MOM CAN YOU DROP ME OFF? (IN RUSSIA?)

01. The city of Heropa is what one might expect from a small, bright and cheery place. The locals are friendly enough and local shop owners might offer a free drink to welcome you to their fair city. Some of the locals might thank you for always lending your service to the nation and others might not say anything. In fact, some people might back away from any imPort who quite obviously looks like they aren't from around the neighborhood. Once in a while there's a look of disdain on someone's face and hushed voices. A snippy voice wonders aloud: "My taxes are going to their parties and other expenses? When are they going to do something for us for a change? Why if they weren't around, I bet the Soviets--" These naysayers may, however, find themselves hushed with a judgmental: "You couldn't do what they do even if you had powers. They don't have to help us, you know!"

02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, and though it's quieter, there are just as many citizens awed at your presence. Heavy winds have people grasping at their newspapers and constantly brushing hair out of their faces, but that doesn't distract them from crowding you in excitement if you're obviously from a different time or world, or just let it slip that you're a newcomer. Children and young teenagers are especially likely to ask for an autograph and a photo.

Some locals seem less enthused to see you. They never make an approach, but they can be overheard scoffing and muttering something about cameras and an incident involving gas. "Biological warfare... we sure some of them haven't defected?"

03. Maurtia Falls, Pennsylvania, is normally known for being a little more on the apathetic side, but there's been tension in the atmosphere lately, contrasted by headlines broadcasting petty, unimportant local news and no worldly news.

People are not as friendly in this city and go out of their way to avoid walking down the same sidewalk as the more obvious looking imPorts pass through. Local cops say nothing, but they scowl at those imPorts and mutter under their breaths resentfully about "vigilantes". However, not all locals turn the other way seeing imPorts; some of them will offer a polite enough smile and thank them for their hard work. They don't stop to clarify what they mean, though.

04. Nonah, North Carolina, is the liveliest of all cities. It's loud, busy and there's some kind of energy in the air that gets everyone buzzing with excitement. Anyone who they come to determine an imPort is bombarded with all sorts of offers; job offers, advertising gigs, spokesperson for advocating children stay in school, etc. Anything and everything! You name it. Shops offer discounts for food and clothing, whatever they need. Advertisements are abound for imPorts to make appearances at various, televised celebrations, luring them in with promises of free food, merchandise, and payment. ImPort action figures and merchandise are on sale now, and every corner's coffee shop is still serving festive peppermint goods of every shape and form.

Hmm. [Chloe seems to look her over for a minute, trying to decide if that's true. Then she reaches out suddenly and ruffles the kid's hair.]

Okay. Aim for...innocent. Cute would be good too. And lemmie do the talking, alright?

[And off she heads towards the stores.]

[ Brianna rolls her eyes and attempts to fix her hair. It's probably a lost cause. ]

I am cute. [ Innocent, not so much, but she can fake that, at least. She follows Chloe, glad she doesn't have any weapons on her right now. ]

[Chloe just rolls her eyes. The stores are full of people shouting for imports, and she picks one out that looks like it probably sells clothes in Brianna's size...she's not positive there will be leather jackets, but hey, beggers can't be chooser.]

Hey! [She approaches the guy standing outside before he can shout out to them.] How'd you like the satisfaction of knowing there was an import out there acting like a walking advertisement for your store, huh?

[She gestures towards Brianna. Time to shine, kid.]

[ Brianna grins and waves. She can look really cute when she wants to, despite the bloody clothes. Even though Chloe told her not to say anything, she can't resist hamming it up a bit. ]

I love this place already.

[For once, hamming it up seemed to work. As the guy is almost immediately convinced.]

Hmm. Alright ladies, come on in. She can pick out whatever she wants. But she has to wear it the rest of the day, deal?

[Chloe immediately nods and ushers Brianna in.]

You won't regret this.

[And then to her.]

You the heard the man. Go crazy, kid.

Oh my god.

