And I don't mean of the pokemon or impocreat variety.

It's way easier to start a fight you're ready for than to take a hit you didn't see coming, you know?

Also, though I do a wonderful job of pretending I'm omniscient, I regret to inform you that even I've been blindsided before.

It's more like... "any attention is good attention"?
[And acting 'cool' will get him more attention, right?]
Oh yeah? ...Did you get hurt?

[It's a question that M grappled with from personal experience. There's a reason he goes by M instead of a more normal name.
At the question, he nods.]
By my ex. Turned out not only were we in the same library in regards to our relationship, he was the guy I'd been trying to hunt down for months. Found this all out the second he slipped a kitchen knife into my insides.

[There is no winning, from his point of view. Not with anyone but the one person who knew him before he became too afraid to be himself.]
[Also, cringe. Extremely cringe. Blue isn't made for this kind of soldier-spy-hero stuff, okay?] G-gross. Um, sorry.... I guess.

[He's not sure why, but he feels like it's the right thing to say. Being a jerk is easy, being nice is hard.]
Too much? ...Sorry. I forget not everyone lives as colorful a life as me.
[And thank goodness for that. He loves it, but he would never wish it on anyone else.]
no subject
Colorful... I don’t if that’s the right word, man.

You say that, but I've met your Eevee, remember? I saw how much she cares about you. You gotta earn that level of affection.
I figured it was a nicer way of saying my life's got a lot of red in it.

But that doesn't mean I wasn't really bad to them... I trained them to be loyal to me. I don't know anymore whether I can just believe that their trust is something I ever earned.
I don't get that kind of life either, but I also don't know if I wanna ask.
no subject
[At the part about his own life, he just shakes his head slowly.]
If you ever wanna know, my life's an open book. I'll tell you whatever you want. If you don't... I won't be offended. I get it. I work hard so that people like you don't ever have to see what people like me do.
no subject
All of them.
no subject
You think that maybe they see something in you that you don't?
no subject
I guess that’s the usual explanation, yeah....
Frolicked if I know what. People don’t got the same reasons here to suck up to me that they do back home...
no subject
Let me guess, you're a real somebody back home.

I mean, me too. I'm a Kanto region Champion, a former Gym Leader, World Tournament Invitational Runner-up and a head of the Alola Battle Tree. Honestly speaking, I'm probably within the top 10, top 5 trainers in the world, all-time wins ranked.
[Just a humble brag.]
But what they're after, usually... [Grumble]
Gramps is... the foremost authority on Pokémon research. Responsible for a lot of the base-classification system used in modern Pokéology. He also invented the Pokédex- that's that device I use all the time, an electronic Pokémon encyclopedia and information recording device. In addition to that, he's the Kanto region's official starter Pokémon distributor. Any new trainer in the whole region who's going off on their journey, they have a choice of Pokémon from him. And those Pokémon, they're rare and endangered, hardly seen in the wild, so you can only get such Pokémon from a certified researcher like him.
Plus he's a famous veteran trainer in his own right, widely known for his talkshow and lecture appearances........
[Talk about a chip on the shoulder.]

I love him, but I... gave up a long time ago on expecting people to react any other way when they hear the name 'Oak'.
