what struggles has Shinjiro been facing? I thiiink did he learn Minato also died back home, sometime after he had? What is going on for him internally with this kind of knowledge, and knowing, or hearing, that the expectation is people might be sent home full stop should the Porter come back under control, like in 2010?

And as an additional thing, what's been bringing him the most happy moments in this world?

ugggh you ask such good questions. Okay-

1. Honestly, his initial struggles about being dead back home VS alive here was more okay but why do I have to be alive again? It was a huge metaphorical kick in the balls, because he'd spent two years of his life psyching himself up for being dead and free of responsibilities or worries or feelings or anything-- and then BAM, here he is, alive again for no damn reason. Recently he's been more accepting of being alive, though there are still some definitive struggles. One of the main ones is having any long-term goals.

He doesn't. He doesn't want anything more than what he has because he already has more than he did back home. He can't bring himself to care about RAWRG IMPORT VOTING RIGHTS or even the stipends being cut from the unregistered heroes and all those dynamics because-- hey, it's nice that they had those to begin with. It's not particularly 'real' to him, the consequences that it could have yet, but even if it did come around to bite him, he'd just carry on and keep going.

He's gotten surviving here down. He's got pattern and routine and things to look after and distract himself, and a way to feel like he's got some sort of purpose/fulfillment with both his job and his more personal relationships-- but when it comes to bettering himself or any "life goals"... he doesn't have any. because this is already way more life than he'd expected, and its kind of a pain and kind of nice in that way. Having died and having accepted his death kind of fucked with his perspective some.

2. Minato's death. Yeah, he's bummed out that another teammate bit it... but he also understands. He knows that Minato is different from him, knows that while they both chose their death, it was for different reasons. (I think, I'm too lazy to look back at the thread, so if Shinjiro doesn't have all this information yet, then I can amend this, lol.) Shinjiro's were selfish and cowardly, an extreme form of escapism, whereas Minato laid down his life to protect others. It was necessary, and that sucks, but Shinjiro can respect it. He's not going to grieve the guy who's living here right in front of him, and feels weird about the idea of mourning someone who... he died before. So he's mostly just processing and sorting all that info, worrying instead about Akihiko, who of course again feels as though he failed to protect people. But this leads us to another issue:

He knows that whatever future his world holds, he's not a part of it. That's another reason he has mixed feelings about information about back home- about the team's success, about Minato's death. It shouldn't matter to him because he elected to remove himself. It sucks that Minato had to die, it's awesome that the team accomplished their goal, but at the end of the day he feels he has to right to mourn or to celebrate, because it isn't his world or future anymore.

3. As for people all leaving and being sent home? He reminds himself of that fairly often, actually. He and Akihiko are fairly open about it, because they know that Akihiko has a fight waiting for him back home. He's got to go back, and he won't remember any of this when he does.

As for returning to death... well. If he just pops out and into death, Shinjiro assumes that he won't realize it, anyway. He envisions death as being absolutely nothing. No hopes for an afterlife or spirit bullshit. He assumes that's just the complete end of things. So he tries not to think too hard about it, because at the end of the day, it'll happen and they can't do anything about it. One day Akihiko will leave to go back home and live his own life-- and one day Shinjiro will die again. They're just constant truths that he's learned to accept.

(This also makes it hard for him to plan in the long term, lmao.)

4. His happiest moments, though, definitely have to come from just... having a sense of fulfillment here. He knows people, he has some to hang out with, to look after. he actually feels like he make a difference sometime when it comes to the kids he counsels. it's like a whole life he'd never gotten to have because of everything back home being derailed with the whole 'persona' bullshit. Movie nights, morning training, grabbing lunch at a coffee shop- having a normal fucking life is astounding to him because it's so low-key.

And, sappily enough, the whole dating thing? Is pretty big. it's awkward and dumb and sappy and they have fights, sure- but end of the day he has someone to care about and fight with and look after and rely on. it's a big weird change for him, but one that he's pretty happy with. Not that he would ever admit to as much out loud.

Does Annie have any "life goals" while here? That being, things like a dream career, or places she'd like to travel, things she'd like to do or see? If the whole 'leaving the country' thing wasn't an issue, of course, haha.

Also, what is her favourite class in school? Is there anything she particularly enjoys studying?

