aww yeah it's question meme time

Time to bring back one of my old faves...

the QUESTION meme

Simple and easy! Here's how it goes:

1. POST a top-level with your character name

2. REPLY to other people's top-level with a question for that character

3. ANSWER the question you were asked

4. ASK a question of that person's characters in return!

We go back and forth like this asking questions in a thread until one or both of us runs out of questions!

QUESTIONS CAN BE ANYTHING. Serious or silly as you want! What does Jane think of (x)? What does Sarah have for breakfast? How many times a day does Alex masturbate? What's Tom's dream job? The only limit for questions is your imagination.

Replies can be as monosyllabic or as tl;dr are you want; it's up to you. Go wild kids!

Oooh pho is a good one that's something I should tuck away in my head, Annie could stomach pho... similar diet to what you're talking about for the Gladers for her, by and large.

ANYWAY she has no dream job, and still doesn't, because she's never thought like that. Working to work is a given; working hard is a given; she's started working only with a outdoor gear design and testing company in nonah, but that's not a dream job, just something she's good at. i think... anything she can feel helps people more than hinders or harms, and that can be a direct or indirect helping??? shit she just doesn't want to keep killing people. and she'd love to support people with vision and drive and a support structure to use their strength of will and purpose to BETTERIFY the structures of the world to allow people to also choose the better things for themselves and their natures. not changing people... changing the structures they look to, and allow them to thrive that way.

does he have any short term goals right now here in MoM? maybe to figure out if it is an experiment or not? along those lines, what would help him start seeing it as not being a deliberate experiment?

Maybe Newt can take her for pho one day when they finally meet in person 8>

That's cute though SHE HAS CUTE IDEALS.

Newt's short term goals right now are making sure Minho and Thomas are taken care of before anything else. They're basically family to him, so he wants to make sure they're okay before he really gets into doing anything. I think he's probably going to enroll in school this month and start really delving into the history of MoM, which will probably be what convinces him that it isn't an experiment (though he'll always have his suspicions lbr). I think what has him really on edge atm is that he just found out from Minho that he's missing memories of the Scorch Trials, and Thomas is also missing memories, and that's a Thing in their world that WICKED did so it has him a little anxious since he doesn't realize they're just from different points on the timeline. Another goal, less short-term, but that would also probably make him feel more at ease, is getting out of government housing and living with the Gladers. They're technically already mooching and living on his floor, but it's getting crowded so they really need their own space.

What are Annie's interests? Favorite subject in school?

Yes, he should! It'd be the first food place she's gone out to with anyone other than Chipolte that didn't leave her feeling gross. Vietnamese and Amerimex, who knew?

ROTFL CUTE IDEALS for you know someone who's been a murderer #she tried and so much did she fail

annie... annie and interests is hard, she's just learning those. seriously with her interests she learns as she goes, and she does find things she's studying interesting... and hates aspects of the whole studying thing. she finds modern culture interesting... and annoying as hell at times. she finds different culture clashes also interesting... and confusing as hell THERE IS A CERTAIN PATTERN TO THINGS. I think I answered favorite subject in school earlier, let me check - yeah watch me be lazy http://etcelsior.dreamwidth.org/11645.html?thread=6774397#cmt6774397 here is the answer i gave susan earlier

QUESTION: what's something in this modernish world that Newt would like to do/experience? Be it an activity, someplace to visit, anything like that.

I think I'm going to put up a school log at some point for Newt so he can mingle with other people his age, so maybe we can do it in that log! These sound like legit places to eat, though.

But hey at least she doesn't still have ideals of killing people that is a step in the right direction!!

As far as things Newt wants to do, he doesn't really have anything he's dying to do aside from going to school I guess. Like a proper school that wasn't just scientists making them study special things (which he doesn't remember anyway). I want him to go the movies, though, and like an amusement park or something but I doubt that will ever happen but I can dream.

Question: How does Annie feel about the whole registering process and people that do or don't register?
lyingheart: anonsanta, let me know who to credit! (embarrass | you come to see me)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2014-10-18 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha they're good for being more straightforward for sure, and that sounds good! That'd be a great log to use.

Answer: Ambivalent as far as others are concerned. She has her reasons, and she sees more benefits from what's going on for the Registered than the rest. Watching and working within a system are things she's used to doing, so it's par for the course, and she doesn't have an infrastructure to fall back on except what she builds with people here - and the resources at her service with the Registration stuff are far greater than anything on her own.

She debates both ways with people interested in those discussions. Devil's advocate each way whoops???

