DAD BOD MAKE WAY FOR TUXEDO BOD

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory might be a haze still and you might even feel frustrated or anxious by the sudden news that you are no longer in your own world and that the Porter scientists and military cannot send you back. You don't get a chance to linger long in the underground Porter lab, but something is clearly amiss; light patches on the floor indicate something else used to sit in that spot in the room. Parts of the wall, floor and the tables look as if they have been refurbished in the past few months -- something happened in here some time ago. Something big.
You're ushered out quickly and then suddenly, you're enveloped in a faint blue blue light before you find yourself under the bright Floridian sun. Another soldier steps toward you with a smile, directing your attention to a car near a large gate. She mentions she'll be debriefing you soon, handing out a brown folder and a pamphlet. You don't see the digital tattoo on your wrist, but it's quickly explained on your way over to the car as you realize there are other confused faces nearby, all holding files of their own.
02. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to help cool you down in this awfully nauseating heat. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change?" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "Didn't you hear about that attack? They saved all those puppies! I hope you donated to ShareTheLove too."
03. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.
Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"
04. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately. On local newsstands will be headlines reading: "Maurtia Falls: Home To Vampire Infestations?", and people will be heard muttering fearfully about the vampires, though one or two can be heard saying, "But that imPort is taking care of her own, right? That pretty one, with the horns. Good on her."
People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and compliment them for quick thinking at the last Swear-In. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.
05. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. As the New Year approaches, advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, festivities, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

[Yeah, seriously, Ray. What lord?
But your glee in alchemy makes her smile. Okay, it's kind of a wry smile but it's still very much a smile.]
Changing lead to gold is against the law but Ed's done something like that in the past. He did change it back!
[She hastens to add.]

[Yeah, Alchemy is MUCH more interesting than any deities that may or may not exist, as shown by how much faster his note taking had gotten. Still, the handwriting was pretty neat, all things considered.]
Huh...if there are laws governing its use, then it must be a widespread phenomenon! Or at the very least used openly enough to be common knowledge among the people. What other laws are there for its use? Does it have any real limit to what you can do with it? How about practical uses and applications in real world scenarios?
[Sorry Winry, he has a LOT of questions and they're all coming out a mile a minute here.]
no subject
I can't answer all that! I'm not an alchemist! But a lot of alchemists join the military in my country - not all of them, but a lot.
[She'll leave out the fact they're not always looked on kindly for being military alchemists.] One of my best friends did, the other didn't. [Alphonse might as well have, considering he traveled everywhere with Ed...]
There is a military alchemist here in this world. Colonel Mustang. He might answer your questions about alchemy.

[And he'll finish his notes off by scribbling down Colonel Mustang, it was definitely a name he was going to remember.]
Yeesh...that might be easier said than done, private sectors like the military aren't usually too keen on letting secrets out. If you don't know, that's probably because they don't want people to know.
[But his smile comes back all the same, he'd never let anything like that stop him before.]
Oh well, its worth a try, right? Oh yeah! Before I forget, I'm Ray! Actually its Raymond but...let's just stick with Ray, yeah?
[And have a friendly hand extended towards you, it never hurt to offer a handshake in greeting!]
no subject
[She won't say that Scar killed off a lot of the alchemists.
And she takes his hand and gives it a shake.]
It's nice to meet you, Ray. I'm Winry Rockbell.
no subject
[Like invade different dimensions and take on the form of a 50 foot marshmallow man.]
But hey, its a pleasure to meet you Winry! Have you been here long? Or did you just arrive like me?
no subject
I've been here for over a year and a half now.
no subject
[He's got that sparkle in his eyes again. You might not be able to answer questions about Alchemy, but he also wanted to know about this world.]
So...what do you know about this whole tension with the USSR? And about the heroes and the nanites they injected us with? I have my theories, but any light you could shed on things would be appreciated.
no subject
It's...strange. They talk about a lot of threats but I haven't seen much of it myself.
Everyone here is given powers by the Porter when we arrive. Unless...like Ed, he didn't gain anything, he just had his alchemy. ['Just'.] But I became able to heal other people and to manipulate metal.
The nanites are for our protection. Kind of. [Winry shows Ray her wrist and the 'Registered' tattoo.] They can heal us, too, just not as fast as a healer can.
no subject
[Powers, huh? He hadn't yet discovered any powers of his own, but at the same time, he hadn't had much time to himself to experiment with it. He wondered just what exactly he was able to do?]
Well, healing is always useful, even if you can do it yourself, and being able to manipulate metal definitely sounds nifty. Not the strangest thing I've ever seen, but the applications are almost endless!
[In a world where capturing ghosts was his day to day job...it was hard to be surprised. He'll scoot over for Winry at her gesture, making one of his own towards the bench; he didn't want to hog the whole thing after all!]
no subject
[She means that, too.]
But your folder ought to tell you what your powers are. That's how I found out about mine.
[Winry isn't sure whether to mention she'd been learning magic. Sometimes that makes people react oddly.]
no subject
[He pulled it up off the bench and began to pour over it again, putting his college days to use in spark noting important information until...]
Power...Capture Stream? Like my Proton Pack? What the heck does that mean? What, am I just supposed to hold out my hand and expect...
[And to make a point, he held out his hand away from him to mock the idea...until a red and blue beam erupted from his hand, lancing out wildly until it hit a nearby trashcan and seemingly wrapped around it, lifting it slightly off the ground and holding it firmly in place.]
...holy toledo.
[Yeah, he doesn't have the words for this right now.]
no subject
That's...different!
