01.The city of Heropa, Florida is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place, where locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city.

Unfortunately, tragedy has struck today. It seems like the entire Heropa PD is parked out of a local, popular grocery chain. A huge crowd is amassed in the parking lot despite the best efforts of officers to get them to leave. They whisper about excitement and shame, and you don't have to ask if you just listen in a bit...

"What do you think he'll do to the employees? He sounded so serious..." "He really wants that pussy, huh?" "If I left my man for cheating on me, I'd take the damn cat, too!" "How does he think taking her and her coworkers hostage is gonna make her change her mind about him being a bad boyfriend?" "My wife is pregnant, please - if I don't get her favorite deli sub I might as well not go home!"

Domestic disputes! Tragic. The police aren't too sure how to handle this hostage situation, claiming the man only has a box cutter and isn't actually waving it around at the moment, but...are you an imPort? They'd really appreciate the help, okay. Get in there and counsel the unhappy couple. Or not!


02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, with large numbers of citizens waiting to be awed by your very presence. Look at you! Organic wonder! Those words have meaning here. Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices.

The imPort craze remains high here, and you may find yourself cornered by overzealous imPort fans, media wannabes and opportunists alike, shoving cameras in your face. If you let yourself get cornered, beware! Anything from personal questions about romantic chances to bedroom habits to dietary queries might be come up!


03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania has had its ups and downs since imPorts started reappearing. Several imPort heroes have put focused efforts into cleaning up the streets of this somewhat infamous city, while others have swooped in to help the criminal industry thrive. More so here than the streets of any other imPort city, the battle between good and evil looks more like a war of escalation than a heroic tale.

As your character walks down the street, they may find themselves accosted by a large man in his mid-20s, dressed in an ill-fitting spandex suit of orange and yellow. As he thrusts his finger into an imPort's face, the spandex rides up, turning into more of a crop-top, which he duly tugs back down before shouting, "You're not the special ones anymore, imPorts! Feel the wrath of Heartburn!"

Stupid name aside, he does seem to have superpowers as he breathes a large plume of fire. His aim still isn't great, though; it could hit the imPort in question, or be sent in the direction of a nearby local, or even a particularly flammable building. What will you do, Hero?


04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities; loud, busy and there's always some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. You may find yourself in the midst of a few closed-off streets for some occasion or another - whether it be a food cart festival, no-car day, or something else! - and surrounded by the hum of people, the waft of food being served on the street, and plenty of attention

Look there -- someone's demoing a VR roller coaster! Won't you give it a shot?

Outside the barricades closing off those streets, you're still likely to attract attention. Natives may gather around new arrivals and ask both personal and broad questions about life as an imPort, what they are looking forward to, if they're looking for a sidekick. A few restaurants will offer a free appetizer (with the purchase of an entree), and you may be offered product samples from local businesses! Just be sure to speak to an agent before signing any endorsement deals.


05. Jeopardy, Nevada by all rights shouldn't exist. A glowing neon city smack in the middle of the desert, the only reason it's still here is that the central nuclear power plant has tapped half a mile down into a subterranean lake for its water supply. So though the desert around it may be barren, the occupants of this small city are happily self sufficient. Those weird figures you see out of the corner of your eyes? Don't worry too much. Probably just weird radiation after effects. Jeopardy has a lot of those.

Despite the weird constant hum and the creepy cultish bingo, Jeopardy is usually a pretty calm place. A safe place. But not today. Today, someone has released a couple hundred tiny praying-mantis-like robots into the city, and the place is in chaos. Shops are closed up early because though these little destructive creatures don't have bullets, they do have some weird arm appendages that like to just crunch everything in existence. Like a locus swarm of cockatoos, anything made of wood or plastic is being crunched up and left for scrap. But at less than six inches high apiece, rounding them up is proving extremely difficult. Luckily, the mayor in her wisdom is giving out titanium nets to any imPort who wants to help round up the trouble makers. And, in the spirit of the city, she's offering the imPort that catches the most robots a free meal for two in the swanky Radiation Galley - Jeopardy's top tier, five star restaurant.

[hmmmmmmmmnnnnnot crazy about the imPort-craze, Xellos decides. too much mirth by way of fascination and speculation; it kinda sours his stomach. he prefers to be a bit more low-key, y'know? and not at all a source of delight. yuck.

before this gaggle of oglers can become a proper swarm, Xellos vanishes, teleporting just a few yards away and out of reach. there are many perks to being a monster, having an easy-to-move puppet of a flesh body being one of them!

of course, this prompt would be really lacking if he didn't teleport somewhere interesting, right? like right in the middle of city traffic! a newcomer classic.

Xellos turns and curiously beholds the semi desperately trying to swerve safely without running others off the road while furiously honking.]

[every big festival that draws a crowd is going to cause problems no matter how well put-together it is. why? because people. people cause problems no matter how well put-together they are. or aren't! funny things, humans. easy to get them stirred up!

Xellos doesn't even have to try. he's enjoying a chocolate-vanilla swirl ice cream cone while perched on the edge of a fountain, listening to a very heated screaming match of an argument between some jilted lovers or something? who knows. they're young and stupid and hormonal -- and angry! it's kind of great.

ooh. one's got a knife? this could get interesting.]

My, my! Such craftsmanship...!

[before any damage could be dealt to his staff, Xellos has plucked one of the doll-sized mechs up and held it to his face, its wings pinched between his fingers. they look more durable and destructive than the real creatures, don't they? humans in this plane are very inventive; the Mazoku ought to invest in interdimensional R&D!

of course, this manufactured plague doesn't really bother him. quite the contrary: the stress and anxiety this has induced in the local population is pretty filling! Xellos is content to languish in this for a while, honestly, and that's why he flicks the machine over his shoulder -- sorry, poor sap who was behind him! he wasn't looking.]

