The Mistletoe Meme

It was a quiet moment in Heropa, FL, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.

The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.

It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in Heropa!

These would be the extent of her thoughts on Minho if it weren't for the fact in trying to bypass him in this doorway, she finds she. Can't. This is weird enough to remind her of the shields she can generate that Annie actually starts to frown as she adjusts her messenger bag, reaching out to press her hand against something that isn't expressly there. ]

[ it's not terribly unusual to see annie around the parks in heropa, especially not with Rex in tow. right now she's even sitting on a bench under an evergreen to the side of the path by a water fountain, Rex sniffing around the base of the tree at the end of his leash. annie's staring straight ahead, looking up and squinting into the branches every so often.

she was walking the freaking dog and there was mistletoe hidden in the branches of the tree? who the hell hangs this stuff there anyway?! lips pursing, she lets her gaze drop back down and surveys the people passing by. no one native here seems to have been pulled in by this stuff so far... is it targeting imPorts alone?

Annie's cautiously looking upward every so often and attempting to avoid the practical... nothing overhead, to someone watching. Annie's learning some sadist has hung mistletoe all over town, but it's not all obvious, and she's starting to get suspicious of anything leafy as hiding another barrier-erecting leafcluster that's traditionally meant to indicate the spontaneous desire to kiss whoever you're stuck under it with. If she knew more of the actual origins of the tradition, it'd even make more sense, but as it is...

Annie looks like she's carefully not passing under a holiday wreath, walking on the other side of the sidewalk... and coming to a stop as she passes under the garland wrapped around the streetlamp. The garland with mistletoe pinned in the middle. She doesn't even need to look up to know what's happened - there's that same hemmed in feeling all over again. ]

yeah, those plans get screwed over when you hit a mistletoe barrier on the last leg, and your options become drop twenty-five vertical feet and suffer the breaks and heal down there unable to move, with no clear view of the alley entrance, or...

... hang where you have a view and hope someone you know goes by sometime before your arms or legs give out, depending on how you switch up your holds.
