01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change? Why if they weren't around, I bet the Soviets--" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "You couldn't do what they do even if you had powers. They don't have to help us, you know!"

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately, contrasted by headlines broadcasting petty, unimportant local news and no worldly news.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and thank them for their hard work. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. Advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, merchandise, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

[That makes her laugh.]

Guess that's somethin' I'll have to pick up too. Hey, I've been ignoring things for years, what's one more, right?

Exactly. S'what fuck-ups do, yeah? [ She actually smiles at that. ]

[helladoomed]

[Chloe raised her beer in salute.]

Exactly. So you got any movies or music? Otherwise I'll probably just keep bitching all night.

[coppelganger]

I prefer sitting in the dark with my feelings. [ She's joking. Totally joking. She grabs her laptop from the table and opens it. ] My music's on here. Unfortunately the punk scene never really took off in this universe, but you can find some good stuff if you look hard enough. Movies are over there— [ She gestures to the TV, which has a decent-sized collection next to it. ]

[helladoomed]

[Chloe's face falls at the thought of no punk music scene,and then the beer-fuzz fades for a moment and she grins.]

Oh man.

[She sits up long enough to tug her cell phone from her back pocket, tossing it over.]

Pretty much all the music I own is on that thing. Years and years and years of punk music.

[coppelganger]

[ Sarah catches the phone and starts to look through Chloe's music collection. She looks genuinely excited when she sees how much of the music she's been missing is on there. ]

Oh, shit. I wonder if there's any way we could transfer this stuff.

[helladoomed]

Dunno. Probably? Just need a USB cable.

[She frowns.]

Whiiiiiich...I'm gonna need to charge that anyway. They do have them right?

[Weird 50's world.]

[coppelganger]

'Course they do, but the chargers here probably won't connect to the phone from your universe. Everything's bloody weird here.

[helladoomed]

[That hadn't even actually occurred to her, and she sat up in surprise.]

Turn it off then! I've got pictures and shit on there I need.

[coppelganger]

[ She turns the phone off and hands it back. ]

There are a lot of really smart people here. You'll be able to find someone who can help set you up with a charger that'll work. [ Probably. Maybe. ]

[helladoomed]

[She takes it back and clicks the screen back on, flipping through the two pictures on her wallpaper and smiling faintly. It hadn't occurred to her to check and make sure they were there but...there they were. Rachel and Max. Okay. Then she turned it back off and powered it down.]

Yeah, hopefully. I mean, there has to be some way to get the pictures off it, at least.

[coppelganger]

Wish I could help, but I didn't even have a phone with me when I got here.

[ Well, she did, but it was just a burner phone. No pictures or anything she needed to transfer. ]

[helladoomed]

...That would suck.

[She seems to think of something and turns to look over at the picture of Sarah's daughter, then back.]

How'd you get the picture then? Just had it on you?

[coppelganger]

[ Sarah follows her gaze to the picture, then looks away. ]

It's weird. The last thing I remember's being down in Mexico or some shit. I don't know why the picture came with me. [ She's glad it did, though. It's the only thing she has of Kira while she's stuck in this universe, and even though it hurts to look at the picture, it would hurt worse not to have it. ]

[helladoomed]

Maybe that porter machine isn't completely awful. Made sure you had what you needed.

[It was probably wrong, but Chloe could occasionally be positive.]

[coppelganger]

Maybe. [ She almost says something about how it's nice that it gives dead people a second chance at life, at least, but she catches herself at the last second because wow, Sarah, shut up. ]

Anyway— [ Because talking about Kira is depressing her— ] Where are you from? America, yeah?

[helladoomed]

Oregon. [She smirks.] A little seaside down called Arcadia Bay.

[Which she died for, so she has mixed feelings here.]

Lived there my whole life. It was pretty boring.

[coppelganger]

Sounds it. Oregon's nice, though. Generally.

[helladoomed]

Nice weather. Just...no where to go. Nothing to do.

[Chloe would've done so much better if just a few things had been different...but wasn't that everyone's excuse?]

And you're from, what, England? Guessing from the accent.

[coppelganger]

Yeah, Brixton, but we moved to Toronto when I was twelve. And after I dropped out of school I went all over for a while.

[ She always finds her way back to Toronto, though. ]

[helladoomed]

That was my plan. Going all over, I mean. Well, Rachel was gonna go to LA and be a model, I'd go with her. But then she...well, anyway, I was trying to get some money together to pay back a guy first...

[IE: Drug dealer.]

We actually did it, right? If things had gone just a little different...

[Well, no. She was always fucked.]

[coppelganger]

[ "Pay back a guy"... she's suddenly thinking of Vic, and all the shit she did for him. ]

Been in that situation before. [ She can't judge Chloe for that. She was doing the same shit at that age. She was just lucky enough not to get killed over it. ]

[helladoomed]

First time for me. Actually pulled it off. Parted on good terms, even. How crazy is that?

[She laughs.]

Maybe I can do it here? I mean this is like...weirdo 50s earth, but it's still earth right?

[coppelganger]

[ She tips her beer toward Chloe. ]
