The Mistletoe Meme

It was a quiet moment in Heropa, FL, when the next devious plot of an unknown organization was realized. With the holiday season upon all the town, bundles of mistletoe with interference technology hidden in the festive bows and pins holding them together was distributed throughout the town and into all the residences of the imPorts.

The interference technology creates a stasis field keeping imPorts trapped underneath it, protecting the mistletoe itself with a small barrier. However, it only seems able to hold two people at a time, and and the reaction of the nanites to sudden changes in chemistry brought on by embracing or kissing brings the stasis field crashing down, leaving the mistletoe vulnerable to destruction at that time.

It's up to you, imPorts, to break free of these mistletoe traps and destroy all the mistletoe in Heropa!

[Gives Rin an even stare.]

What do you think you're doing? We'll just have to be patient and wait for someone to come by. Ki-- doing that can't be the only way to fix it.

[There aren't any corners to their cage, it's more of a dome. So he isn't cornered so much as very easily curved. Shoulders smacking into the wall that isn't a wall after a handful of steps.]

[Flinch! What's with that grip on his arm and his pulse speeding up? Why does Haru have this constant effect on him? There can't be a just God if Rin can be feeling some tense moment while this dork's being pragmatic.

He's going to try and shake the hand off!]

Do you always kiss people this easy!

[Oh my GOD, Rin!!! They are both strong people, so this ends up being a bit of a struggle.

[Rin? Defensive and overemotional? Aggressive and difficult? Never. Wherever did anyone get that idea? He shoves even as Haru pushes forward, gaze darting around to anywhere that distinctly isn't his rival's face.]

[Time to be the one doing the walling this time- he plants his hands on either side of Rin, braced against the invisible barrier.

It isn't that Haru has experience or knows how to kiss. He just doesn't care.]

Don't you want to leave?

I'm not being ridiculous! You shouldn't kiss someone unless it's precious!

[Romantic. Swimming. Maniac.

Grabbing onto the front of Haru's shirt was instinct, not a logical method of keeping more space between them.]

[Haru cannot even with you, Rin.]

[Sighs.]

Ah.

[Way to defuse a cherry bomb (get it), Haru. That line suckerpunches the high energy right out of him.]

Yeah. Why?

Then, as friends, isn't it okay?

[He doesn't smile, but his gaze softens.]

Kissing as friends?

[He has heard that Americans like to do that kind of thing, but he hasn't seen much of it since being 'Ported over here.]

Mm. [His hands fall to Rin's shoulders, and he tests his limits by stepping closer.] It can be precious this way, too.

[Frowns.

Frown deepens.

But then his eyes squint and there's gathering wetness there. Rin is touched, deeply. From one emotional reaction to the next. He'll let Haru slip in closer, feeling oddly fragile right now, even though he's taller, muscular (for a speedy swimmer).]

[He'll take that as a yes.

He can't help but smile a one-pixel smile- Rin will always be Rin, some things definitely never change.

Rin is taller but not by much, so Haru doesn't have to get on his toes and he doesn't have to tug Rin down to his height. He just moves in, going by what he's seen in movies because he's definitely never done this before, head angled for a kiss.]

[Their lips meet. Press. Rin's were dry up until the last second when his tongue flicked out to wet them. They're chapped, beneath the slickness, and it only lasts a moment before he feels the forcefield buckle behind him. He stumbles.]

[Haru falls forward as well, as he'd been leaning against Rin and hadn't really counted on the barrier just suddenly disappearing like that oops.]

[That's around the time Rin goes all Bollywood heroine and falls on his back, Haru dragged down along with him into a tangle of awkward teenage boys. Above them, the mistletoe is on the fritz. They should be destroying it.

Rin's just staring up at Haru, feeling incredible embarrassment.

[Oops, sorry, Rin. Haru sort of got the better end of the deal on that fall... He props himself up, looking down at Rin in concern.]

Are you all right?

[sharkweak]

[Turns his head! His shoulders and butt sting a tad from the fall, but the pain isn't so bad he can't expect it to fade to nothing in a couple minutes. A hand pushes up through his bangs.]