[ She can't believe that actually worked. This is basically the coolest thing that's ever happened to her in her life, except for waking up with superpowers. This is the kind of thing she dreamed about back before the FAYZ, when she was stuck at Coates Academy, and then again when the Dome went transparent and she could see all the people watching her every move. This is what it's like to be famous.

She zips into the store, for the first time since her arrival really kicking on the speed, but once she gets in there and sees all her options, she comes to a sudden stop, unsure where to start. ]

Holy shiii... [ Wait, probably not the best thing to say if she's going to be representing this store, or whatever. ]

[SHe'll get a little bap on the back of the head from Chloe at the swear, as she comes to a stop behind her, because they are trying to pull a con here dammit.]

What do you usually like to wear?

I don't know. Cool stuff.

[ She picks up a denim jacket with stars patched onto the elbows. ] What's cool these days?

[ It's been over a year since she's had any options, and a year in fashion is like... a really long time. ]

[Chloe looks at the jacket, then down at herself. She's wearing a t-shirt that's almost a whifebeater with a skull on it, that makes no effort at all to hide her bra, a men's blazer she was pretending was a jacket, and torn up jeans.]

Iiiiiii am probably not the right person to ask that question.

I wish Max were here, she's a little hipster, she'd know what you need.

Okay. Okay, I got this.

[ She zips around the store, grabbing at clothes and accessories as she passes by, until she has what she thinks is probably a pretty cool outfit. ]

Be right back I'm gonna— [ Before she's finished her sentence, she's running into one of the changing stalls and slamming the door behind her. ]

[Chloe actually burst out laughing when the girl disappeared into the changing room, shrugging at the clerk.]

She's very energetic.

[ A few seconds later, Brianna emerges from the changing room wearing a totally new outfit. Jeans, a tank top, an unzipped hoodie, and a beanie. It's kind of Chloe Lite, but at least it's not identical. That would just be embarrassing. ]

So?

[Oh jesus. At least it wasn't exactly the same. Chloe almost snatched the beanie off her head but managed to stop herself by biting her tongue.]

You look good, kid. Not what I was expecting, but what do I know, right?

[She glances over at where the clerk is standing by the counter, watching them. Her voice drops some.]

Come on, let's motor before he changes his mind.

Cool. Can you get us some free food?

[ Hey, she got them free clothes. ]

Now that one is easy.

[She hurries the girl back outside.]

Take the hoodie or roll the sleeves up so they can see your tattoo, then go for a walk down...that street.

[She points to the next street over.]

There's about eight restaurants there and they will be dying to get you to try something.

[Chloe, meanwhile, moves over towards a bench nearby.]

Excellent.

[ She rolls her sleeves up. ]

You're not coming?

Nah. I ate earlier. I'm just gonna hang out over there.

[She nods towards the bench, and she's already pulling out her pack of cigarettes.]

Okay.

[ The idea of anybody saying no to food is totally alien to her, but she guesses this is a different place. Nobody looks starving, that's for sure. ]

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, sure. Lemmie know if you need anything else, alright?

[And she's sprawling out on the bench, spraaaawl. She'll be there a while, watching everyone.]

Sure. Later.

[ And she zips off down the street to eat as much free food as she can convince people to give her. (a lot. it's a lot of food.) ]

Don't do anything stupid!

[It was advice she suspected would be ignored, but Chloe offered it anyway, with a wave.]

[ About an hour later, Brianna returns to the bench where she last saw Chloe. At some point along the way, she lost her beanie, but otherwise she looks like she hasn't gotten into too much trouble. ]

Hey! You're still here.

[Chloe is sprawled out on her back on the bench now, one leg up over the back at her knee, the other foot resting out over the far handle. She's got her blazer off and is using it as a pillow as she slowly reads through the power section of her pamphlet again.]

Hey kid.

[She turns to peer at her and blinks.]

You lost your hat.

Oh. [ She feels the top of her head and shrugs. ] Yeah, that happens.

[ She climbs onto the bench, steps over Chloe's outstretched leg, and balances on the back of the bench again. ]

Whatcha doing?

[Well, if she didn't care, Chloe wasn't gonna push the issue.]