[It's a rare day off, and Darin's actually in De Chima to do some shopping. He didn't mind the city so much, after all, all of the hustle and bustle of this city was a welcome change from some of the quieter Porter cities.]

[But some of that noise seems out of place. Especially that honking of a truck swerving wildly to avoid someone standing gormlessly in the road.]

[Wait, what?!]

[Without thinking, Darin leaps into traffic. He's got a few seconds before that truck either hits that stranger or swerves into cars to avoid the stranger. But grabbing the stranger out of the way means they'd be diving into the opposing lane of traffic.]

[Looks like he's taking the hard way. Why was it always the hard way?]

[Darin dives between the truck and the stranger, takes a step or two forward, plants his feet into the street to brace himself and closes his eyes, arms outstretched.]

[This was gonna suck.]

[The truck hits hard and Darin skids back a few feet, boots tearing up the pavement as he's pushed, before managing to halt the truck with just an inch or two between him and this newcomer.]

[He's just going to lean against the grill of this truck while his ribs knit.]

...M'gonna petition to start including traffic laws in those dumb brochures they give us when they port us in...

The Outsider | Dishonored

[ Maurtia Falls reminds the Outsider of certain cities he's watched, for better but mostly for worse; he's not judgemental, though. At the moment, the concept of walking around in a real place that exists in time and space is still the most exciting thing to happen to him in centuries, so he finds the city amusing rather than alarming.

Even when he's threatened by some strangely costumed man calling himself Heartburn. How... unique. It's certainly different, he'll give him that. But when the plume of fire is sent toward the Outsider, the black-eyed youth (appearance-wise, at least) dissolves into glittering black smoke and reappears at Heartburn's side, to the would-be villain's surprise.

The Outsider is unharmed; the newstand he was standing in front of, however, is not. ]

Such a unique ability, and yet all you do with it is burn up gossip columns. This isn't what your mother wanted for you, you know. But maybe your mother didn't know what you wanted.

[ Evidently, the Outsider is not going to attempt to stop the newstand from going up in flames, or stop Heartburn. Perhaps intervention is needed? ]

[ The young man with the black eyes and dark clothes crouches and watches a small mantis robot make quick work of a wooden cafe chair, as the customers on the patio flee as the things wreck the place.

The Outsider tilts his head. ]

I wonder, is this what it was made to do? Or was an error made in its creation, unseen, waiting for the right moment to unleash such rampant destruction? Was there a grander plan in mind?

I caused quite a shock to a young woman earlier today when she discovered I had never seen a film before. The appeal may be lost on me, but I am willing to try anything now that I can. The question that naturally follows is -- what should be my first?

[ Hanna had heard that the store sold good pancakes, and as such she's arrived to the scene. From the looks of it, things seem to be overly blown out of proportion. She won't say that the man is in the right... but she can understand wanting to keep his cat.

Somehow, she gets pushed to the front. Does she stick out so badly? Maybe. She's a tiny, pale, skinny girl with hair falling wildly everywhere, but anyone that stares into those cool blue eyes will immediately look away.

Yes, she's an ImPort, whatever that means. Can she help? Maybe?

Before Hanna can object she's entering the store. The man turns around from the scared crowd inside of the store, paper cutter lifted. Hanna would've shot him on the knee the minute this started. ]

Hi.

[ Her tiny voice is enough in the tense, silent establishment. She inches to a side, eyeing the woman that's most certainly the ex. ]

Just give him the damn cat.

[ She doesn't want to bully some poor man in front of everyone, but she will. ]


Maurtia Falls

[ Hanna punches the Heartburn squarely in the face. There isn't any hesitation on her part; the moment the fire is out she bolts forward and plants her fist in the middle of the dude's nose, the sound of it breaking in several pieces loud enough to make some of the people surrounding them feel unease.

It also propels the oddly dressed man several feet down, falling flat on his back and completely out cold on the spot.

Unfortunately for Hanna, this only makes the people accosting her all the more cheerful and insistent on getting her to do something else. Like talk. ]

Ugh.

[ Goofy villains she can deal with, but regular human interaction? That's a work in progress ]

[Carter's got two things working against him here. For one, he's from a 'simpler time' and women in combat are a rarity. For two, he's a bit dense and easily confused - probably more childlike than Hanna is.]

[Welp, small girl-type human is going inside. Carter follows, ostensibly to protect her, though he really has no idea what to do once he gets there. He doesn't have a gun and his power set is a lot more offensive than protective. So, he stands behind her, awkward and emphatic, and tries to look fierce.]

Crowds, Desmond's used to them. He's worked a few bars in the nine years of him actually living life, he was around them almost every night. Weekends were, of course, the worst. Everyone would be there. But these crowds? They're a lot more dangerous—they chase him. The last time he was chased it was by Abstergo, Templars, people wanting his blood, his DNA.

The best and only way to outrun these hollering folks is by ducking into an alley and hopping up onto the closed lids of a dumpster, jump for the wall of the apartment building. "Shit—" It's a near miss, the grab for the raised fire escape ladder, and then he's scrambling up it.

They're persistent; they follow, not many but enough. They're calling after him and Desmond makes the mistake of throwing a downward glance. "What the fuck." This is insane, did he seriously die to save the world to come here and be chased by a mob screaming about how they want his babies and want his picture? Hell to the no.

Reaching the roof it's easy to sprint across it, vault over a few low air conditioning units, not hesitating to assess the distance between the neighboring building before making the jump. Again, he's barely making it, hands gripping the edge of the roof, sneakers scratching against the brick to get some kind of footing.

"Oh, come on!"