Life goals... man, she's still figuring those out. She wants to catch up and understand the most she can about the modern context, and damn it all, she will learn engineering, but life goals are hard for her to say she has in any concrete sense, since it implies a longevity here she doesn't believe in. She'll still aim to be better set up if this turns into staying for years, not just for a few more months sort of scenario, s her bigger goals are really the travel things - she wants to see all the impressive sites, Grand Canyons!!!, and all the historical ones. That's so far from what you'd get back home that she wants to go be impressed. Even by the desert!

As far as favs at school, it's really... she doesn't like school. ROTFL SOBBING she endures school and enjoys the process of gaining knowledge, but she's done school before, she has to study extra hard for paper tests because she does not do well at those without putting in a lot of effort, even if the material is interesting. Written tests are just harder for her overall. (Oral exams are easier as long as her pauses don't count against her, and physical exams are easiest.) But subject wise... math, chemistry, science. Physics. Anything that follows formulas. She likes reading history but it's also really damn depressing. Psychology she'd find fascinating, and sociology, but those aren't subjects she's spent time on. Give her biology, physiology, anatomy, anything that adds up to parts, and that, so far, is easiest to study SO. THAT STUFF. It's sensible and it all adds up.

English, on the other hand, fuck that. Those essays are the worst for her. She can do them, but it isn't fun at all.

What's the most ridiculous thing Shinjiro has had to deal with while here?

Being possessed by a ghost into threatening to blow up the local DMV with a bunch of hot dogs and wires strapped to his chest as a fake bomb. HANDS DOWN. THAT IS THE NUMBER ONE MOST RIDICULOUS. And then he had to spend a very uncertain two weeks in prison and was so fucking confused about his life because he didn't remember a damn thing about it.

But now he and Yoms are buddies so it's all good.

SECONDARY RIDICULOUS THINGS include an awkward run-in with Jaime wearing a Mega-Man Arm Blaster and arguing with a robot living in his spine over whether or not to kill Shinji's pet. Also the whole 'arm in the microwave' thing back at the summer games. Also watching Akihiko nearly get his face ripped off by a badger at summer camp because his best friend is an idiot.

Oh and his other bffbro is apparently an 'alligator curator'. And one day a disembodied ghost was hanging out in one of his wall sockets and had to be talked down from killing people.

And a space marine had to call him and clarify that he is not into virtual dating sims, despite what game titles such as 'Galaxy of Fantasy' would have him believe.

He also got into a stupid fight about dinosaurs with a dinosaur. Shinjiro still maintains that even with their second ass-brain (shinjiro does not know how dinosaurs work) they aren't smarter than people usually.

His whole life here is a string of ridiculous happenstance, tbh.

MAN I DON'T EVEN KNOW. It's certainly possible. It's not something that he would really actively consider and strive for because... well, he's a miserable dead person, why would anyone even. (As always aki is the exception to all his rules.) He doesn't exactly think of himself as the most deserving, after all.

I feel like the biggest worry wouldn't be OH NO WILL I GET HURT AGAIN (because hurt happens okay, he sort of... tends to stay so reserved because we all got it coming at some point.) but rather SHIT WHAT WOULD HE DO IF AKI CAME BACK AND REMEMBERED

It would be very difficult for him to really build up that sort of necessary trust for a relationship because this was less "hey lets get together sometime' and more... idk, just an expansion on their pre-existing relationship? How is Annie's relationship with our survey corp members here? UNDERSTANDABLY I COULD SEE IT BEING STRAINED, but has all popping into a titan-free world changed much? have they influenced many of her choices or paths here?

Okay so like with Reiner it's on the awkward but getting like. Better. Side. She's still awkward in trying to be around... or helpful... or anything with Bertholdt gone, largely because she's like "I am the last person who can help people through anything really do you need a wingman I can do that do you need someone at your back I can do that do you need a hug? I can............ awkwardly...................... attempt................................. that"

Then there's everyone else. She does not trust any of the adults. Her respect has only grown in increments for Jean and Sasha; she feels Armin has not responded well to this world, and knowing more from home, wonders if stress there plays some part, but it's actually sounding like events are moving on lines that... might be better, or might destroy everything. The only older adult she's on speaking terms with is Hange, and lol. It's in that territory of fuck you we're not talking alone together unless absolutely necessary. Levi she doesn't want to deal with at all, and Isabel will get side stepped carefully due to ties to Levi. Erwin is a scary dude.

SO LIKE. Jean is the guy she... talks to... and she hates that he's like. More reasonable. But still an ass. Sasha is just purely Sasha, and she has a lot of respect for her talent and skills, and also her moments of stupid, because it's all easier to take in stride.

