aww yeah it's question meme time
Time to bring back one of my old faves...

Simple and easy! Here's how it goes:
1. POST a top-level with your character name
2. REPLY to other people's top-level with a question for that character
3. ANSWER the question you were asked
4. ASK a question of that person's characters in return!
We go back and forth like this asking questions in a thread until one or both of us runs out of questions!
QUESTIONS CAN BE ANYTHING. Serious or silly as you want! What does Jane think of (x)? What does Sarah have for breakfast? How many times a day does Alex masturbate? What's Tom's dream job? The only limit for questions is your imagination.
Replies can be as monosyllabic or as tl;dr are you want; it's up to you. Go wild kids!

also if jaime could have three things from home, what would they be?

If he got to specify a length of time (one day), and if his family count as 'things', then it would be his father, his mother and Milagro. This would actually be a terribly unwise choice because half the day would be spent hugging them and sobbing grossly on them and the rest of the day would probably consist of trying to do damage control while Mama Reyes goes to town on whoever's in charge to which Jaime would only be able to be dragged off by his ear going "mom" "mom no" "mom please no". It would not be a stress-free day.
If we're talking things... one would be Ted Kord's journal, which would be a little bit creepy considering that the dude is alive and well in Heropa, but Jaime is not-so-secretly a big ol' fanboy and actually quotes passages from it in his head like a big nerd when he needs inspiration so CLEARLY HE NEEDS IT. The second would be a jacket, because he's sensible, a good one is expensive, he's just been wearing his own biological waste whenever he gets cold, and he's beginning to gross himself out. The third is kind of cheating because all of the Reyes' earthly possessions got exploded by the Reach, but if he could snatch it back in time, he'd go for his mom's photo album. He actually does have pictures that he printed out of his armour that he has hanging on a corkboard on his wall, but it'd be nice to have some nice ones as opposed to freeze frames the Scarab considerately plucked out of its memory banks.
oops that was a teensy bit long ANYWAY QUESTION FOR BART: what would his reaction be if YJ!Jaime were to show up? Would he be very straightforward in his happiness to see his bff again, or is it slightly more complicated now that interdimensional shenanigans have come into play?
no subject
........ oh man dat question
Okay so, the thing about Bart's bffness with Jaime is that its kind of one sided??? And he knows that and just sort of shrugs about it because Bart never had friends before so he'll take what he can get. But. Yeah, back home Jaime's bff's with Ty, has been friends with the Team for way longer, and he and Bart are just, y'know, kinda good friends? But Bart actually does feel a little uh- bad. About not noticing that Jaime was all Reach controlled and that he just totally believed him when he saw Green Beetle shoving his fingers all up in Blue's scarab.
So there's... that. And there's the fact that comics!Jaime has been his friend here in Heropa for just as long as non Reach controlled Jaime has, and will eventually have been his friend for longer and it's- it's really weird.
He'd be happy to see the Jaime who's a little snappier and sarcastic with him and was a part of the things Bart went through back in his universe but it's also- he doesn't know. They're both his friends (and he'd consider them his best friends tbh) and they're both similar but they're both different, too. And he really doesn't know.
If he could have both yj!jaime and comics!jaime to hang out with in heropa it would be the actual best thing ever. If yj!jaime showed up and comics!jaime was gone? He'd be happy to see a him who knew him at least a little back before getting alternate dimension-napped, b u t. He'd also miss comics!jaime and it'd be horrible because he'd know he would... never actually see that version of him again.
It's all weird and horrible and Bart would honestly never be 100% happy about any situation that didn't involve everyone he's friends with being in the same place s-sob.
JAIME HOW MUCH WOULD YOU JUDGE BART'S INTELLIGENCE IF YOU KNEW HE HONESTLY DOESN'T KNOW THE SCARAB TALKS TO YOU?

also does he sing in the shower? or anywhere else? Is he any good at it? I WANT TO KNOW ALL ABOUT JAIME'S VOCAL ABILITIES.
no subject
He probably sings a little in the shower, but not much, and usually without words. I figure he's generally the sort of guy to listen more for the tune while going lyrics? WHAT LYRICS? Annnnd... the shower or when nobody's listening is the only time you'll hear him actually singing bc he doesn't think he's any good at it, and will totally get embarrassed if he's caught at it. His voice is actually a little better than he thinks it is - it's fairly pleasant, if not a little off-key, but nothing special.
He will, however, sing loudly and purposely off-key with friends for fun. And by with friends, I mean with Paco, and by for fun, I mean mostly to annoy Brenda.
QUESTION BACK ATCHA... let's keep on going with music. What music does Shinji like? Does he actually like any music at all or is it just background noise to him?
no subject
Drumming it on fingertips or with a pen, just generally being a nuisance, sheesh.
IF I WAS PICKING ACTUAL MUSIC i would be heavily biased towards whatever i have been listening to lately because I'm not that great with music association derp. So idk, whatever random bullshit that's interesting to listen to but without being like- oppressively heavy.(You can tell how musically versed I am right here). I don't think he'd have the patience for like.. electronica or dubstep or techno because after the first 15 seconds WOW IS THERE LIKE 5 MORE MINUTES OF THIS, UGH.... so he probably does not have many favourites.
Continuing with music, I don't.... think he would be able to sing very well at all, lmao. MAYBE WITH PRACTICE but goddamn one he would be way too self conscious, and two he barely ever raises his voice above that weird gravelly grumbling he does, anyway. it would just be terrible for everyone involved.
SO, HOW'S JAIME ON THE RELATIONSHIP FRONT. Does he ~like~ anyone? Or is that completely off the table in MoM? What are his feelings there?

