MOM CAN YOU DROP ME OFF? (IN RUSSIA?)

TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place! If you'd like, take a look at our ATP post!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at someone else's thread, either!

And remember to have fun!

    01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change? Why if they weren't around, I bet the Soviets--" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "You couldn't do what they do even if you had powers. They don't have to help us, you know!"

    02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

    03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately, contrasted by headlines broadcasting petty, unimportant local news and no worldly news.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and thank them for their hard work. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

    04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. Advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, merchandise, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

They are fascinating machines. There are even certain models built entirely for racing.
historiology: (That’s the rule)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-25 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
For racing? Those ones are probably even faster then, wow! I wonder how they work....?

[There's no horse to propel their movement or anything. This isn't quite the same as history, as Sorey's preoccupation with ruins and such, but it's still curious, still fascinating and rather amazing. Such things humans could be capable of, if given the time and resources like this.

He could just imagine Rose and what she could potentially be capable of with all this, with her merchant field and all.]

I’m no expert on the inner workings of a car, other than knowing that having to get one repaired often costs more money than it’s worth. You’re better off finding a book on the subject if you want the particulars.

Oh, true! There's probably a library around here somewhere.

[Which of course Sorey will likely half live at, at least initially as he figures out more about this strange place and it's technology.

Among looking up probably most if not all their history books, of course.]

[ Someone please never show this child Indiana Jones. ] It would probably be a good place to figure out how things work here, in any case.

If I may change the subject slightly, your clothes are rather unique. Is that the style in your world?
historiology: (Should be destroyed)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-25 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[More like this is clearly obligatory and inevitable he would discover Indi at some point.]

The library is always a good place to start! I've learned a lot just from reading, even back home. But ah...I guess my clothes do kind of stick out. I don't think they're that different, besides the Shepherd cloak Alisha gave me anyway.....

[So, that's a 'not really'. More his cloak is specific to the Shepherd title. His shirt and pants underneath are plain enough in comparison.]

[ Soreyana Jones, everybody. ]

Shepherd? Do you literally herd sheep or does that title hold a different meaning?
historiology: (For the world)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-25 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[He'd be all over it.]

Er, well, that's the literal and usual meaning. Yes. But back home there were legends about the Shepherd. A person that would come and save everyone! For the short version, I guess. Though the Shepherd gets their power to help from their contract with the seraphim. For me, that's Lailah. She's my Prime Lord. And then there's Mikleo and Edna as her Sub Lords also helping me.

[At the very. Very basics. He's trying not to go too overboard and overwhelm Matthias right off the bat at least.]
necrologic: (005)

[personal profile] necrologic 2016-01-26 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ Congrats, Sorey. You have Matthias' full attention. ]

Seraphim? Do you mean angels or some other type of spiritual being?
historiology: (Let it guide us)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-26 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
I guess you could call them spirits, yeah. Only humans with a high level of resonance can see and hear them though. Most are lucky if they can sense them.

[Which is sad, okay. Everyone should be able to meet his friends. And admire Mikleo's looks. They are missing out, in Sorey's opinion.]

Things changed a lot. In the past, seraphs used to live alongside humans and they co-existed. Not anymore....but that would be my dream. If that could happen again.
necrologic: (012)

[personal profile] necrologic 2016-01-26 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Were humans able to see the seraphim in the past, or have they always been largely invisible?
historiology: (White light)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-26 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
It has to do with how resonant someone is. Maybe previously people had naturally higher resonance and that's been happening less more recently, it's hard to say. But I've always been able to see them. So if someone did want to talk to Mikleo or one of the others, I could help.

[He doesn't even need to hold his breath and close his senses off entirely so much anymore! It's some progress.]
necrologic: (004)

[personal profile] necrologic 2016-01-26 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
When you say "resonance" do you mean something along the lines of spiritual sensitivity?

My own abilities lie in that direction, so I'm curious to know if I would be able to see your friends or not.
historiology: (An Exciting First Journey)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-26 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. I guess you could say it's something like that. Depending on how strong your sensitivity is, you might be able to see Mikleo and the others. I mean, if any of them are here. I haven't seen any of them so far though....

[Which doesn't necessarily mean they aren't around somewhere. Sorey just hasn't seen them yet if they are. Missed them among the crowds and everything else distracting him upon arrival and all.]
necrologic: (012)

[personal profile] necrologic 2016-01-26 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think my own abilities are decent. If you happen to run across one of them, please let me know. I'm interested to see how what I can do translates across worlds.
historiology: (Go love to love)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-26 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Sure! They don't meet a lot of people that can see and hear them, so if you could, that'd be great!

[Sorey would never deny his seraph friends the chance to make such bonds with those they can actually communicate with, especially if they can without Sorey's assistance. Sorey would be only happy to facilitate this if possible, if he were to find his friends, to introduce them.]
necrologic: (003)

[personal profile] necrologic 2016-01-26 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course. I rather make a living talking to people that can’t be seen by others.

[ Well, technically, he makes his living working with dead bodies, but he’s been doing the former much, much longer. ]
historiology: (Let’s swallow up)

[personal profile] historiology 2016-01-27 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they'll be happy if there are more people around that they can talk to. That can see them.

[It may take a little adjusting for them when the seraphs are so used to it just being Sorey and Rose, but even so. He can't see why that would be a problem, that the others wouldn't be glad for it.]

Still. It's....different here.

[Not in a bad way. But it is. Nobody knows Sorey, recognizes his clothing as the Shepherd to expect anything of him. At least, not specifically. He is still obviously one of the imPorts, but that burden isn't just his alone either.]