DE CHIMA, VIRGINIA

Touma carefully peered over the edge of the roof as he calculated the distance to the other building across from him. The size of the gap made his heart tremble and his stomach lurch in anticipation at what he was about to. This wasn't the first time he had been forced to travel by rooftop, but that didn't make the act any less terrifying. A single mistake could lead to him plummeting to his death.

Taking in a couple of deep breathes, he slowly backed away from the edge as he prepared to make the jump. It was in his best interest to calm himself down and focus on the task at hand. Unfortunately, his concentration was immediately shattered when the door leading inside the building was slammed open and a gaggle of shrieking people began to pour out onto the roof like a tidal wave.

"There he is!"

"Please wait! I need you to autograph my arm!"

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

"Let me touch you!"

"God dammit! Can't you guys leave me alone!?" Touma shouted back at the incoming crowd in frustration.

He no longer had the luxury of taking his time. Swallowing his fear, the teenager sprinted across the rooftop towards the very edge of the building and kicked off the concrete roof. The crowd behind him all gasped in unison as he soared across the gap before exploding into cheers once he landed safely on the other building. Touma couldn't care less about the praise they gave his 'display of heroic ability'. He was simply happy that he made it to the other side without becoming a stain on the ground.

Sadly, whatever relief he felt from escaping was quickly cut short by the sight of someone leaping towards the roof he was occupying. His heart skipped a beat as he watched the man not quite make the jump and barely manage to save himself by grabbing hold of the edge. Without hesitation, Touma rushed to the man's aid and reached out to grab his hand in order to pull him up to safety.

"Come on, I got you! Just hang on!"

Rose Tico | Star Wars

[Through her work with the Resistance, she's seen a lot of different planets and places at this point. Still, there's something about a beach that's so inviting to her. Refnu had reminded her so much of her home world, but this is the exact opposite.

Rose takes off her boots, tucking them under her arm as she takes a nice walk on the sand, and then along the shore.]

[Who's probably the worst person at dealing with crowds and fans? This girl! She's not even- well, at first she thinks she's not a hero like Finn or Rey or Poe, but she sort of did do some stuff and the entire Resistance is full of heroes, just not big name heroes and she's definitely not one of those! Except now she's being treated like one and she has no idea what to do. Especially because these people don't technically know her at all.

Most of the questions are about relationships: "How do you feel about Finn's love pentagon?" and so on.]

I- um... I didn't? You know, you know Finn? Finn's here? Why does he...

[But she can barely say anything before they start asking MORE questions. She is so very stressed out.]

[Rose is outside one of the closed shops, working on a way to track the droids or better capture them than using a simple net. She tinkers with her phone, with the net, with whatever materials she can gather from stores that are open, and gets... a little lost in it all. Until she feels something move on her head and turns to see her reflection in the store's window.]

Oh.

[Yep, there's a little praying-mantis on her head. She lifts a finger towards it, and it climbs down onto her hand.]

She’s at the top of it, [ Poe’s voice interjects from behind her as a hand comes to rest on her shoulder. Someone in the crowd actually yelps with surprise, but Poe has a smile plastered on his face that makes it clear that he is really, really used to this. ]

And, speaking of which, we’re off to find the man himself. Excuse us!

[ And he’ll just tug a little to try to get her to come with him, while flashing her a much more honest smile than the one he’d been wearing before. ]

Hal "Otacon" Emmerich - Metal Gear Solid

[ Hal is attempting to mind his own business - it's what Snake and their friends would do, right? Don't compromise yourself when the gravity of a situation is unknown.

Seeing as he's just been teleported into a new dimension, he's trying to do the scientific thing of staying calm and observing. Just in case it's an advanced simulation, he tries to be hands-off.

It works until he happens upon the rollercoaster VR, which the product spokesman is jovially rigging to Hal's head as we speak. ]

W- well, there's no harm in giving it a shot, I guess. Just a few minutes - uh - wow, is this thing realistic. I, uh, I think I'm getting a little vertigo...?

[ Jeopardy ]

[ After managing to catch one of the robo-bugs (which may have involved one flying at his face while he let out a girlish shriek), Hal scurries into a hotel lobby and claims a computer in one of the meeting rooms. In front of him, the small creature is wired to his new government-issued phone, scanning for data. In the meantime, he's putting a flurry of code into the PC, trying to get past the firewall on the nuclear plant.


While this all makes sense to him, to anyone else he looks like a grown man talking to himself over a computer while experimenting on a tiny robot. He pushes his glasses back up on his face with intent. ]

Hm. If this works, I can trace the source of the bugs, tap into the local power supply and cause a mass-shutoff.

[ It doesn't occur to him that his usual gang of people he needs to explain tech to aren't around to talk to. Unless you count the confused staff and guests watching him - from a distance. ]

[ Network - Video ]

[ Hal is every bit what you would imagine when hearing the phrase "mild mannered". He wears plain clothes in neutral colours, his hair is neither long nor short, and a pair of glasses sit on a face that hasn't seen much light other than a computer screen for a very, very long time. He tries to keep himself composed, in spite of the nervous look in his eye. ]

So, er, newcomer here. I guess they call us "imPorts"? Has anyone considered virtual reality, mass hallucinogens, or just... a giant set for psychological study purposes? Or a huge prank? I can't really rule anything out, with what I've seen.

[ A woman approaches, wisps of scarlet tendrils dancing around her fingertips. When she speaks, it's with a Southeastern European accent. ]

Or just blow it up with magic.

[ The amount of effort it took to look graceful while carrying a net (made of titanium, no less!) was more than she had hoped. The amount of effort it took to look graceful while swinging so same net around to snatch up tiny robot praying mantises was what one might call a 'diminishing return'. That said, it wasn't nearly so bad as the time when a scientist unleashed mutant cakes on her and her team. There are times she can swear she smells buttercream frosting still embedded in her mask.

