TEST DRIVE MEME

Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!

Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!

01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.

02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.

03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!

04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

Obasan- [A hitch, suddenly stopping his steps upon seeing her because- That- that is definitely Lady Mankanshoku and he feels like he may have a heart attack seeing yet another one of them here. Honestly he should have expected it to some degree considering those he knows are infesting this place like some kind of bacteria. But he already has enough worry in his hea- er- what, in the world is she doing?]

[Moves over, leaning over here a little to look into the window and around, trying to pin point what exactly caught her eye before stepping back again and clearing his throat.]

Hm- ma'am. It's- a surprise to see you here. [Formal as always, but he's trying to stay away from the nerves clenching up about his gut.]

Did you arrive alone-?

--Oh! Hello! [She turns around, a pleasant smile on her face--

Ah, this young man seems to know her! She can't for the life of her remember him, though... Maybe one of Mako's fr-- Ha, no, that's silly, Mako has no friends. And he's far too old to know Mataro-- and too alive to know her husband. Well, no matter who he is, he certainly seems nice enough! And a little cute, in a bara kind of way She feels sorry that she doesn't remember, so she'll just pretend she does so he won't feel embarrassed!

Yes, I did. You wouldn't happen to know... [Perhaps...] Have you seen my family? The woman who drove me here wouldn't tell me anything!

[Whether she knows him or not he won't be able to say, there is barely a time where this woman ever seems discontented. So obviously she knows who he is. Why wouldn't she? He's been naked proclaiming to her that he'd save her daughter. How could you forget that, right?]

I only know the where abouts of your daughter, Mankanshoku Mako, ma'am, who is safe and adjusting well to this new situation.

[When doesn't she adjust well? It's wonder how everyone in that family just- adapts so well to everything. He can't help but be impressed, almost- jealous of it.]

[At that, she sighs. That's good, at least. But, it's also bad news, because that means that only two out of six family members are present and accounted for.

Of course she is; Mako is a very strong girl! It's just... Well, I'm worried. If you leave Mataro and my husband alone for too long... [people die, okay?] But, maybe Ryuuko-chan can keep them in line while I'm gone... After all, this is only for a little while! [RIGHT...]

[He can completely understand that sigh. Any mother would be concerned about her family when not around them. He believes of his own mother and feels- very similar to it.]

Not to worry, you family will resume as they were as if you never left, once you return. You are free to live without worry of that here, fortunately.

Oh- Matoi? She is also accounted for.

That's wonderful! They wouldn't survive very long without me... I'm sure they'll show up any day now! They're just a little slow. [UNDERSTATEMENT...]

I'm glad that Mako and Ryuuko-chan weren't alone, at least! [A beat. She glances up at him, and then returns to staring at the appliances.] Ryuuko-chan is a part of my family too, you know.

A little slow... [What a thing for a mother to say. But- she supposes she IS right, yes...]

Yes- I'm aware. You and your family seem to be very protective of her. [A nod, closing his eyes for a moment.]
