a mistletoe (destruction) meme
The Mistletoe Meme

It was a quiet moment in Heropa, FL, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.
The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.
It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in Heropa!

- Comment to the meme with your character(s). Specify if your character is open to kisses, hugs, or both!
- Comment around to other characters, getting trapped in the mistletoe's radius! Or hunting the mistletoe down. Either way, bring on the hugs and/or kisses!
- Have some light, silly, holiday fun!

When did this start happening? Are you able to breathe normally?

[Her eyes shift around nervously. She's hoping that Mr. Kimblee isn't around. Then again, maybe he'd caused this.]
no subject
Only that plan foils itself once she's within a few feet of Winry. ]
I didn't see anyone in the immediate area, but if it's someone's power...
[ Moving to take a step back, Annie finds... she can't. The only direction she can move is forward. What the hell? ]
... Then it's affecting this area. Look, when you can't move, do you feel like you're being held there, or is it something else?
[ Annie feels like she's hitting a solid wall when she attempts to move back, but she damn well knows nothing's there. ]
no subject
[Except she can't take a step back. Or to either side. Nope. That wasn't happening. She can only move forward.]
No...wait.
no subject
Ah... Can you make out what that is, up there?
no subject
Um. Some sort of ball of...
Is that mistletoe?
[She does recognize it from back home.]
no subject
[ She grimaces, the expression fleeting. ]
So you think that's what it is, too.
[ She has no idea if it has the same kind of meanings to Winry as it does in the current context, but hey. Maybe? Maybe not. Maybe there's more than one answer to this puzzle? ]
no subject
[She's squinting and wrinkling her nose.]
no subject
[ No, not really, but the ones putting it up must be. ]
Do you have any traditions you know of relating to that stuff?
no subject
There are some really old ones. The white berry's supposed to represent. [She lowers her voice to a whisper.] Ejaculate. Like a holly berry is supposed to represent menstrual blood.
Does that have something to do with it?
no subject
Maybe in some way. Both are tied in to fertility.
[ Which could... make sense for kissing, which is usually part of what people engage in when likewise planning to engage in acts looking to test how fertile people might be. Not always, of course, but there's a basic mathematics to the equation, regardless of permutations. ]
More modern traditions here involve kissing to some extent.
no subject
Wait, what does that mean for that?
[She tilts her head back to glare at the ball of mistletoe, far overhead.]
no subject
[ First things first: they need an action plan! ]
no subject
This.
[Winry holds up the book she'd grabbed to read. It's kind of heavy. It's not a wrench. But there's a chance she could fling it up there.]
no subject
[ Not that she's made it explicit that they need to kiss or whatever - but if Winry's fast, it can be a brief contact to give them an equally brief window to get this taken care of. ]
no subject
I think I can. What do you think will make the barrier drop?
no subject
[ Totally nonchalant when she says this. ]
no subject
Winry just turns and gapes at her. Completely. Shut down. Like.
Wow.]
Did you just say.
no subject
[ Look, it's not making her ecstatic either. ]
no subject
[A beat while Winry mentally digests this. After all, no one's coming to their rescue, and there are things she needs to do today that doesn't involve being stuck in the library.]
All right. Let's get this over with!
[...]
You'll kiss me and I'll throw, right?
[Because clarification is sometimes very important.]
no subject
[ Yeah. That's the plan of action. Annie doesn't much wait for confirmation, instead moving close and going up on the balls of her feet to press a kiss to Winry's cheek, hand light on her shoulder as a steadying mechanism. Go, Winry! Go! ]
no subject
Watch out! [She yells in warning, hearing a few shocked gasps.
In the meantime, she shoves at Annie, trying to get them both out from under the mistletoe - in case she actually misses.]
no subject
I think you hit it - but if it's still intact...
[ There is still a problem. One they could shrug and walk away from, honestly, and Annie... almost... wants to... she also wants to smash the stupid thing. But hey. Walking away works! ]
no subject
[Grimly. Irritated.]
Let's go find that ball of trouble and get rid of it!
no subject
She sighs inwardly, following after Winry. The Hunt for Green December is on! ]
