TEST DRIVE MEME
Considering apping into MASK OR MENACE? Want to dip your toes into the setting and get a feel of whether your character will fit into it? Or maybe you're just cruising and want to play around? Then you've come to the right place!
Pick any of the following scenarios below or feel free to make up your own, but don't be afraid to throw yourself at anyone's thread, either!
And remember to have fun!01. Your memory is hazy and you might feel increasingly frustrated or anxious, or maybe you're excited as soldiers march past, barely glimpsing you. One second you're somewhere underground, the next you're enveloped in blue light, and suddenly you find yourself directly under Flordia sun's bright and burning glare. A female soldier steps toward you with a wide smile on her face and directs you to a car, ready to debrief you. You realize you are not the only one, surrounded by equally confused or eager faces... and you're all sporting a digital tattoo on your wrist.
02. Welcome to Cape Canaveral, where the smell of the ocean is in the air and locals are more than pleased to see new imPorts roaming their streets. They wave, they cheer, they ask for pictures as politely as they can. The more inhuman you look, or if you're wearing a costume, the more likely locals are to approach. Hey, enjoy the moment! The popular malt shop is offering you a free drink if you need it.
03. The technology in this world is certainly something. The cars are clearly modeled after popular 50s cars, but they hover several feet above the ground as they drive down the street. There are digital jukeboxes in restaurants, motorcycles also hover through traffic, advertisements can be seen on a digital projector on the taller buildings. Even kids on skateboards appear to drift a safe ten feet off the ground while playing!
04. Wherever you are, you can hear the loud revving of an engine, distance at first before you finally see it: a hovercar bursting around the corner, going beyond the maximum speed limit and just barely making its sharp turn. It doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon, not with two police cars trailing it... and uh oh. Those skateboarding kids don't have much time to get out of the way as the car comes speeding down the road. You've been brought here for a reason Hero — so you better act fast.

[ The cat perched on his shoulders gets a few head-scritches, and Klarion gives Yang a polite nod before glancing down at his outfit. He tugs at the heavy fabric once or twice, looking somewhat irritated.]
Normally it wouldn't be an issue. Whenever Teekl and I visit a location where the climate disagrees with us, we simply teleport away, but since we can't seem to leave...

[If she finds the way he talks about his cat a little strange, she doesn't mention it, instead nodding and reaching for his wrist as if she means to haul him bodily along with her toward the shop she's been eyeing for the past while.]
Well, I can't say I'm surprised. The whole 'leaving' thing wasn't really covered by those people who helped me out when I first got here. But hey, if nothing else, I can at least help with the temperature for a little while.
Plus, everything's better with ice cream.

[If she's disappointed by not being able to haul him along, the fact that she gets to introduce him to one of the greatest things ever perks her right back up, her smile going from bright to megawatt in the span of a second.]
Oh man, you'll love it! It's pretty much just sweet cream that tastes like different sweets, and it's, you know, frozen of course...
[She all but bounces up the street, opening the door of the appropriate shop with a flourish and motioning him in.]

Really? That's very kind, it seems I owe you thanks once again! Where I'm from, we don't have sweets. The surface world is proving to be full of wonderful delicacies, so far!

[She's glad to see him smile, and she follows him into the shop, rummaging in one of her pouches for some of the money she's earned so far, tilting her head at him curiously.]
When you say 'surface world'... did you live underground before?

[ Thanks to the shop's air conditioning, Klarion doesn't look quite so much like he's about to melt into a puddle. He's cheered up quite a bit now that he's managed to cool off! ]
What sorts of flavours is this iced cream available in?

[Yang makes her way to the counter, motioning down at the vats of ice cream with a sweeping gesture, her movements all but announcing 'behold!'.]
They have lots here- there's this one they have that tastes like cake frosting which is, you know, amazing. But they have a lot of flavors, and to top it off they have like... brownie pieces and stuff you can have mixed into whatever you get.
[A dreamy sigh, and yeah. Yeah, she's definitely getting some for herself. But first-
She grins at him again and tilts her head at the display.]