SO SHE'S not intending ill will toward anyone, but knows things are strained because lol??? TITAN SHIFTER??? And yes, they have influenced her here. For whom she has many complicated feelings and nothing is probably ever going to be okay ever.

Of course there's Annie, who is... uh. Fr...ien...ds??? They train, they shared some basic information about their worlds, they amputated her necrotic arm and stuffed it in a microwave. Annie is way more focused than he is (Because he's such a slackass-) and he can respect that. Respects that drive to make herself an exemplary imPort, and respects her self-acknowledgement on who and what she is, and why she does what she does. She's so matter of fact, it makes her super easy to talk and shoot the shit with, be it about missing wardrobe to dancing to whatever else. He can't claim to be as knowledgeable about the goings-on in this world [because susan is a slacker and doesn't keep up with world plot like she should--] but he's ready and willing to help her figure out what she's looking for.

After that there's Akihiko, who we all know about by now

Jaime and Jayden are two of the people his own age he's hung out with most. They all go to Heropa Public School ~~because idek if xavier's ever opened....?~~ and occasionally all hang out together in dumb teenage ways. Shinji and Jaime used to be housemates, and they got along super well. He also half keeps up with Kaiden, who was also an old house mate before he moved out to De Chima.

Yomiel is... complicated. They're friends, and he understands what a shitty situation Yoms is in, but he also recognizes how easy it would be for the ghost to slide off into the deep end and start using people to kill others or whatever again. He's just accepted the fact that the ghost may be in his room or pet or whatever at any given time. he wants to try and steer Yoms back but you know what they say about leading horses to water and not being able to shove their heads into it.

Jesse is a coworker that he's been hanging out with less as of late, but they used to go smoke weed on the roof together and bullshit back and forth.

Inumuta is.... lol, well, he's Inumuta. Shinjiro thinks he's alright, just a HUGE FUCKOFF NERD. he tried to help the guy out of his internet addiction once (didn't work) and then they started stopping by a tea place every so often to figure out this 'how do i friends' thing. Inumuta and Soba get along which is good.

Soba is his pet snake and he loves her very much like you don't even know how much he has feelings for this bigass snake.

And Sugar ray is Akihikos new pet Rabbit and surely this will not pose any problems at all whatsoever nope.

He's not interacted quite as much with his De Chima housemates, because I am a huge shy wimp sometimes, but he thinks Samara's got a hard life- and is starting to piece together that she, Jacob, and Kaiden are all kind of from the same future-ish.

I'm sure I could keep going, lmao, because HE GETS ALONG WITH PEOPLE PRETTY EASILY despite being such a dry jerk, so I don't... think he's had too much negative CR other than fighting with Dr. Dinosaur that one time. I AM LIKELY FORGETTING PEOPLE, IDEK.

Basically his social circle is surprisingly broad, but not very deep in most cases. he's only lately started to tell people about the more supernatural aspects of his world, for instance, and has yet to tell anyone about his inabilities to properly control his Persona, and the ramifications they had back home.

Annie's eating habits! Does she have any favourites? Go-to meals? Does she cook or stop and grab something or eat on the go? Do tell.

this is when you learn i'm not so creative on these things - annie avoids most the easy meals because the salt content gets to her, and the grease. like it can be good? but her system just goes FRICK YOU for it so her response is not to push her body to accept all these weird greasy foods and stick to a largely vegetarian diet by preference, eating meat every so often. she's been trying new recipes, tries to stick away from anything that relies too heavily on dairy, is down with stews (they're easier and can last for days okay) and breads and soups and potatoes in all kinds of variety, different roasted and baked veggies, she's explored with casseroles... has a love hate relationship with rice and pasta, hasn't tried too much of it as a consequence. she hasn't been so inquisitive in her food explorations as most other things, partly because tried and true causes the least gastrointestinal distress. that and she enjoys the variety of new fruits and veggies! some of the new oils are nice to use... but it's about balance. so ironically, she eats healthy, even if it takes more time, because the fast food junk doesn't do well with her.

so she cooks and she's been figuring out things like EGG DISHES and like omelets and sunny side up and toast done her way and casseroles and soups and stews and breads she mostly buys from a bakery and roasted/broiled veggies! meat is more rare still even if it's omnipresent here, she's not always trusting of the source. (needs to find a good butcher, really.)

QUESTION: if shinji had to act in a movie for some reason, what kind of movie would it be, and what sort of part would he play if he also had to be the main male lead?
