WOW, I SAID I'D DO IT, AND IT HAPPENED?

Welcome to the first PLOTTING MEME of 2015!
DIRECTIONS:
Either:
1. Make a post for each plot you'd like to either see or discuss running
2. Fill out the below form for each plot you'd like to discuss describing:
PLOT: What type of plot?
WHO'S RUNNING IT: Are you wanting to run this plot, or wish someone else would? Maybe you'd like to collaborate?
DURATION: How long will the plot be in effect?
AFFECTED: Who will be included in this plot? How can we participate?
FALLOUT: Do you wish this plot to have a permanent effect on the world, or just temporary fun? How will it affect the imports and the setting? Will there be any reward/memento from the event?
DETAILS: Here you can pitch the idea in detail, explaining why such a plot would be fun, what you'd like to see happen, and just your general picture.
3. Answer any questions people might have about your plot and work towards setting it in motion!
OR:
Tag people's ideas and share your own insights, make suggestions or just give them support by letting them know you're interested and would like to see this plot happen!
HEROPIAN GLADIATOR
WHO'S RUNNING IT: I am down for this sickness. Though I'd really appreciate some collaboration with interested parties.
DURATION:A few days, but maybe recurring? Like every other month?
AFFECTED: Combatants that wish to sign up
FALLOUT: If set in a VR world, it could become a national "sport", raising select imports to celebrity status, increase relation with natives, a good outlet for more violent imports.
DETAILS: The core of my idea is to have it set in a Virtual Reality setting like the Government's Sidereal technology, or something similar. This way Imports can fight and use their abilities without restriction or fear of harming others or themselves. Fully televised.
I was thinking there could be different editions, or events that take place whenever people want. The setting would give us flexibility to do anything from host classic tournaments, design gauntlets and challenges for combatants to overcome (Such as the program American Gladiator and Lost Temple), or run large scale events like simulated military action against NPC soldiers/monsters/ or other threats.
My major challenge is how we GET this VR tech. The Sidereal tech is closely guarded by the Government and is only accessible by those they trust. Revan will hopefully be able to make such a request here soon, being ambassador and all now. But if there was another avenue I'd be all for it.

So for example, if there's gratuitous property damage in a fight, that's worth $1000 extra, if there's blatant sexual tension between combatants, that's $5000 raised from an enthusiastic audience. The challenge for players then becomes crafting a fight thread that incorporates as many of these 'checkboxes' as possible, to make their Gladiators successful stars. While characters may genuinely be competing with each other, players will be collaborating to craft the most bombastic, memorable and epic action sequence they can.
And if it's all for charity and fun, it provides an IC justification for the government to grant access to the Sidereal tech!

Bombs away
WHO'S RUNNING IT: Me though it's pretty obviously my first so I'm open to advice, commentary, whatever
DURATION: Started in Jan, the original plan was to wrap up in March
AFFECTED: Anyone who wants to be. Stuff is getting blown up it would probably be in the news but it's not like anyone's house is going to go boom.
FALLOUT: Some dead NPCs, some property damage. Maybe some people not trusting imPorts so much. Not an actual war sadly. Kimblee's ass winding up in prison in the end.
DETAILS: So a couple of places got blown up in January with the idea of making it looking like it was Russian terrorists and getting whole Cold War thing to be a bit more interesting. Instead people weirdly enough suspected the guy who
gets off onreally likes explosions and now there are fingers pointing in his direction.I'm sorting out a few details but I hope to have the next bombing log happening sometime soon with something more for characters to do than just rescue/investigate.
Main thing at the moment is if anyone would, in the wake of Ed's announcement over here, drag Kimblee off to the police. I'm happy to work stuff out if that's the case although obviously I'd like to avoid him actually winding up in prison just yet. The original plan was to have him getting caught in March but if it makes more sense for him to get caught after the second set of attacks then that's cool with me too.
Obviously an OOC planning post will go up prior to the next attacks so we can work stuff out there but if anyone has something to bring up now then hit me up!

IMPORT CONVENTION
WHO'S RUNNING IT: I would, and anyone who's interested? panelists, whatev?
DURATION: Probably over a weekend in March
AFFECTED: Whoever wants to be!
FALLOUT: There probably won't be any?? I MEAN POSSIBLY IF PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF FANART OF THEMSELVES.
DETAILS: I asked a question to the mods about conventions a while back and got a really interesting response about imPort conventions and whatever comes along with that! So fanworks of the current imPort population, panelists (possibly a few imPorts??) and imPort mingle etc etc! Just a little fun slice-of-life kinda thing to show the imPorts just how far their influences on the population go. There are still some details to hammer out with the mods (as in I haven't asked for anything specific yet), but I thought the idea might be low-key and fun for all of those who want ... well, fanart of themselves jfdklsl.

there must ALWAYS be a train accident
WHO'S RUNNING IT: Me?? US???
DURATION: A one-time deal
AFFECTED: Heroic hero sorts, techy hacker sorts, injured victim sorts...literally anybody?
FALLOUT: Nothing world-scarring, more of an event you can exploit for your own enjoyment
DETAILS:
This is more just a happening than a plot-plot, but I did want to set some feelers out to see if you want a little action.
A train derails, disaster out in the middle of nowhere. A call is made, and tech-savvies can pinpoint location and give that info to those who want to do the search and rescue. Said heroics can even reach out to those offsite medical for more interaction, and there can be opportunities for onsite techies (or offsites coaching heroes) on the ground to prevent any electronics from catching fire.
There can also be like a bridge or a river or some other obligatory hazard.
I can think of a ton of ways lots of different kinds of people can get involved, so let me know if this sounds like a fun way to kill a bit of time :> If there's enough, I can ensure it's OK to do/ping abt timing and things and get that fun underway