The young girl flowed down the street, scooping up the mantises where she could, but so far she only managed to capture three.

She stopped (taking third position by default) and scanned the area. The way seemed clear of the pinchy little pests at first glance, but right at the edge of her vision she noticed an odd shine.

A mantis was behind another figure, its greedy little appendages about ready to clamp down on the stranger's ankle. ]

Behind you!

[ She could only hope they heard her as she dashed in that direction. ]

[Carter half-turns and looks down. A grin flashes across his face.]

Gotcha! [Rather than dodging he dives, tackling the tiny mantis and engulfing it with his entire body. It's like a man jumping on a grenade - except this man is the grenade.

There's a muffled 'BOOM' and flash of light from Carter's body, then the smell of gunpowder on the breeze. Carter slowly uncurls, smoke streaming from him, to look over the remains of his handiwork.]

[Yeah, romance is confusing. Carter consoles himself that at least he's never taken anyone hostage over it. (That is, he's taken hostages before, but he's never specifically taken them for romantic purposes.) He's standing in the crowd outside, trying to get a good look over people's heads, frowning in hard thoughtfulness before he leans over to the person who happens to be standing near him.] Should we do something? I was never good at talking with girls, I'd probably give him the wrong advice and get him mad.

[Most people are getting out of the way of 'Heartburn' and his massive gout of flame. Carter? Carter leaps right in front of it with the enthusiasm of a midsummer child leaping into a sprinkler.

Sure enough, the fire engulfs him, leaving him a dark silhouette for a few moments before Heartburn has to stop to catch his breath. Tendrils of smoke waste from the edges of Carter's hat and the knapsack over his back, but the man himself is untouched. Giddy, even.]

Hey, that's pretty neat! Can you do that again, a little hotter? Or is that as hot as it goes? [He gestures to himself in a 'hit me again' signal. In his enthusiasm Carter hasn't noticed that 1. This is a bad guy and 2. Collateral damage hasn't stopped being a thing.] Come on, you show me and then I can show you mine.

Jeopardy

So when they said catch, does that mean intact? [At this rate, Carter's going to cause more damage than the critters. He started off by trying to blow them up by hand, then by setting a few traps baited with plastic garbage. It's been successful at taking them down but for some reason residents keep telling him to do his hunting somewhere else. He's hurrying down the street, stuffing scorched remains of one robot into his bag while holding the end of his net between his teeth like a tardy student with toast.]

Heartburn is clearly confused, and frustrated, but just as he opens his mouth again —either to talk or to resume spitting fire—the deafening crack of a gunshot stops him sort and all he manages to do is gurgle before pitching forward, blood splattering out over the pavement from where he's been shot in one leg.

Rene strides forward wearing plainclothes and pointing a handgun down at their mutual friend, kicking the unfortunate fellow forward onto his face once he's close enough. Heartburn doesn't seem to be moving much though: apparently getting kneecapped was enough to put him out like a light. What a weenie.

"Damn, Hoss!" Rene rounds on Andrew, gesturing emphatically. "Are you crazy?"

Sabé | Star Wars

[ Sabé was never one for the spotlight. Spywork and slipping into the background suited her just fine and she didn't care to change that anytime soon. Unfortunately, this place had other plans for her and though she did her best to disguise her looks (sunglasses and the simplest outfit she could find), she had no luck.

Any pictures the locals managed to snap of her caught her scowling or with her hand in front of her face.

"Who are you seeing?" "What's your favorite quality in a man?" "What about women?"

She knew there was a reason she opted for sunglasses, as they concealed her rolling her eyes. ]

I hardly see what any of that's important.

[ There was something about the buzz of a city- the way the beat of everything pulsed through her. She preferred it over the vast emptiness of places like Tatooine. Sabé hated the thoughts that crept into her mind, however, when faced with something like this.

The festivals remind her of home and everything she's lost.

She lingers off to the side, inspecting the food carts lined up and the excitement of the people that surround them. Eventually she'll need to decide on something to eat, she can feel a low rumble in her stomach that's bound to only grow. She can feel a presence next to her without having to look over- so she speaks quietly while still looking ahead. ]

There's too many options, I don't know how anyone makes up their mind.

[ Akobi had come to inspect the food cart selling shoestring truffle fries with a variety of dipping sauces, having found that potato dishes tend to be a good choice in terms of taste and palatability. He almost doesn't notice the young woman next to him until she speaks.

He laughs, deep and easy, his voice casual, carrying a slight Core Worlds accent, if she might notice that sort of thing. ]

Just wait until you try pizza. It seems the dish can be topped with anything under the sun!

Chancellor Palpatine | Star Wars

[The mob seems less inclined to bother him which he was grateful for. He still wasn't sure what to make of this world but he felt familiar presences in the Force instantly. And some which were less than familiar. His own presence in the Force would be kept carefully hidden, as always. The last thing he needed was to advertise

He begged off questions the best he was able to with the practiced smile and demeanor of a kindly politician, eventually excusing himself the best he was able to. The city was not as complicated as Coruscant but it was still strange and he would still have to find his footing.

But for now, he was sure that things would get very interesting in due time.]

Amid the crowd of onlookers is an almost eerily pleasant looking woman. She's dressed in a big, bright dress suitable for a mid-century house wife. Her hair is coifed up in perfectly understated victory curls, and her makeup is flawless. In fact, a lot about her looks flawless. She has a bit of a Stepford Wife look to her, but she's making it work.

She looks on with mild concern, but avid curiosity. Still, when someone spots her imPort tattoo and suggests she intervene, she politely demurs. ]

Oh me? Go in there? Why, I couldn't possibly. I'm really not made for that sort of thing.

