TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[ But aren't humans monkeys?

As Toboe is petted, he sits down, tail wagging and tongue lolling out of his mouth happily. He has always loved petting which means he is as tame as he can get; Granny raised him well, after all.

But when Conner tells him to move, Toboe is still not sure if he should. The pup looks around, hoping to see a familiar face and feel a familiar scent, but he knows there is no one or he'd have spotted them by now.

Ears lower for a moment and eventually he turns to look at Wolf. Though he has had problems with other wolves who weren't from his pack, he knows they weren't evil or mean; wolves stick together, right? And since the other doesn't seem to be aggressive towards Toboe and his owner (?) doesn't smell "wrong", the red wolf gets up and walks after the pair.

He really wants to speak to Wolf, though. But if he speaks, Conner will listen Toboe, since (wolf's rain) wolves and humans speak the same language. And it's better not to try that out ]

[THAT IS A LIE. Besides, he was grown in a test tube.

Either this wolf has had a lot of human interaction or Toboe is smarter than he looks because most don't act this friendly. That just makes Conner want to protect him that much more because not everyone is as nice as he is towards wild animals.

Wolf slows his steps until he's walking next to Toboe and from this angle it would easy to see the places where the skin has been ripped until the muscle underneath shows. These are located where the legs meet the body. Despite that, it doesn't seem to cause Wolf any pain.

When they get outside, Wolf gives Conner a meaningful look. In response he nods.] I'm heading back in. Howl if you need me.

[With that he moves back into the crowd in search for people he might know. Wolf pads off in a direction where there don't seem to be many humans and after a few feet, he looks back to see if Toboe is coming.]

[ even if Conner doesn't know, Toboe is definitively both used to human interaction and much more intelligent than a regular wolf. Maybe one day he will let people know, but for now he will keep it as a secret. Pretending to be a dog never failed him, either; most wolves don0't act friendly towards humans and so people assume he is a dog, instead.

The pup follows closer to Conner than to Wolf, despise them being the same species (probably). Though Toboe hasn't seen many wolves during his lifetime and he is the type of animal to be incredibly friendly towards his elders (anyone above two), humans still hold a special importance in Toboe's mind. He does look at Wolf, though, curiously noticing his fur, his obvious size, as well as the "wounds".

Once Conner reaches outside, Toboe sits, watching the two for a moment as he tilts his head, and once when the human(?) leaves, Toboe turns to the older of the two wolves. ]

Ah, wait! [ finally he speaks! The puppy follows, tail wagging happily and a cheerful voice ] I'm toboe! I just arrived! [ obviously ] I have never met another wolf with an owner, before!

[Whether Toboe decides to announce himself to the world or not, Conner would still help him. He just has this thing about bonding and sort of 'adopting' unique creatures.

To Wolf, Toboe seems very young and a pup that needs to be looked after and since he was once the alpha of his pack will take up the role of protector. For a moment he doesn't stop until they're away from the groups of people everywhere. Then he does and turns to face the smaller wolf.

Unfortunately, Wolf does not speak the language that humans do so his communication is entirely animalistic.]

Wolf. He is not my owner.

Oh. So you are friends. [ certainly. They looked friendly enough.

But the pup is still excited nonetheless. ] Did they bring you here for some war, too? they told me that, but I have no idea what they were talking about. [ because he is a wolf and bringing in a wolf to be a hero and fight a war? What? ]

Are there more wolves, though? I was the only animal back there, but maybe I missed them? [ toboe also talks a lot with someone new. Excited puppy and all. ]