Did anyone say 'Kaiju'? I knew someone did. Probably me. Beside the point.
WHO'S RUNNING IT: I'd be happy to, with some help.
DURATION: Oh, geeze, at least a week Two weeks? I'd love it if it went on longer, but giant monsters get annoying after a while. Ho hum, Godzilla attacked Tokyo again...and let's not forget about cleanup duties. Giant Monster Poop is probably hazardous to one's (anyone's) health. Might grow some amazing crops after tempered, though.
AFFECTED: ImPorts! Locals! Cities! Countries! THE ENTIRE WORLD. *cough*
FALLOUT: The aforementioned dead bodies of monsters, monster waste, possible nuclear fallout depending on what's used to destroy said monsters. I think the reward would be survival, more than anything. Yay, we beat the monsters...! ow, ow, ow, I think I broke something - IS THAT JOHNNY?!?! JOHNNY DEAD? NO, JOHNNY, NO!!! etc.
DETAILS: Russia, aliens dun it, Evil Mad Scientists (TM), nuclear waste caused it, weird things happening with the Porter? Whatever it is, GIANT MONSTERS rise up out of the ocean, or deserts, or Himalayas, or wherever, and start attacking, because you just can't reason with creatures like that, especially when they've been woken from a billion years of sleep or, well, you know the drill.
Military and ImPorts combine all over the world to fight the nasties. Some may die (good thing they can be resurrected, yes?)! Possibly the monsters are beaten back to wherever they came from and...ooops, they could return at a later date? Or they've gone into hiding. Because Giant Monsters always make for fun times for all.

are the monsters themselves going to be horrendously toxic in some way like pacrim kaiju or are they just gonna be regular (?) gigantic awful monsters from the depths
(no subject)
no subject
Three suggestions:
1) Monsters spawn parasites or baby monsters so characters not powerful enough to harm the big ones have an enemy more their size
2) When the kaiju attack, the Government reveals that it has a super-secret giant mecha program lying in wait for exactly this kind of situation. Characters without the raw power to fight kaiju get made pilots. This gets stuck in everyone's head.
3) Players signing up their characters get the chance to fill out a form to create their own monster- either something original, or something Ported in from a fictional canon. Players have the option of 'DMing' their monster NPC during combat, or just letting the characters fighting it control its actions in the thread.
4) Plenty of prompts for disaster response/rescuing/healing/organizing so non-combat characters get involved in the effort to Save Humanity.

A NEST FOR IDEAS
no subject
WHO'S RUNNING IT: Me and whoever else is interested!
DURATION: Maybe one month? It would be a slow-burning open log.
AFFECTED: Participating characters, characters living in Maurtia Falls, ImPort criminals whose players volunteer them to have their lives made more difficult.
FALLOUT: New CR is formed, and maybe Maurtia Falls becomes safer and less corrupt. A little bit, at least.
DETAILS: As has been long-established ICly, Maurtia Falls is basically Pennsylvania’s answer to Mos Eisley Spaceport. This plot would see heroically-inclined characters come together on a coordinated month-long blitz aiming to clean up the streets and the corridors of power, to show what a difference ImPort heroes can make for justice.
In terms of organization, I’m picturing Network posts for organization and cooperation, and just a simple open log set throughout the month with a variety of prompts for players to play off of, depending on what best suits their characters. One prompt might feature standard street-patrolling, on the lookout for common muggers and burglars, while other prompts would focus on efforts to root out corruption in the local government and police through investigation and hacking. There would also be opportunities for lower-key CR building at whatever location ends up serving as the command base for this operation. This would be a plot for detectives, combat experts, and any character who wants to help make a difference- or for criminal players, have their “business” threatened.

Science experiments you can do in your neighbourhood
WHO'S RUNNING IT: Myself and any interested parties? Taking my first crack at this. I'm all open to collaboration, heroes.
DURATION: A few days; Crane's study will occur during the swear-in chaos that engulfs the city. If it works well, I'm down for extending it into an investigative thing that can crop up for another two months, as he refines his tests two more times, or if players want to play CSI Heropa.
AFFECTED: 5 NPCs in the burning neighbourhood to the south. Whoever wants to involve their characters. You'll be helping to rescue or even restrain NPCs who are in a panicked state. Example: an affected NPC will break into a house to rescue somebody, and need saving themselves.
FALLOUT: One NPC will die. Another may suffer irreperable damage. It's main priority is a fun mini-event.
DETAILS:
Fire's raging in the southern neighbourhood.
Crane's going to attempt to take advantage of the chaos to affect 5 NPCs with his hormone manipulation powers. The NPCs will be in a high emotional state; unable to feel fear, they will believe themselves invincible, and believe their idea to break into a burning house to save their neighbour or treasured possessions is a really good one. They will have some side-effects as a result of too much Oxytocin. Which can be chosen by whoever encounters them. Just google ocytocin side-effects, but here's a small bucket-list as an example:
Chest-pain and a pounding heart
Chest-tightness and shortness of breath
Fainting
Light-headedness
Convulsions: rare
This is where you come in, hero. They may die, or you can save their lives. You might need to restrain them. You might take it as just a natural panic-reaction to the trauma of what's going on. Or you might, just might, think something's really dodgy and want to investigate.
I hope this plot will estabilish something for heroes to investigate. It's easily started by an autopsy revealing an abnormal level of oxytocin. It a hormone that regulates trust and attachment... but also modifies fear and anxiety. Crane's the sort to plan and wait, act quickly, and then fly under the radar. But he's also an opportunist. My hope he'll give the heroes something to chew on for a while.