[ The Stepford Wife did indeed get caught up in the imPort Mania, and is currently letting a gaggle of "fans" block the sidewalk as she answers their questions. And she... keeps answering their questions with an unwavering placidity and picture-perfect smile. It looks like she's been at this a while and so far shows no indication of stopping. ]

[She might notice one robot lose it's head by a tentacle ripping it off. She might also notice, in a flash, Ben's body being thrown out of the building and tumbling into the street. He came crashing to a halt, the tentacles disappearing back into his belly.]

[He held his head a moment, pushing himself up to stand, and--Came to a hard stop, mouth dropping as he saw her.] Mom?! [He called out, staring at her. Completely missing that someone else just dove in to try and take care of the next robot.]

Oh my god, Mom, you can't be here right now! [he gasped, moving to her, eyes looking her over in surprise. Was it really her? Was she here?]

Over the past couple of years, Rene has admittedly dealt with more than his fair share of The Spandex Crowd, but this one probably takes the cake. A cake, at least, because wow. He's still halfway through a scoff at the name when he has to swallow it suddenly, and launch himself bodily at the other imPort that Heartburn (come on, Heartburn?) had been targeting.

He sends them both crashing into a cramped little alleyway between the buildings, and then wastes no time scrambling upright and pressing his back to the brick wall in a way that screams military training. He tugs a handgun out of the concealed holster at the small of his back, swinging it out towards the mouth of the alley and watching there for movement.

He spares a split second to glance sideways when a moment passes and they're not actively being barbecued, checking to see if his fellow import isn't like, unconscious or anything from their unceremonious and rather rough dive into the alleyway. "This really fucking happening right now?"

And he thought Star City was a trip sometimes.

v. JEOPARDY

Free food? Oh hell yeah.

Rene is taking this challenge very seriously, which of course means that he is cheating.

So, sorry to whoever was about to net one of the little cornered robots, because suddenly there is a tiny dog making off with it clamped in its jaws. Without so much as a yip of thanks, the dog promptly darts back through legs and around corners to disappear out the nearest doorway.

If followed, there is no dog anywhere in sight, but there is a guy stuffing a suspiciously familiar looking robot into his already teeming titanium net.

But that clears up, and he's already considering moving on because, well, the police have this, right? Right.

He's halfway into turning on heel when he finds himself addressed. And Shaun is quick to hold his hands up.]

Uh... no, Nope. Bad idea. I'm better with people who're already dead. Those folks are still alive, right? Probably better to keep them that way.

[And now he's getting very strange and verging-on-concerned looks from the local authorities. Well. Shit. Maybe it's time to go. Help?]

[You know what? The whole situation of being transplanted from his (admittedly exceptionally fucked up) world and dropped in another (differently fucked up) world has been frustrating enough, that when Shaun finds himself with Captain Crop Top here decides to pick a fight... he's more than all for it.

There's a faintly dangerous light in his eyes even as he grins. Anyone who knows him well enough, especially anyone who's known him in the aftermath of George's death (still so raw, still so recent), would probably recognize the siren-loud warning signs for what they are. He's a tinderbox that's been waiting for a spark as an excuse to explode. Now he's got one.] Heartburn. You're serious. Everything you could've chosen and you went with the indigestion based name. Is your weakness Tums?

[Then there's fire, and Shaun does manage to dodge the poorly-aimed blast anyway, glancing over his shoulder at a now smoldering awning above a store. Great. Property damage. Okay. Maybe he could use one of the new powers he's been given, but to hell with that. Instead Shaun falls into tried and true methods and without hesitation punches the asshole in the jaw.

Huh. He feels better already.] There are other people around, asshole. Watch it. [He swings again. He could probably use some help. Or someone to stop him.]

[It's too strange. The crowds of people wandering around without a care in the world, the streets blocked off in a way that won't keep anything out that really wants to get in, but sure as fuck will make a quick evacuation that much more difficult. It's a death trap. A festive kill shoot. And yeah, sure, the food from the food trucks smells delicious, fine. But that doesn't make this any less unsettling.

So this is what a world that never had the Rising would look like, huh? He wonders if he ought to appreciate it more.

He's been running on autopilot since he got here. This world. His world. Doesn't matter anyway. Neither world has George in it, so what does it matter? Back home at least he has the elusive specter of revenge to chase. Here? Nothing.

So far Shaun has kept it together on the surface. Game face on. Cameras are rolling. Sure he's gotten into a fight or two, but only after he's at least been given an excuse for it. Now though, when everyone seems to happy and without a care in the world, he just feels lost. This all feels wrong. Fight or flight kicks in, and with nothing to fight, Shaun runs. He dodges through the crowd at full speed, running straight for one of the barriers blocking off the street. Shaun leaps it like a hurdle, clears it with room to spare, and keeps running.

He's going fast enough that he's pretty likely to take a corner too fast and barrel straight into you. Sorry about that.

Extra sorry that his gun is in his hand immediately and leveled even before he rolls back to his feet. Old habits, you know?] ...you okay?

Then she hears a voice that's as familiar to her as her own. Then she sees who exactly it is who is fighting Heartburn. Then she sees Heartburn about to attack again from much, much closer, and she doesn't hesitate. In a heartbeat, she's dropped her recorder and is in front of Shaun, her arms around him shielding him from the flames.]

Upon being flocked by a few too many, too eager people trying to barrel questions down at him as fast as bullets, Diego can only blink in surprise. What is wrong with these people?

"What's your favorite pizza topping?"

"What are your guilty pleasures?"

"Are you a generous lover?"

Question after invasive question and he can't seem to escape them. Worse than the battery of interviews are the people who keep snapping pictures of him, the repetitive flashes that keep going off in seemingly every direction creating colorful spots behind his eyes.

