01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[right. let's just move this along and get a few important things straight: no spaceports, no distant streaks of trains or cargo ships dotting the way-too-blue sky...

grounded, then. temporarily. but Harlock's not inclined to waiting for handouts from these bright-smiling army-ad cadets (maybe he feels a little bad for laughing out loud at their overeager introductions...maybe. a little. not really.), so his attention moves quickly from the skies to the streets. cars are too expensive for most of society as he knows it, so it's pretty fascinating to see them so abundant.

that means one isn't going to be missed so badly.

Curt Connors ; Marvel 616 ; prompt numero uno

[Connors's mental process can easily be summed up by sheer panic. He sees the soldier trying to direct him to a car, but he's just standing still, like a deer in the headlights, trying to calm down. How did he get here? He was in New York last thing he remembered, how could he have come back to Florida? Did somebody bring him here? And, if so, why him, what did they want him to do? He had been used by less-than-savory types before and he did not want to be used by them again.

It's when he feels the scales start to appear on the back of his neck that he realizes he can't afford to panic. Not here, not now, not in front of everybody else. So, he closes his eyes and starts to do some deep breathing, trying to will that thing to go back down, trying to calm himself. He can't afford to turn into the Lizard, not here and not now.

A one-armed man trying to prevent himself from having a panic attack in the middle of the Florida sun is a bit of an odd sight, but Connors is trying his hardest not to pay attention to those around him and just to calm the fuck down.]

[Dr. Connors isn't the only one being ushered into this car.

Normally, Floyd "They Don't Call Me Deadshot For Nothing" Lawton wouldn't give a crap about some other guy freaking out, but they were going in the same vehicle and the killer sure, as hell, didn't want to put up with this dude's loud-breathing and gibbering the whole way through.

So, the assassin makes his way somewhat closer to the guy; he doesn't see the scales.] Hey. Guy. Pretty sure you ain't the only one here having a panic-attack, but you're the only one I hear. Keep it to yourself.

[ an afternoon in sunny florida should be a terrible inconvenience for john watson. not that he would usually pick a chilly runway in december, if he had the option – but he's having mixed feelings about the last piece of news he heard before he was brought here and the disparities in his own memory.

it's been almost three years since he heard any of this "hero" malarkey. aside from his newly acquired tattoo sitting beneath his jacket cuff, there are a few more silvery streaks in his hair, a gold wedding band ring on his left hand, and a handful of locals chattering away at him.

will you save him, hero? ]

the car engine roars and wheels screech, and that horrible crowd scatters just as the gleaming green Charger skids and snips the corner, sending a mailbox bouncing into the adjacent street.

he's stopped, smoke slowly wafting to nothing by the tires, and is fidgeting around in the seat, ducking and checking knobs and levers. again.

it takes a moment for him to look up and acknowledge he's half on the sidewalk.]

Quentin Quire | Marvel 616 option#3ish...kindaish

[ Those neat-o skateboards look pretty... neat-o. Something worth trying out to see if they are really in fact neat-o as they look, at least that's what Quentin tells himself. What kind of punk kid doesn't want to try out a hovercraft? Losers, that's who and Quentin Quire is no loser. Not that kind of loser anyways.

After chatting up with the local kids, he seems to get a hold of some sweet hover wheels for himself and decides to take them for a spin.

What could possibly go wrong?]

[What could possible go wrong? Nearly running someone over could be one thing. Which is what happens when Ghost isn't paying as much attention to her surroundings as she should.

Whether Quentin hits her or not the results are the same. Either in her attempt to avoid him at the last minuet or being entirely run over she falls. Her balance isn't always the best as it is so she's down. Since she's startled her arms flicker out completely causing her sleeves to go flat and her gloves to fall to the sidewalk beside her. The fall doesn't hurt much more than her pride.]

Kate Bishop | Marvel 616 | #2

[The last thing that Kate Bishop happens to be is a stranger to people liking superheroes. Though the opinions in New York tend to be mixed—some people worship them, other people rue the day they started being a mainstay there—she's not at all surprised at the perks available. Clint's had his moments of sharing the weird leeway he's had here and there (at least when he's recognized). Unlike her last stay in warmer climate—that is, her stint in Los Angeles—she'll take familiarity.

Even if the rest of it is unsettling. Being asked to be a hero, being asked to be a part of this, the overwhelming feeling of it all—yeah, instincts tell her that none of this is a good thing.

