QUIT RUNNING IN THE HOUSE

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Ron Perlmanvoice is definitely a man's voice. She's seen men who transformed into werewolves of a sort, women with snake-like features, shape shifting aliens who've stolen her face and even managed to peak into her memories.
Whatever this is supposed to be, it actually surprises her. But she's not intimidated; she walks straight up to him and upon hearing him, asks: ]
Fresh out of the Porter lab?
[ He seems harmless. If not, well, she's fought things roughly his size before. ]
the hellboy/kate ship is now called kateboy
Hellboy's facial expressions are often difficult to read by people who don't know him well, something that is at times extremely inconvenient and at other times something for which he's kind of grateful. Now is one of the latter moments; he rolls his eyes when this woman approaches, but because his eyes are without a visible sclera, it basically just comes across as a slight pause. Maybe if she's staring at the tiny micromovements of the muscles around his eyes, she'll be able to tell, but. He's not counting on it.
Lowering his hand to his side, he turns halfway to look at her and oh boy, that's a redhead. Maybe this place isn't so bad.]
I guess so. [What's your name, is that a costume...
He just hopes she has a pen because somebody walked away with his at least ten autographs ago.]
hellboy you can't ship yourself with lesbians
Her own tattoo is concealed with jewelry: a thick cuff she keeps on her wrist that no one, at least the locals, don't think twice about. ]
The housing complexes are the other way.
[ She has no idea where he's headed, but most people start with their new "homes". ]
i do what i want
His tattoo is, naturally, on his normal arm. He doesn't like thinking about it; he still feels a little violated about the whole thing.
At her suggestion, he blinks and turns to look over his shoulder. That's not where he thought this conversation was going to go.]
Right. I wanted to get an idea of where I was... living, first. The city, I mean. [Apartments are probably going to be a hell of a lot less interesting, anyway.
He looks back at her.]
And you're...?
[An extremely helpful townie?]

An imPort.
Lt. Ananke didn't hand you your file? It tells you which house you'll be staying at.
[ If he chooses to accept it, that is. ]

He tilts his head slightly, the corner of his mouth twitching once as he shoves his hand in his coat pocket.]
Oh, I thought that was just paperwork. [Jokes............... actual inappropriately timed joker extraordinaire Hellboy. It's a compulsion.
But anyway. People keeping files on him made Hellboy's skin crawl a little bit -- he's still getting acclimated to the whole idea, and somehow... for some reason... he thought that a nice stroll would be preferable to playing Three's Company with people he doesn't even know. But at least any theoretical roommates wouldn't be asking for autographs. He thinks.
The file has been rolled into a tube because Hellboy is that sort of guy, but he produces it from his coat without much preamble. Of course, now he has to kind of keep it in a perpetual state of tension or it's going to roll right back up again, but. It's at least intact.]
Here we go.

It should have the address. We're all shuffled into one area.
[ She doesn't step closer or attempt to peer at his file. It's rude and as curious as she is, she isn't stupid enough to pull off something like that. ]
