PARTY AT MOM'S HOUSE

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

    02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

    03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

    04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[Anna had only just wandered away from the crowd, trying to catch her breath. Incredible as it was to finally have people, after a lifetime of limited interactions a girl had to pace herself. But trying to take it all in was put on a sudden hold at the sight of the slowly icing tree. There was only one thing- one person- that could cause that.

She bolted across the road, yelling apologies at the flying metal carriages that had to swerve to avoid her, straight to the base of the tree.]

Elsa, listen. I- ah! Ah. Ha.

[Okay. That was not her sister. The edge of desperation in her tone flickered and died as she stared up from the base of the now frozen tree. So maybe on second thought thinking Elsa of all people would suddenly pick up tree-brooding hadn't been the smartest to start with. Anna could grant that. But the ice thing...

And now she was just staring. Nice manners, princess. She finally closed her mouth, taking a moment to smooth out some imaginary wrinkle in her (now intolerably stifling) winter dress to cover for her...well, just her.]

Hey...ah, sorry. I thought you were someone else?
icy: and nice sprites. (scary monsters.)

[ Lost in thought about the other Guardians, he glances down when someone calls him Elsa and a smile crooks into place when he meets the young lady's roving gaze; he's less flush with life than her sister, to be sure, with a gaunter look about him and snowy hair rather than palest blond. His eyes warm as she apologizes and, nope, that's definitely not Elsa's voice, far too deep and rich. ]

That's alright, I was just thinking. [ She either knows someone else with ice-magic or ... a penchant for hanging out in trees. Jack feels it's safe enough to assume it's the former. ] Do you need some help finding them?
cardea: (ehhh so i blew it up)

Yes! Elsa's usually not that hard to spot. These days, anyway.

[She gave a crooked smile after that last little muttered comment. Years and years of knowing exactly where Elsa was and unable to get to her, and now Anna can go anywhere she wants and Elsa's location was unknown. Wasn't that just life for you?]

Just look for the middle of the storm. Except this time, of course. I mean, I looked for it and it was you. Not that there's anything wrong with you, just-

[She was rambling. Focus, Anna.]

Help would be great. She really doesn't mix well with crowds right now.
icy: but placing no bets. (hedging closer.)

[ That's a little worrying to hear, especially if this Elsa goes around create storms. The mild snowfall all around is thin and cool, especially for Florida, but it doesn't bother Jack so much when the weather responds to him like this because there's always a limit, he knows his own power as well as his own mind.

Hopping down from the tree, he shoulders his staff and slides off his hood, if only to be polite. ]

We should probably start looking for parks and open spaces like that, then. I could fly over the city but she probably wouldn't let me know where she is, given you're her ... friend?

[ Daughter? Sister? Cousin twice-removed? ]

Sister.

[The friend thing she was going to put in a pin in for now. Maybe if this next talk didn't involve having to run away from giant ice monsters...oh, that might be something to mention. When they were a little closer.]

I'm her sister, Anna. But you can fly? Can you bring me with you? Last time I found her- well, you could spot her from up high all right.

[Also flying. She was a little excited about that.]
icy: did you throw a trident. (brick killed a guy.)

[ He thinks about flying with Jamie, how dragging the kid around by the scuff of his collar probably isn't too much of an option with this girl. Anna. For a whole host of reasons, really, including but not limited to never having carried a fully grown adult before and there aren't any warm thermals to keep them up, it's all forceful cold winds and damp clouds.

Maybe he's just a little too paranoid about it being an awful experience for anyone besides himself. ]

I, uh. [ Jack rubs the back of his neck, offering a chagrined smile. ] I could, but it's still flying for two, I wouldn't want to drop you — and I'm pretty cold.

[ With skin that feels like a metal pole left outside overnight in December, even. ]

Jack Frost. Hi.

[personal profile] cardea 2014-01-26 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, that's weird. Uh, not bad weird. That came out rude. It's only, like, your name is about the cold and you just happen to have icey magic? Unless your parents had them, too. So they knew Frost would be involved, so that just makes sense...

[Anna knew nothing of how magic worked. Nothing. That Elsa had it was the extent of her familiarity, and she'd spent all of five minutes with her sister since that little Earth shattering revelation of Elsa having magic had happened. Maybe there were whole winter themed families?

Hm. She was getting off track. So she held up her mitten covered hands with an apologetic smile.]

But, ah, cold is the one thing I am so ready for.
icy: impossible sir it's in johnson's underwear. (what if your dope was on fire.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-01-26 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I'm, it's kinda — never mind, it's complicated.

[ Brushing that nonsense aside for the moment, he refocuses on Anna and her problems. That she's already dressed for the cold is one thing; that Jack isn't sure how he feels about having that much contact with someone else is another ... But she's missing her sister, who has some or all of Jack's abilities, and he thinks about a little girl at the edge of a pond wondering why her brother wouldn't come back. Those are fantasies, of course. He doesn't have any idea what happened after Jackson went under the ice, except he never came back up until it was too late.

That sort of decides it for him.

He offers Anna a hand. ]

Alright, but you need to hold on tight. [ His smile returns, genuine this time. ] Let's go find your sister, Anna.