Kate isn't obviously wearing her instincts on her sleeve today. Oh, she's dressed in all purple (she is a Hawkeye), but she's not sporting a pair of sunglasses. No, her only gear is a to-do malt shake and a purse. Somewhere nearby, she's keeping her bow and quiver and she's tracked the six different ways to get there from any of her locations, but she isn't moving yet, instead stopping to smile for cameras and drink her malt drink slowly.

It's hit the point where she's so used to the routine that any new face from any direction earns a bright smile and a wave.]

Hi, I'm Kate. How are you? [She wants to seem warm and welcoming, after all, and it's not like she can tell people apart yet. Except for the occasional obvious costume, but she'll likely greet them the same way. Why not?]

[ There are many grounds to this place for which Bane is still coming accustomed, and this shop is one. Scandal Savage and himself have been assigned jobs, and this is to be her first day. As such, Bane sees it fit to have something waiting for her as compensation for a day of hard work; a malt shake seems suitable.

In his effort to treat one young woman, he is greeted by another. Bane pauses, and he suspects given the admiring stares in her direction that she is yet another imPort. ]

[Once all the 'welcome to a new world' bullshit is out of the way Ghost is left to do whatever she feels like. And what she feels like is punching someone but that's entirely out of the question unless she finds someone punch-worthy, so instead she's exploring.

It almost feels like home if not for the fact everything is partially stuck in the past. It's all very weird, especially the attention she's getting. She can feel the eyes on her as she walks, she knows her arms are off putting but she's grown past hiding them. Only some of the mutters seem to be more of excitement than disgust.

The stares and mutterings are nothing new but the fact that people don't seem disgusted with her puts her more at ease as she continues looking around.]

[ kanaya can't help but notice her, not too unlike everyone else, really. but they're just here for the spectacle, it isn't like they've ever been it themselves. there's always a person at the heart of it.

[There are a few facts that are very clear when it comes to this situation.

One: He's not a superhero.

Two: He doesn't want to be a superhero.

Three: He doesn't even know why he's on this building, because he's not supposed to be a superhero.

But wearing the costume is one way to get around mostly undetected. After a day or people asking for his autograph and being largely annoying, slipping into the shadows is generally a good thing. If he's going to be stuck here—and frankly, he doesn't even want to be—he'd rather few people even know he's here.

Of course, what he wants doesn't really matter, does it?

Kaine's well aware of those skateboarders, the speeding car, and everything in-between. He knows that there's no way those kids are going to live, but he tries to tell himself he doesn't care. In fact, he's saying it as he swings down and shoots webbing toward their backs to pull them out of the way. Sure, they'll lose their skateboards, but what does Kaine care?

(He doesn't. He really, really doesn't.)

Still, it's not so easy to explain once the kids' lives are saved, so he's stuck hanging off a telephone pole with a couple noisy kids that he doesn't want to just set down. Their whines are enough to inspire him to keep going, even if he's right out in the open.

He's really bad at being low-key.]

[ It's funny -- she's no hero, but that was an accident that could have been seen from a mile away. Felicia might have intervened if not for the webs that shoot down from the sky before she can give the thought much real consideration, which then begs the question...

Webs?

She's definitely not looking at Spider-Man, unless he got a makeover when she wasn't paying attention. A matter worth investigating. ]

Floyd Lawton, aka "Deadshot" | DCU (4)

After several blocks of walking and dealing with a real bad case of jet-lag, Floyd picked up on a loud, mechanical sound, coming from farther down the street cutting into his, and stopped at the intersection; he glanced over and caught sight of some Jetson car, booking it. Two police cars were already tailing it, so this was none of Floyd's concern. The Fuzz here could do what they were paid to and didn't need some new "hero" mucking up their work.

For whatever reason, the sniper's eyes tracked the first car and anticipated its trajectory. No sooner did his eyes stumble on some boys, who just turned the corner. The younger one had been trying to impress the older with a trick and fell off his board, off the sidewalk, and right in the path of the speeding vehicle. Kids. How long did it take 'em to get up after falling, again? A good minute, if they didn't take too long crying.

A glance back at the oncoming metal death-trap. The kids had about a minute.

Back to the kids. Oh, cripes. The younger boy was was bawling his eyes out and the older one'd joined him in the street, to help the brat up.