Question: How do you think he'd handle/react to movies? I'm not sure, does the series have anything sort of comparable to prep him for what the experience is like? (This is one of the things I look forward to doing with Annie at some point eh heh heh heh.)
gluestick: (and get to see your face again)

[personal profile] gluestick 2014-10-19 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
GOOD QUESTION. The likelihood that he saw a movie before WICKED took him in is probably high, so like... He'll have a vague recollection that he's done something like it before, but not remember anything concrete like what he watched or who he watched it with. Just that cinema was a Thing. I think he'd still be kind of impressed by it, though, even with vague knowledge of it, because it's not something they had at all in the last two years. And it was probably more like watching a movie on a TV at home, and not in a theater, so the immersive nature of it would probably be a little overwhelming? And if was anything with horror type themes to it, it would probably send him into PTSD because his life sucks. He'd probably not be able to sit still for the duration of any movie though, since he's always used to doing things and not wasting time.

Question: What was the most jarring thing Annie encountered after coming to MoM that her world didn't have?
lyingheart: commission from <user name="deathmetals" site="tumblr.com"> (embarrassed | i am not proud)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2014-10-20 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the pitfalls for characters with things that'd trigger them in films that they wouldn't be prepared for. Eek!

Gah, that's... actually hard to say. Mostly because the answer is: everything. But when she first came to MoM it would be... cars. Like buildings are familiar even if the construction and materials aren't; uniforms are familiar even if the particulars aren't. And it just... the things people take for granted, that aren't questioned? Clean running water all over, in the house, all this hot running water, indoor plumbing in general, the ease of accessing food when they're not living near to fields or the like, it's all pretty darn amazing.

But definitely the first thing that jarred her badly were cars. Past that, it's kind of the openness and ability for people to speak? Without serious worry about being executed for saying the wrong things to the wrong people. (In the government.) Books are amazing. The internet, while overwhelming, is also amazing, though she now know porn exists there with viruses that like. Hate computers.

... So it's hard to say TOO MANY THINGS!!! Also electricity what the hell is this???

Question: What do you think Newt is actually enjoying in being in MoMverse, if anything (outside of the break from the crazy back home)?
gluestick: (just my echo my shadow)

[personal profile] gluestick 2014-10-22 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
What great worlds they come from, though he does at least have luxuries like running water and bathrooms and electricity. Just... sunflares all over the earth and zombie-like people running around all over that are highly infectious, no biggie. Also people that are disturbed enough to experiment on children, I guess.

As for what Newt is enjoying in MoM, it's honestly really simple. Actually having a proper bed to sleep in. The Homestead had a couple, but they weren't in great shape, and they were usually in use by the Medjacks when someone got injured or stung by a Griever, so he most slept on the floor or outside on the ground. So having a bed is like his favorite thing here so far, but also getting to try different kinds of food and live a somewhat normal life, or at least what he assumes is normal.

Question: Is there anything Annie wants to learn to do in MoM that she wouldn't have had access to at home?
lyingheart: anonsanta, let me know who to credit! (profile | we're traveling full speed)

[personal profile] lyingheart 2014-10-22 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
My answer for her on any question like this keeps sounding sad - learn how to live a normalish life, or more how to have expectations and goals she chooses for herself. Learn... to have friends... to have bonds that mean something in both directions that she doesn't have to betray simply by merit of being who and what she is. Learning friendship is probably the big one. Learning to open up despite the pain that invites in, especially here. LEARN TO SMILE AND LAUGH MORE NORMALLY wow like I said it just sounds sad.

Lind of the most important part there is that these are friends who know about the version of her past she tells (which is deliberately more condemning than it needs to be), who acknowledge these things she's done and her capacity for being a threat, back home, and who do not dismiss them, but move forward with and probably struggle with these things. Mutual relationships with those kinds of people. It's important to her... and seriously probably not ever going to happen in canon.

On a note of random things she's enjoyed learning since she came, hovercycle riding. That's just fun in a weird liberating way.

Question: What are you enjoying about getting to play Newt here, right now? Like, what thins are you finding it interesting to explore? Since I feel like the rewards a player can get out of it are different from what rewards a character gets out of the setting (or their detriments, depending).
gluestick: (i don't want to be an island)

[personal profile] gluestick 2014-10-22 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww oh no I don't even know her canon and I'm sad for her I just want to gather her up and put her in my pocket. :C

Man, I am having so much fun with just... Everything, honestly. I love how I can have really serious threads about government and the awful shit in his canon but turn around and have ridiculous threads with him trying to make moonshine or play with cats and just get to have a little bit of normalcy. I really like getting to explore Newt getting frustrated in MoM, because he's usually the most level-headed of his friends, the one with logic and reason that doesn't just run into bad ideas without a proper plan. He just keeps hitting walls with people with their beliefs vs his own about what's going on here, and it sort of takes him out of his comfort zone. I'm looking forward to see how he develops in MoM, because I don't really have any direction that I want to take him in specifically. Will he hate MoM and try to go back to his world, will he end up wanting to stay here because it's leagues better than what his world has to offer? I honestly have no idea which way he'll lean yet, so I'm excited to see where his development takes him.

Question: What is Annie's favorite guilty pleasure food?