"Jesus, back off, would you?!" His fingers twitch at his side, itching to grab one of the multitude of knives tucked away on his person. But knifing some guy for asking a question might not be the best way to make impressions, here.



05. Jeopardy
{It's the thrill of the fight that keeps me up at night

This? This is easy. Like slipping on a favorite, old-worn glove. This is what he was groomed to do, and to deal with, and to handle from as early as he could remember. Diego thrives in chaos, in the need to take action and to fight like nowhere else in the world. He's armed to the teeth with more blades than any one person should really be able to carry on them, and every single one he throws lands in its intended target, even when the strange little robots try to dodge or do something to make him miss his mark.

There's an almost sickening metallic thwack! when the next one hits, dead in the one spot he's figured out-- after some trial and error in a handful of other throws before it-- that seems to be the thing's weakest point. The creature that was previously causing havock in the streets gives a distorted whir-rrr as it powered down.

There may be some unnecessary acrobatics done to collect the robot in the net he'd been given earlier. It's looking pretty dang full at this point. Diego's been having fun with his target practice-- not that he needs it, but hey. He has to get his kicks where he can, and free food isn't something he'll ever have a mind to turn down.

Allison has perfected several ways of handling crowds over the last decade, from the adoring focused to the complete avoidance. She'd been in the middle of doing quite a good job of the second before that voice suddenly snapped out. Sharp as it was direct; familiar as a heart attack. She'd stopped midstep and even from here, even through dark glasses and a multitude of people, it could only be Diego.

Razor sharp rejection shouted with belligerence. Posture that screamed a checked warning the words didn't.

While it's tempting just to slap him with a message when she can't call out his name, and clapping or snapping would be lost in this din -- Diego wasn't the best with sudden shocks to his system, and he had to be new, all of it had to be, suddenly new, and he was already brittle, brandished edges even without that. Which meant Allison had to find a way to slide herself through this crowd instead. To keep pushing forward, even when a shriek of surprise goes up from one person catching her face, but she keeps moving.

(That too is an old hat, the length of her life and unpaused.)

She doesn't let word or whisper, body or camera, stop her until she can finally reach one side of her brother, and with all the readiness to evade back at even the potential for possible overreaction she laid a hand on his arm giving it a small shake.

[ She navigates the gathering crowd of cameras easily, and it's stupid, really -- it's going to get annoying, eventually -- but she might as well have fun with it, right? Benefit of being a good liar and a dramatic little shithead who loves to have her ego stroked now and again. She has the charm and and grace of an Old Hollywood starlet, charisma dripping from her. They start in with the invasive questions, she answers right back with the first stupid thing that pops in her head.

Selina's good at making an escape, too, and she's sure that'll come in handy at some point. Are you struggling, there, buddy? This whole paparazzi thing not your jam? If she's noticed you, she's probably laughing, but she's not completely heartless -- she'll sweep in and dazzle the crowd. Distract 'em long enough for you both to make an exit. ]

[It doesn't take long wandering around the city for her to get accosted. She tries to humor the reporters at first, answering questions that become increasingly less benign. She even tolerates the first few into her romantic history, but then someone asks something about her ex back home and she's had enough. She grabs one of the fancy gadgets out of an interviewer's hand and sucks the battery dry, casting a cloaking spell and taking off.

After a few minutes of running, she checks behind her to make sure she's lost them. It looks like she has, but it also prevents her from looking where she's going and noticing she's on a direct collision course with another imPort. Who may have a hard time dodging her, seeing as she's still invisible]

[Josie's usually not one to wear a scowl on her face for very long, but this whole situation is pissing her off. From the fact that this is happening to how useless the cops seem to be, right down to the fact that there is an easy, impulsive and irritatingly heroic answer to this problem. Which she can do. It's just gonna take her a minute to siphon the power for a sleep spell. But that's a minute more than Hope Mikaelson would have needed, and she can't help but stew a bit on that.

But right now, she needs power. She shakes the unhappy look off her face and scans the crowd for a fellow imPort. Her powers are little different here: she can draw from a much broader array of sources. But it takes its toll on regular humans, and she needs someone who can take that energy loss in stride. And so it is she approaches another imPort.] Hey, can I get your help for a second?

At the last second, he heard the sound of a footfall, but there was no one nearby that he could see. As he realized they must be invisible, he tried to dodge, and stepped right into the way of the oncoming person, sending them both toward the ground.

With a practiced move, his arms went around the other person and rolled them so he would take the brunt of the fall, coming to a stop and gently letting go of... someone? ]

Er, hello? Are you... whoever, okay? [ His voice is gentle, if rough from the shock of the fall. ]

01. Heropa, Florida

Oliver is not used to this new world, and this new popularity yet, nor to everyone knowing what he looks like and who he really is. It's enough to give a man a complex, it really is. He is trying to still act as normal, though, and he feels like this is what he is meant to do, no matter what world he is in. Since everyone knew who he was, and the government is okay with him doing his mission, he registered, and set out to explore.

Hearing about the situation at the grocery, he arrived in a cab and in full costume, and asked the cops for a status report. Once he had heard their words, he sighed and headed inside. He would do his best to deescalate this, and quick. And then maybe someone qualified to counsel this poor guy could actually help him.

Entering through the back door, he slipped through the store, carefully, quietly, and moved until he had a view of the very much not very threatening hostage taker. Oliver took one look, and sighed. "Really? Really, universe? Fine."

A turn, a sight, and a release and the arrow flew true, one of his rare trick arrows, which released the line which wrapped around the man, pinning his arms to his sides. Coming out of his concealment, Oliver spoke to the man and the woman, and led them both outside, handing them off to the cops. And people applauded.