The assassin ran out, pretty much tackled those dumb-ass kids back onto the sidewalk while keeping himself positioned in the car's path, and then pulled down his sleeves, revealing his wrist-magnums. With ease, the wrist-magnums were pointed at the machine and released several rounds, punching through the metal and into the engine. His target was decimated, but the machine's momentum kept it going. In about...two-and-a-half seconds, the sniper guessed, he'd become an item on IHOP's menu; he really should've gotten on the sidewalk himself while he was getting those kids out of the way.

Oh well. This "hero" stint lasted about as long as he thought it would.

[ There's a woman standing somewhere out of the way (hopefully) of cars and pedestrians, holding a malt and looking at it very uncertainly. She's sort of... orangeish, which could be a bad spray-on tan if not for the fins, glowing dreadlocks, and webbed hands she's sporting. That pretty much solidifies "non human".

Once in a while she glances around her, eyes lingering on anyone with a malt like hers, and then she gets right back to watching hers unhappily. Apparently pulling back that veil and taking a sip is just entirely out of the question. ]

Hey! Are you gonna drink that?

[ jinx has already bounded up behind maria, which results in her shouting right into the poor woman's ear-- or fin, or whatever. she throws an amicable arm about maria's shoulders, standing on the tips of her toes as she leans in to inspect the malt. ] It's not gonna drink itself if you stare at it, you know. Unless that's your power or something? Haha, lame!

Jack Frost | Rise of the Guardians | 2 & 4

[ It's a baffling experience. To be alone for over three-hundred-years and then to wake up and be told you're a hero, by the military no less, has sent alarm bells off and gone against Jack's very nature; he doesn't work for people, the very idea makes his skin prickle and a frown sink in. Indignantly, with an old man's stubbornness, he thinks I'd like to see them try to draft me and refuses to take part in the swear-in ceremony. It's too stringent, too ... official, and he only just swore his Guardian Oath. It's too much attention at once. He sticks around because people can see him and that is as astonishing as it is mildly terrifying, because these are adults. It's not just one or two kids anymore, it's a crowd waving to him on the street and getting an astonished look in return.

He backs away from the people offering him drinks, vying for good manners and coming off brusque when he shoots away on the wind's back, flying right around the corner where he lands in a tree on the sidewalk and catches his breath. Ice crackles down the bark and along the railings encircling the base, gaining more pointed looks and excited calls.

Jack yanks up his hood and starts to wonder if he shouldn't just fly to the Workshop, maybe try to find North himself. Of course, by that point, it's already starting to snow all over the block owing to his awful mood. ]

[ The children are the ones who eventually calm Jack down, once it becomes clear North and others aren't around. The weird mark on his wrist turns to AWOL, which he really thinks nothing of; he did just spend half a day scouring the North Pole. He's not interested in playing by the rules of people who can't guarantee his friends' safety, anyway. He returns to Florida (It's way too hot here) and their cheering and kindnesses make him smile as he turns a corner of the sidewalk into a winter wonderland complete with snowmen to the shrieked delight of not only little ones, but teenagers too. And they like him, as tall and thin as he is, despite the fact that visually almost nearing his twenties he should have better things to do than muck around playing snowballs. They ask if they can touch his staff, ruffle his crazy white hair, they ask Do you need some new pants, Mr. Frost? Yours are kind of old, no offense, my brother's got spares. If it weren't for the screaming of an engine around the far corner, he'd have thought it was all a hilarious dream.

No one else seems to know what to do, and he's been at this sort of thing for so long that it's instinct which kicks him out into the road, shearing a river of ice right up off the concrete to encase the hurtling car in crisp, hardening Arctic frost; jarring as hell for anyone inside but they shouldn't have been speeding like that. ]

Should've checked the forecast for cold snaps. [ Panting, angry at the drivers, Jack asks over a shoulder, ] Is everyone alright?

[ He doesn't expect an answer, accustomed to talking to himself, so when the boys and girls on skateboards race over to hug him (and kick the frozen car), he bursts into a relieved grin and awkwardly pats them on the head.

The police, however, don't seem to think he's done them a favor at all. Oh, crap. ]

[Rose is no expert. This is not like the city, where she could tap a newcomer on the shoulder with a smug look and ask if they were alright. She still feels just as out of sorts as Jack likely does.

