QUIT RUNNING IN THE HOUSE

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

    02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

    03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

    04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Rorschach / Watchmen

02.
[There's a short red-haired man looking incredibly out of place amongst all the the heroes and the tourists. The placard he's holding proclaims THE END IS NIGH, and marks him as neither a tourist nor one of the heroes.

He keeps to himself, approaching no one but wandering the area and making sure everyone has a chance to read his sign and repent (unlikely. scum of the earth. too busy gorging themselves to care). He won't shy away if approached directly.]

your numbers and prompts make rorschach sick.
[It's the middle of the night and there's a man standing just out of brightness of a streetlight. He has a coat and hat on that obscure most of his features, and a mask which seems to be moving in the half light. Oh god, I think he's watching you.]

[Floyd Lawton is returning home, when he gets a look at this weirdo.

Huh.

For the hell of it, Floyd pulls out his own nearly featureless, white mask and puts it on; he gives a quick wave, and then moves on to a nearby convenience store for cigs.

[Rorschach moves to stand outside. (Wait, you mean that part where you put on your mask wasn't secret code for come talk to me, maskbro?)

He has no business in the store, and if the other man causes any trouble he is ready. He's never seen this particular masked man before and he doesn't know whether he can be trusted.

The odds aren't high that he can be.]

[There is an armed robbery starting up in the convenience store. True to the other man's expectations, Floyd does not intervene. Let alone react it. Even when they start threatening him.

No. It's not until they start threatening the cashier that Floyd intervenes, in the way that only he would.
] Alright. Dumbasses. Gimme the gun. I'll show you the proper way of pullin' offa convenience store heist. [And, sure enough, he shows the proper way of threatening a cashier--with a real low voice, so as not to freak him out and alert others of the heist. The assassin, then, takes money and cigs from the cashier and starts beating the guys up with the cash register.

Calmly, he lights up a cig, tells the cashier to call up the police, and hands back the money.

But not the cigs.

Oh.

Oh. What now, Walt?

[ It may be the middle of the night, but this is when the worst of Heropa are the most active. One would think that in a city so saturated with heroes -- even ones like these registered sorts that don't deserve the title -- but yet here these sorts were, still causing trouble.

Hooded Justice doesn't even notice it, the man underneath the streetlight, when he tears from alley to another, a blur of red and black, cape flashing behind him, and in the opposite alley, the one that would be right in Rorschach's field of vision came a scream, something that sounded almost choked and broken -- before it cut off suddenly. If one listened carefully, they would hear the sick sound of flesh being beaten.

When he was finished, he exited the alley, and it was only then that he stopped, and observed the other man under the streetlight. There was no stop like one that said he was startled, but instead he slowed, and observed -- stared back -- the only thing that could be seen was his eyes, and that was plenty. He almost looked wilde, before he slowly started to approach, curious about this one.

But in true Hooded Justice fashion, he wasn't much of a talker.

[ And Crematia is watching the man as well, mostly because she can't figure out his face. Just when she thinks she sees it right, it changes.

She is across the street underneath a streetlight as well, dirty yellow light cast a pallid color over her pale form. Long, fire-red hair loose and wild goes down her black short dress like lava on black volcanic rock. A few men approached her, but they do not stay long for Crematia's company, looking for less homicidal options. Although to be fair to the johns, she is dressed not too far from a prostitute herself, but this is what happens when a dragon pays little attention to fashion.

Curiosity soon takes the best of her and she walks toward to the man with the shifting face. ]
