01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change? Why if they weren't around, I bet the Soviets--" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "You couldn't do what they do even if you had powers. They don't have to help us, you know!"

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately, contrasted by headlines broadcasting petty, unimportant local news and no worldly news.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and thank them for their hard work. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. Advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, merchandise, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

[ She rolls her eyes right BACK, but stays quiet, watching to see if anything happens. ]

[More waiting, more concentrating...finally she lets out a frustrated breath and her eyes open.]

Fuck. I think I need like...some kind of clue what is supposed to happen before I can actually make it happen.

Jeez.

[ They could have at least told Chloe how to use her powers, if they're that complicated to figure out. She's glad she never had this problem. ]

You'll probably just have to experiment for a while. I had to do that before I got mine totally figured out.

Or I have to have something really shitty happen. That's how my friend Max found hers.

[Such a fun thing to remember.]

I bet you just tripped and suddenly went to fast, right?

Yeah, maybe we should go shove you off a roof and see if you land in a pile of cigarettes. [ Ha ha, she thinks she's hilarious. ]

[She just laughed.]

OKay, that'd actually be pretty awesome. But horrible, I already smoke too much anyway.

[She sighed.]

Besides, that would be a...

[She had pointed at Breeze to make her point, but then froze because...she was holding a cigarette between her fingers.]

Hey, you did it!

[ She looks impressed. ]

Yeah but...

[She frowned at the cigarette, bringing it up to exmaine it more closely.]

How?

Dude, who cares how? You made it work. That's what matters.

[ She shrugs. From her experience, most people's power comes from something they need or want. ] You probably just wanted one, so you made it appear.

[Chloe groans.] No kid, I mean...how did I make it work?

[She's kind of turning the cigarette over in her hands, looking for anything that makes it different from the ones in her pack.]

Can you stop calling me kid? [ She says it without much hope that Chloe will actually stop, though. ]

Try doing it again. Think about how much you wish you had another cigarette and see if one shows up.

Can you stop being what, twelve?

[She grins, then focuses on her hands, her eyes narrowed. However, what appears in her hands might look similar to a cigarette, if cigarettes were hand-rolled with no labels.]

Oh shit.

[And that's just going to disappear into her pocket.]

Thirteen.

[ Brianna raises an eyebrow when she sees the joint, but she's not too surprised. Substance abuse sounds like a lot more than cigarettes, after all. ]

You could probably get any kind of drug you felt like.

Oh well, that's completely different.

[She isn't sure she likes the sound of that.]

Not sure I want to be randomly summoning up heroin or something.

You could sell it. Get a lot of money.

[ Not that Brianna really approves of that. She'd much rather see someone use their powers for good, or whatever. But if Chloe wants to sell drugs, it's not her business, and it's not like she's going to narc on her or anything. At least not without good reason. ]

Yeaaaaah pass.

Drug dealers have shitty lives kid, remember that. Unless you're really fuckin' good at it.

[She smirks.]

And I'm sure I wouldn't be.

Well, it's not like I'm saying I would. I know what happens to those people.

[ Okay, honestly, she's only really known one drug dealer, and he got eaten by coyotes while he was out on the road. But it's not like that's a great endorsement for the job. ]

[Chloe leans back on the bench now, tucking the newly-appeared cigarette behind her ear.]

Do you now. Man, so what's a kid your age getting shot for, anyway?

[ She sighs and sticks her hands in the pockets of her hoodie. Normally she'd be all for talking about every sordid detail, but the pain everything is still so fresh right now. ]

It's a long story.

[Hmm.]

You do something worth getting shot over, at least?

[ She thinks about putting the baby onto the rocks, watching as the millions of living green crystals swarmed around it, filling its mouth and nose and finally covering the tiny body completely. She did that. She did. Not on purpose, but does that matter? ]

Yeah. I guess.

[Chloe grinned.]

I know that feeling.

[She hops to her feet.]

So what's your plan, hm?

My plan?

[ Brianna: not the planning type. ]

Yeah. [Chloe made a gesture at...well, everything.]

Fancy new world, not shot anymore. [Hm.] They'll probably try to make you go to school.

[ She scowls at that. ] Well, I don't want to. [ Besides, they'd probably stick her back in sixth grade since she missed basically all of it, and who wants to be the 13 year old stuck with a bunch of 11 year olds? Nooo way. ] They'd have to catch me first.