[ There's a flashy red car rolling smoothly down the street, and it doesn't at all fit in. For one thing, it looks about 60 years out of place (no one around here has flame decals on the side but him? really, no one?), and for another, those wheels are firmly on the ground. It also appears to be muttering to itself, should you get close enough. ]

...No appreciation for aerodynamics in that one. How can they expect it to break 50 miles an hour? Humans, I swear...

[ He'll make an attempt to shut up if anyone gets close enough to look at him funny — nothing to see here, just a normal Earth car — but he's a little distracted with all the things around him. ]

[Her arrival could only be described as awkward. One moment she'd been watering some plants aboard the Exodar and the next she's being greeted by a group of humans. Humans that are oddly the same size as her. Wait...that's not right.

It's only when she starts to walk that she notices something is off. Her center of balance is completely different and she ends up tripping over her own feet. She's caught by one of those that greeted her but that does nothing to stop the panic. Magic to put on the illusion of being another race is nothing new back home but it's not something she's ever learned to do and she's fairly certainly it doesn't cause problems like this.

She looks down at herself, holding her breath as if that'll make her not see what she does see. Her legs are strange, no longer ungulate but plantigrade. What more is that her skin is no longer a dusky purple but brown. Not that reddish brown of Orc skin but rather that of some darker skinned humans she's met in the past. Her tail is gone as are her claws and horns and everything else that makes her not human.

Confusion gives way to anger but her magic doesn't seem to be working at the moment and the most she can do is punch someone in the face before they restrain her. It takes some time to sort everything out but once it is she's on her way and she's not happy about it.

A hero, that's what they expect of her...

All that was several hours ago and despite feeling drained -- wanting nothing more than to sleep and wake up to find this had all been a dream -- she's trying to get an idea of what she's in for. What she finds is a shock. The car they'd shoved her into to take her to her new home had been bad enough but seeing that they're everywhere is frightening. Like miniature ships floating along above a road, something she'd been told is dangerous to cross unless the lights say it's okay or the crossing guard gives the go ahead.

She's skittish, both astonished and scared of everything she comes across. Everything here is so far ahead of Azeroth...]

[ To the unknowing bystander, there was little about her that didn't suggest "human" -- particularly to a bystander who's half-blind and not paying close attention. Harvey Dent saunters up next to her at a crosswalk, looking forward and by all momentary appearances, normal himself.

But her skittishness isn't easily ignored. He turns his head, exposing the left side to her as he scowls in unrestrained impatience, assuming she's just anxious about waiting for the light. ]

Where's the hell's the fire, lady? The light'll change, whatever it is you're in such a rush for ain't going nowhere.

[her mind is still fuzzy with a sedative, having nearly struck the female soldier upon her approach and freezing the strange metal contraption they had been leading her towards. anxiety was never something she handled well, strange and new places outside the comfort of her room drove her powers to near bursting. snow and wind and ice and then suddenly she had been out and now, standing among a welcoming crowd, head full with an unnatural frost of having just woken up from something, Elsa seems a bit...

dazed. but she's coming to and she's heading towards somewhere, anywhere away from the crowd. she maneuvers herself quickly away from anyone friendly who tries to approach and welcome her.

don't mind the strange white woman in the glittering gown doing her best to make her way away from the crowd all while trying not to touch anyone, arms wrapped around her defensively as she tries to find someplace to be alone.]

[ A strange place, full of strange humans, strange smells; it's a lot for Ace to take in, but he manages to do so without breaking much of his stride. He's faced enough strange happenings that this is by far one of the more non-life threatening ones. The people seemed friendly, though why any of the ones attempting to 'debrief' him got long, wary looks and the occasional friendly tail wag up until they made it clear they could understand him just fine. That right there had been the most disorienting part of this.

Humans didn't talk!

Not to animals, anyway, though if he had it right, he was the one who could speak human now. That was even stranger, uncomfortable even. What was he supposed to say to humans? You'd think there would be a ton you'd like to tell them, like to stop buying the bad tasting food or where the rabbits kept coming in under the fence, but none of that applied here. These weren't his caretakers.

In any case, Ace isn't going to immediately spring around chatting up whoever else was still lingering where they'd all arrived at. He takes his time, skirting along the edge of the group as their hosts try to chat with them or wrangle them into getting into cars, nose to the ground for the most part.

He's trying to pick up a scent, several of them, very specific, but there's not much of a lead here. He stops to huff, blowing air out his nose as he raises his head. ]

There really isn't a trail back. That's no good...

