The Mistletoe Meme

It was a quiet moment in Heropa, FL, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.

The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.

It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in Heropa!

[ Annie tentatively pushes through the door where Elsa works, here today to find a railroad tie, of all things. She's spotted one before, decorated with little painted figures on the head of the tie, which is really why she's here. She's just being e x t r a careful looking for mistletoe first.

Nothing seems to be in the doorway... ]

Hello?

[handwringing]

Hello! Um...

[Elsa is by the counter, only a few feet from the door, and what do you know, there's mistletoe hung between her and Annie, and they're both close enough to be stuck under the field.]

Oh! Annie. I seem to be having some trouble...

[That's an understatement.]

[ There it is. The tug that pisses her off, because who designed this bullshit? Annie breathes in, then out, letting the frustration leave as much as she can. ]

Mistletoe.

[ Dratted nemesis! ]

I know two ways of getting out of this - we just need to do something about the mistletoe once we're free.

[ SO IT CAN'T GET THEM AGAIN??? Annie does move closer, frowning for a brief time as she looks up at the mistletoe. ]

[handwringing]

Oh good. [Elsa smiles, relieved. At least Annie seems to know what's going on, because Elsa has no idea.]

How do we get rid of it then? Just tell me what I need to do.

... We hug.

[ Kissing is out there too, but hugs have worked sometimes, so she'd like to start there. Maybe? She doesn't want to leave Elsa feeling as awkward as she's felt today. Besides, Elsa's not a big looming person. This will be easy! ]

Which sounds ridiculous, but the other way is just as ridiculous, if not more so.

[handwringing]

We... hug?

[That's such a strange way of breaking out of things! But she trusts Annie, since she seems to know what's going on.]

That's definitely strange, but it's worth a try. It's not like I have any better ideas. But... we'll have to be careful, of my powers.

[She's definitely keeping her gloves on.]

We'll be okay.

[ Largely because Annie trusts that Elsa will be able to keep herself under control. She bridges the distance between them, opening her arms in a less awkward way than she did with any of the men she's hugged. This is more like with Aracely - and that's easier, for some reason. ]