This would take a lot of getting used to. An arrow went up, and he soared away from the crowd, seriously weirded out. A few blocks later, dressed in his normal clothes, he walked down a street with his case over one shoulder.


02. De Chima, Virginia
This seemed like the kind of city where he could set up shop. Maybe even do some good. If people would stop shoving microphones in his face. Still, he was trying, very hard, not to snap, or yell, or growl at anyone. Trying. Hard.

He had been recognized while he was getting some ice cream, and he really was starting to lose his patience as the questions went on and on, and on.

Iris can't help sighing as she passes them, shaking her head and wondering just what unlucky sucker got roped into that web this week and - and he has a really familiar beard. Scratch that, he's got a face she would know anywhere.

She steps backwards and calls, right towards the reporters, "Hey! Is that Riptide? Fighting a Pokemon?"

When the sea inevitably rushes to find the other, much more mysterious imPort doing a Strange Thing, Iris reaches for Oliver's arm, ostensibly to pull him to the side of the road.

"Hey, Oliver," she whispers, waiting until their interlopers have left the scene. "It's been a while."

[ another question, and her ears perk up, tail swishing as she turns. her voice turns a little bit falsely posh, but still with that accent. ] Oh, my name is... Duchess Lollipop van Fancypants. Esquire. [ jester. ] Mmyes, of the Menagerie Coast. I'm a... noblewoman lawyer detective. Part of a dynamic duo, the greatest in Nicodranas! [ and a conspiratorial lean to the nearest camera ] Very big deal, very important.

[ ... okay despite liking this before, this is all getting to be a bit much and maybe too overwhelming. so she reaches into one of her pockets and plucks out a bit of bat fur and a pinch of coal-- ]

Okay gotta go goodbyeeeeee! [ and she drops it, causing a 30 foot wide dome of pitch-black darkness to spread around her, before booking it and breaching it to one side. and ignoring the shouts of confusion around her. ]

But she isn't a Jedi anymore, is she? She doesn't have to play by their rules. She goes silent for a moment, considering it, but all she can see in her mind is Barriss' face as they dragged her away.

It's all wrong.

"So is there a special someone?" A reporter asks, shoving a tape recorder into her face.

"Ugh!" She waves a hand with a scowl, nudging on their minds with the Force. "You have something better to do."

Most of the swarm straightens and turns away at her suggestion. The few that are strong minded enough to resist look around, then quickly decide for themselves that she is probably not worth bothering. Ahsoka leans against a building and groans.

Well. She did want space to figure things out.

Jeopardy

This is, at least, work she's familiar with. Perhaps not this exactly, but it's easy enough. She leaps along from building to building, using the Force to propel her through the air, and pauses when she catches sight of someone in need of assistance. With another leap, she lands in the middle of the swarm, a hand held out as she uses the Force to hold the bugs still.

This would be so much faster with her lightsabers. But she still has the Force, at least.

It only takes about five minutes before she comes back out again. With the perp by the ear and no box cutter in sight. "And that's why she doesn't owe you anything and, really, if this is how you handle rejection, maybe you need to get some therapy. Maybe you should take advantage of that while you're in jail."

She hands him off before turning to her companion. "Sorry about that. You were saying?"

The man suddenly remembers an urgent doctor's appoint. One that he only has enough time to get to if he leaves right now.

Once the man is running to his non-existent appointment, she continues on her way only to notice someone else has seen what she did. Does she need to push you into forgetting this?

Nonah
Being among a crowd of people is safer than being alone, in Kira's experience. She keeps a tight hold of her bag, unwilling to risk anyone making off with it.

There is an upside to being famous. Getting free food without having to push or con anyone for it is a novelty. There's been no hint of trouble and Kira allows herself to relax. She taps the shoulder of the person getting off the VR roller coaster.

Luckily, he's found the perfect cover as soon as he realizes she's noticed him. Such as immediately picking up a discarded broom and pretending to be a janitor or whatever. Do streets need janitors? Probably. But they probably don't have janitors either. What was this broom for then? Maybe cleaning off a storefront. He's seen that in movies. Maybe if he keeps thinking about stupid shit she won't notice him.

bb-8 tries to not react towards the citizens of de chima being so interested in their presence, snapping their picture every minute or so as they continue to roll down the sidewalk. much as it makes them a little nervous to have so much attention on them, they opt to ignore it to the best of their abilities. focus on their mission of meeting up with someone and they can get going.

but like all good plans, wrenches can be thrown into the works and in the most unlikely of ways.

[ bb-8 lets out a loud disapproving series of beeps when a group of citizens step directly into their path. they try to inform the group to, please, step aside and let them move along but, alas, it seems none of them understand binary. that and they're too focused cooing over how cute bb-8 is and trying to take a picture of them.

maybe someone can help the poor droid out...? anyone? anyone? ]

MAURITIAN FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA

[ clearly the answer here is to tackle heartburn to the ground.

much as their self-preservation code demands they stay safe, bb-8 can't stand aside and let others get harmed if there's something they can do. they've already had to do that once with friend-poe and they still regret having to do that.

so, without waiting, bb-8 makes a beeline for heartburn - forcing the import to take a sidestep so bb-8 has right of way - and they ram right into his legs, giving it all they've got in both strength and accuracy. both of them go down as a result, the villain tumbling over the droid, trying to make a grab for bb-8 in the process.

they try to dodge but they're so close that heartburn does manage to grab their head, tugging on it hard and ack! no! stop that now! bb-8 lets loose a series of flurry of noises, trying to either spook the man to let him go or alert someone else for aid. whichever comes first, hopefully...! ]

[ Poe was fairly used to having crowds fawn over him, but it was a rare day when they weren't paying attention to him at all. Instead, everyone seemed very focused and concentrated around someone he couldn't even make out through the crowd. He tried to get a glimpse and couldn't, nearly passing it by until he heard a very familiar series of beeps.