[ Gil's not quite sure if he heard that right or if he was supposed to have heard anything at all. He blinks, a little hazy due to the heat, expecting the dog's form before him to disappear like some mirage, maybe reveal itself to be human.

He carefully keeps watch of the hour -- with his pocketwatch seeming incredibly outdated, along with the majority of his fashion. The seconds tick by, past the limitations of Van Helsing's serum, and nothing comes. No burn. No pain. There is nothing.

Has his humanity returned? Doubtful. He still feels as powerful and he can bear fangs if he attempts it. This is something else.

There is technology here which stretches beyond the imagination of his company. It amazes him, and often he pauses, staring in quiet admiration. He looks out of place, given his clothes and his obvious surprise at 'modern' marvels, but he is by no means intimidated by this change.

He has seen worse things to be frightened of. ]

as subtly as she can, Madison waves her hand, making the two cop cars turn inward and crash into each other. the speeding vehicle mows through the group of kids, sending their boards flying off in different directions. one lands near Madison's feet. she smirks. now, to find that daiquiri...]

[Christine can't quite say she's a fan of the super hero deal - she'd rather be by the pool sipping and dragging a cigarette herself - and ever since the government decided to dictate whether or not she can go where she pleases, she's been simply yearning for the day they fall on their asses and apologize on their knees.

She could bring them to do that for her, even if just for a moment. But actions have consequences and hers wouldn't be very welcome.

Which brings her to the girl, blond hair and loud attire, motioning her hand to cause a little chaos and a big mess. Christine does absolutely nothing to help - not even throw and accusing glare Madison's way. She simply follows.]

[ Over the years, Jack has developed a habit of talking back to people without actually being addressed. He slips up here, in this odd version-yet-not of the world he knows, and winds up commenting right back at the young lady without thinking.

He's leaning on his staff, slouching even, and has his hood up with a smattering of fresh ice all over his shoulders that looks like it is putting up a valiant fight against the sun. Having planted himself while he takes everything in, a warning crackle of frost under his hands wards off most of the ushering officials who have unanimously decided to 'Give him five'. Uh huh. He glances at her by way of a muted apology, uncertain whether she even wants to speak to anyone. ]

Hi, sorry. It's pretty hot, yeah.

[Cecil's accustomed to a glaring sun. He's perfectly acquainted with mysterious, ubiquitous, and seemingly indifferent soldiers. The faintly shimmering tattoo on his wrist is to be expected, if he's been drafted for some secretive new program. He's an American, and he's happy to be of service.

But -- Florida? God. Why.

He rubs the side of his face in agitation as the debriefing soldier approaches, but he's not sure what he should do. It's his instinct to comply with all government mandates, no matter how nonsensical, but what he's hearing does stretch the imagination. It's a slow, leisurely stretch, though. Nothing too painful. Just mildly disorienting, at worst.

I'm always eager to be a helpful and productive citizen, but I do hope this program has an end date. Preferably well before 'never'.

[his bearings were never really something he needed to get, and his disorientation was brief enough that it was a question of whether or not it was there at all. the thing about Loki was that he could make any situation work for him. any situation. well, maybe there had been some exceptions.

this was not an exception.

being asked to be a hero was befitting of the role. actually, it comes as unsurprising and a tad unsettling in the way that the role sort of found him unsettled. his discomfort, per usual, was more with himself than his surroundings, and he took to wondering why the condensation against his fingers and the straw in his mouth really felt so good. (malts were really just the bees knees.) the irony wasn't lost on him (he sort of lived for it), even as he waved away eager patrons with ready cameras.

(he had been fiddling around enough with the device they gave him to know most of its functions. it was different, but comparative.)

no, Loki was never a hero. Loki was pretty much just Loki, and as he thought as the next pair of on-lookers gawked, but he could play with it. the pair of golden horns and overly-detailed, terribly pretentious jacket sort of gave him away. despite the brief bouts of annoyance, there were windows of opportunity here, and he could play along a little while.

[ This car, parked very inconspicuously at the curbside (and blending in not at all with the other cars), really has to wonder what it is about that movie that makes humans keep quoting it. (Sorry, Loki, you look human enough.)

[The only thing keeping her from flipping her shit and hitting someone is that the woman in front of her is a) a woman, and b) a soldier. It's not that she thinks all soldiers are good people, if anyone knows that, she does, but she can get a feel for them in a way she can't for regular humans. The woman doesn't mean her any harm, which keeps her calm enough.

