01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change? Why if they weren't around, I bet the Soviets--" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "You couldn't do what they do even if you had powers. They don't have to help us, you know!"

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately, contrasted by headlines broadcasting petty, unimportant local news and no worldly news.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and thank them for their hard work. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. Advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, merchandise, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

Yeah, sure. Lemmie know if you need anything else, alright?

[And she's sprawling out on the bench, spraaaawl. She'll be there a while, watching everyone.]

[ And she zips off down the street to eat as much free food as she can convince people to give her. (a lot. it's a lot of food.) ]

Don't do anything stupid!

[It was advice she suspected would be ignored, but Chloe offered it anyway, with a wave.]

[fayzedandconfused]

[ About an hour later, Brianna returns to the bench where she last saw Chloe. At some point along the way, she lost her beanie, but otherwise she looks like she hasn't gotten into too much trouble. ]

Hey! You're still here.

[helladoomed]

[Chloe is sprawled out on her back on the bench now, one leg up over the back at her knee, the other foot resting out over the far handle. She's got her blazer off and is using it as a pillow as she slowly reads through the power section of her pamphlet again.]

Hey kid.

[She turns to peer at her and blinks.]

You lost your hat.

[fayzedandconfused]

Oh. [ She feels the top of her head and shrugs. ] Yeah, that happens.

[ She climbs onto the bench, steps over Chloe's outstretched leg, and balances on the back of the bench again. ]

Whatcha doing?

[helladoomed]

[Well, if she didn't care, Chloe wasn't gonna push the issue.]

Tryin' to figure out this power shit.

No luck so far.

[fayzedandconfused]

What do you think substance abuse means? I've never even heard of that kind of power.

[helladoomed]

I thought it was some kind of shot about the smoking. [Chloe assumes a lot of things are insults.]

But it's gotta do something right?

[fayzedandconfused]

It helps me use my powers when I use my hands. Try that.

[ She demonstrates by swishing her hands in the air, which really doesn't demonstrate anything, but she looks at Chloe expectantly. ]

[helladoomed]

[Chloe looks skeptical, but she sits up at least, boots thumping against the ground. She just looks at her hands, but doesn't do anything yet.]

What are your powers anyway?

[fayzedandconfused]

Super speed. Faster than a speeding bullet.

[ She says this without any sense of irony, considering how she told Chloe she died. ]

[helladoomed]

[That just gets a raised eyebrow and no comment, because come on, she's like thirteen, Chloe won't be that mean.]

Right. Okay so...hands.

[She makes a couple random gestures with her hands, but nothing happens.]

[fayzedandconfused]

Concentrate. Take deep breaths. That's what we used to have to do at Coates before we got used to using our powers.

[ She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, like she's about to start meditating, then opens her eyes and winks. ]

[helladoomed]

[She rolled her eyes.]

I can't believe I'm getting powers advice from a superfast rugrat.

[Said mostly good naturedly, but she put her pamphlet down and closed her eyes, trying to steady her breathing.]

[fayzedandconfused]

[ She rolls her eyes right BACK, but stays quiet, watching to see if anything happens. ]

[helladoomed]

[More waiting, more concentrating...finally she lets out a frustrated breath and her eyes open.]

Fuck. I think I need like...some kind of clue what is supposed to happen before I can actually make it happen.

[fayzedandconfused]

Jeez.

[ They could have at least told Chloe how to use her powers, if they're that complicated to figure out. She's glad she never had this problem. ]

You'll probably just have to experiment for a while. I had to do that before I got mine totally figured out.

[helladoomed]

Or I have to have something really shitty happen. That's how my friend Max found hers.

[Such a fun thing to remember.]

I bet you just tripped and suddenly went to fast, right?

[fayzedandconfused]

Yeah, maybe we should go shove you off a roof and see if you land in a pile of cigarettes. [ Ha ha, she thinks she's hilarious. ]

[helladoomed]

[She just laughed.]

OKay, that'd actually be pretty awesome. But horrible, I already smoke too much anyway.

[She sighed.]

Besides, that would be a...

[She had pointed at Breeze to make her point, but then froze because...she was holding a cigarette between her fingers.]

[fayzedandconfused]

Hey, you did it!

[ She looks impressed. ]

[helladoomed]

Yeah but...

[She frowned at the cigarette, bringing it up to exmaine it more closely.]

How?

[fayzedandconfused]

Dude, who cares how? You made it work. That's what matters.

[ She shrugs. From her experience, most people's power comes from something they need or want. ] You probably just wanted one, so you made it appear.

[helladoomed]

[Chloe groans.] No kid, I mean...how did I make it work?

[She's kind of turning the cigarette over in her hands, looking for anything that makes it different from the ones in her pack.]