Abruptly, he turned around, and started shoving himself through the crowd until he could see: ]

It may be her appearance, after all, Shmi is nearly fifty, her brown hair decorated with silver and grey threads and her clothing is simple. She doesn't look exceptional, and for that she's grateful. The cameras in her face would be just too uncomfortable, even if she's aware her picture is being taken and she's more interested in the bits and pieces of technology she can understand than she is in answering questions.

But her interest in the technology is her undoing in some ways, as it 'outs' her as an imPort and she soon finds herself somewhat mobbed by young and older alike, both asking her questions about what she can work and (mostly the younger) showing her how others work. It's overwhelming but Shmi tries not to get frustrated, instead laughing a little which is mostly nerves than mirth. "Slow down please, I can't listen to all of you at once."

The hustle and bustle is strange after Mos Espa, but she has been in cities with a buzz like this. Grant it, she was very young then and often shopping for her master rather than looking around for herself. The racks of clothing draw her attention, Shmi gently touching the fabrics and evaluating them along with the cuts and fit of each, not that she is going to buy anything. Or she hadn't - one woman had seemed so taken with the plaits in Shmi's hair that she'd offered her a few hair pins to her, if she'd give people who asked one of the stack of business cards she had presented Shmi with. The pewter color made the silver in her hair look attractive, and tiny blue and purple crystals glittered so nicely she hadn't been able to turn them down.

And the 'food trucks' wrapping into a maze has the most wonderful smells coming from them.

This kind of city existing in the desert is shocking. Not in existing - she knows if the Hutts could create and control something like this on Tatooine they would, but in the tiny robots swarming. And offered a net (and collection basket too!) with a good reward in store, the older woman was most determinedly stalking and hunting the weird little bugs. She has half a basket-full already, even if her skirt is getting a bit tattered as they fight her attempts. She's taken to attempting to herding them, then slamming the net down on the ground and letting the net filter out debris as she lifts several at time to toss into the basket.

Jepoardy

Grievous had no net and he didn't care about the reward - he didn't need a free meal, after all. But these pesky robots were an irritant and they also resembled one of his most hated enemies - except much smaller - so he was currently swatting angrily at them and crushing others underfoot. He was in no mood to simply catch them. They needed to be destroyed...

He flicks another one violently aside and it goes flying - straight into Shmis's basket.

01. Heropa

This wasn't the Midgard Thor had anticipated. One that was not only welcoming to heroes, but bursting at the seams with them. The rest, however, he was accustomed to. Except, perhaps, the scale of the trouble he found. He was used to a more cosmic scale. At least a partial global threat on a regular basis. Maybe an army or two to fight on his own. This seemed completely unfair.

And yet...he was bored.

So when he happened upon the crowd and a sign of trouble, he agreed to intervene. All he needed to know was that someone was in trouble. He walked into the store. And after a few tense moments of silence, the man came sailing through the the front windows. Soon after, Thor himself strode out through the hole he'd made, carrying the girl in his arms. Indifferent to however she might feel about him or the situation.

02. Maurita Falls

Thor just stared at the man as he made his threat, frowning at his costume. It reminded him of the children who wanted pictures with him or his friends. But the moment the man inhaled, and Thor felt the growing heat, he took the situation very seriously.

His hand snapped up and clamped over the man's mouth. "Well, it's very nice to meet you, Heartburn," he said, tension evident in his voice as panic rose in the man's eyes. "We haven't been properly introduced. My name's Thor. Odinson." There was a certain gravitas in his voice as he said it, solid and certain. And as he spoke the name, electricity began to crackle around him, the sky above suddenly darkening with clouds. "Consider this a warning, because..."

He tossed his hammer up in his hand once. Then flung it hard down the street, over the heads of anyone nearby, and caught it firmly in his hand.

"...I'd hate to summon this with you in the way. Which I will not hesitate should you threaten another soul in such a manner." He pulled them man up by his face so they were eye to eye. "Do I make myself clear?"

The man nodded frantically as best he could. And Thor let go, letting him fall to the pavement.

03. Network

[ The handsome, bearded man with an eye patch made a number of expressions that were not meant to be on such a grizzled visage. One might even call them silly. Then he let out a hearty chuckle. ]

I can see why Stark is so fond of such things.

Greetings citizens of...This is still considered Midgard, I believe. It's different from the one I've known. Very different.

My name is Thor Odinson. Of Asgard. In my own realm, I was sworn protector of Midgard. Though you are not the same one, that protection shall continue regardless.

Shmi had pulled back against a building as the hammer flew overhead and followed it with her eyes. The darkening sky also called her attention. Once the man on the ground half-slinks, half-runs away - she can read body language pretty well, it's a life skill, and realized he had less than good intentions, she approached the other man.

Other very large man. And looked up. All the way up at his face. Grizzled and rough she's used to. Even the eye patch isn't that odd. She pointed upwards. "Is that your doing?" She'd never heard of such magic.

[Kate isn't really used to the whole fan interaction thing—at least not on this level. While she thinks she's a badass superhero who should absolutely have more street cred, so to speak, more often than not she gets the whole "Isn't Hawkeye a dude?" and "Who are you again?" thing at home. This is... different. This is people shoving their phones in her face and cornering her. Which is absolutely happening now, as a small gaggle of 20 somethings is firing questions at her at a rapid pace. "Can I get a selfie with you?" One asks, already pulling out his phone. Kate sighs, clearly looking for an easy out.]

Hard pass.

["Do you ImPorts ever, like, use your superpowers in bed? I totally would," another pipes up, and Kate looks absolutely horrified, hands going up as though she can physically ward the words off.]