Which isn't to say she looks happy, but her posture is straight and she's focused in a way that seems out of place considering she'd looks as though she'd be more at home in an underground punk club than in the military.

Still, as soon as she's been briefed, she takes a chance to slip away rather than getting into the car. She's been to Florida before, but it's not one of her favourite places in the world, and she idly rubs at the tattoo on her wrist as she looks around.

A minute later, a raven flies over and settles on her shoulder, which is the first thing of this whole experience to make her smile, even as the bird fusses at her messy hair, trying to smooth it down.]

[There's no time to plan her reaction; Kara sees the kids in the path of the car and springs forward, wings snapping out behind her (don't ask how she was keeping an eight foot wingspan hidden) to lift her a few feet off the ground and give her an extra burst of speed. Even then, she only just manages to get the kids in time; it's not particularly graceful, she just tackles them both out of the way of the vehicle, though she does at least slow down before hitting the ground, so it's more of a gentle tumble than a hard crash.

Which still results in an awkward pile of kids, limbs and Kara's wings, but at least no one's roadkill.]

[Connors spots the kids at the same time Kara does. Fortunately for him, a girl with an eight foot wingspan is a lot faster than a middle-aged man, so she thankfully manages to push them all out of the way. However, he can't help but wince in sympathy pain as they crash to the ground. Running over to them, he looks down at the kids and superhero pile.

It's been ages since he did any actual medical work, but he can recognize enough that everybody looks particularly fine. Beat up and scraped, but nothing's broken. Still, he feels it best to ask,]

[ It's still pretty tough to swallow. The briefing, the idea of super powers... Even though she'd imagined something similar a thousand times. A letter notifying her of her late acceptance into the wizarding world, maybe admittance into Hogwarts University. This is just as incredible, but not really what she'd had in mind.

Still, even though she's worried about Pawnee, and friends in Pawnee (and cute, secretly sweet budget killers in pawnee), it's proving pretty easy to get swept up in the joy of the people who are excited to see her. She's got a milkshake that is about %60 whipped cream, and she can feel happiness radiating from nearly every person she passes. It's almost like a constant gift-giving high. She might be able to get used to this for a while, actually. ]

[ Oh God. This is it. A cop chase! Children in danger! This is the moment of truth! What was it that folder said she could do again? Does she have time to check it real quick? No, probably not. ]

[ She holds out a hand. If she can create things out of thin air, why not a barrier to help those kids out? There's not really time to think though! She'll just concentrate as hard as she can, and...

[Is this woman a fellow new import? It doesn't matter; either way, Haruhi will do her best to help out. The uniformed schoolgirl runs to catch up with the situation. Okay, what she has to do is stop the car. That will give time for the screwdriver to become useful somehow, right?

Haruhi takes a huge jump and body slams onto the hood of the car. This is clearly a pole-vaulting level of skill, not exactly "leap tall buildings in a single bound". She balances herself on all fours and looks back to wink at Ms. Knope, her conspiratorial grin betraying only a hint of twitchy nervousness.]

[An apparently ordinary person is being poked by a quarter held tightly in the fist of a Japanese teenager in a classic sailor fuku schoolgirl uniform. She looks for all the world like a Metrocon guest who got lost, except she's working on a gigantic ice cream sundae that the owners gave her gratis, the first of many import perks she's going to discover.]

[What a shame that Lecter wasn't able to get there before the car hit those children. The street is now littered with pieces of their broken hoverboards and one young girl's shoe is sitting alone in the the middle of the asphalt. As he moves into the scene and begins to take control, Lecter notes that despite the panic and hurry everyone is giving a single, pink trainer more space than the bodies.

He was once an emergency doctor and the men here know his history; therefore, he is obliged to make himself useful. Pulling his jacket off and rolling his sleeves up, he kneels beside one of the injured children and feels her neck, checking her pupil response, before gesturing for someone else to come to his side.]

[ The sound of the crash is impossible to miss and like most crashes it draws a crowd rather quickly; Gideon, passing by, also gets the pass to mumble that he's a doctor in order to get allowed closer to the accident victims. He comes up behind the man already attending the scene, registering an abstract sense of recognition from the voice before the man's address draws him closer. Barely thinking about it he rolls up his own sleeves, as if compelled by the suggestion that he may be needed. ]

Dr. Gideon. [ He shifts his line of sight to the child. ] Is she alive?