Technically Jaime can't stop Wally from doing whatever the fuck he wants. Jaime can't seem to stop anyone from doing whatever the fuck they want so he has come to terms with doing damage control especially with WALLY'S LITTLE COUSIN AHEM AHEM
ANYWAY Jaime is actually secretly kind of pleased that the Scarab decided to text Wally, and Wally just rolled with it, because that's progress! The Scarab got through an entire conversation without questioning Wally about his intentions or threatening him! SUCH PROGRESS. You text Khaji all the emotes you like, Wally.
QUESTION FOR WALLY: what does he think of the Scarab texting him, anyway? Is he used to enough weird stuff that he just shrugs it off or does he find it at least a little offputting?

Or anything else you have to say about Jaime's dentistry aspirations because it's cute.
no subject
And realistically, he'll probably end up as a family dentist, but he does like kids a lot! He will absolutely have that little trunk of tiny toys for the kids that come in, and he'll end up having to by extras of everything because he'll keep on giving more than one away because he's a big old sucker. I also like to think that he'll end up working for the Justice League as well and takes a look at all the superheroes' punched in teeth because the mental image of Dr. Reyes lecturing Batman about proper flossing techniques is too good to resist.
AND BACK TO ELSA: How did the adjustment to suddenly not being royalty go for her? Were there any particular speedbumps in having to cope with that? Is there anything specific she really loves about it, beyond... being able to leave her bedroom?
no subject
Elsa actually doesn't consider herself queen anymore, so it's a relief that no one really knows here and she doesn't have to do the "I don't really want to be queen" song and dance. If she didn't have all her problems with her powers she'd be happy being queen but right now she can only see it as a mistake to put her on the throne. So she's pretty happy with where she is.
That said, it's still been an adjustment. Even with their reduced staff, Elsa was still used to being waited on and had a lot done for her. She was a little spoiled! There's a lot of things she has to do now that she never really thought about doing, like washing clothes (thank God for washing machines). But she didn't really interact with her subjects enough to get used to being addressed as queen or anything so she's not missing much there.
She loves not being queen right now. Less responsibility, less pressure. At this juncture she's pretty sure she would be happy working in the antique store the rest of her life. She probably won't feel that way forever, though.
FOR JAIME, what's his favorite thing to do on a vacation or time off with his friends and family?

So sorry Gar, but you'll not be hearing any Spanglish out of this guy! BOOMERANGING A QUESTION BACK AT YOU if Gar had the ability to look like a normal human boy again, is that the default appearance he'd take on, or is his green monkey form too big a part of his identity now?

BOOM. QUESTION. does jaime prefer working with a team or flying solo when it comes to hero business?

...but enter Heropa where all of a sudden he has all sorts of new friends out of necessity, and he's stuck trying to navigate when exactly they count as being a good enough friend to tell, whether or not they'll understand why it's a secret, whether or not they'll freak out, etc., etc., etc. There are several people he would like to tell, but he's a little scared to do it.
So instead of telling everyone he feels close to, he's just not telling anyone, which is clearly working out great for him, because instead he just feels kind of guilty for not telling anyone and keeps... not telling anyone... well done, Jaime. 10/10.
If Ellie had the choice to, would she stay here in this universe forever? If she doesn't feel any particular tie to her home universe but doesn't want to stick around in this universe, do any of the universes of her friends appeal to her?
no subject
Bravo Jaime, though. You are a true winner. Does it ever occur to him that people may be more annoyed that he hid it?
Hmm there's a part of her that would want to stay here forever. Even with her suspicions about the government this place is still five thousand times better than the universe where she's from. For instance it's a planet that isn't about to be destroyed by space zombies! And the Earth here is really really pretty.
The only thing that would hold her back is the fact that there's someone from home she really misses and she could never choose to stay here knowing he was still alive back home. She's interested in the worlds her friends come from, but the same tie would hold her back from going there. If she could choose ANYTHING she'd bring Carver here and then stay here.
What's his favorite thing about this place?

This is a tricky one to expand, because most of his supporting cast isn't available! What I've been having the most fun with is the fact that Jaime's emotional bonds, while extremely strong, are not far reaching; he doesn't have that many friends. Being here forces him to create an all new support group that he's not nearly as comfortable with, and more importantly, to impart being Emotionally Healthy with the more damaged corners of any jamjar. He's also slightly less emotionally healthy, but again, jamjars. :')
And back at you! Seeing as T&B is comprised of corporate superheroes, how has Barnaby coped with this shift into doing the whole hero gig as volunteer work? What does he think of it?
no subject
Barnaby doesn't care for pro-bono hero work. He sees it as a valid occupation, just like any other job, and he can't understand the mentality that getting paid for hero work means you're somehow greedy or morally deficient. With so many experienced heroes in their midst, it seems pretty foolish not to fund at least a small group who can go at it full-time. In his opinion, full-time heroes could help cut down on imPort-related crime, do a more efficient job of protecting the citizens, and shorten response times in the event of a terrorist attack or other emergency.
And, okay, the extra revenue back home was nice too, LOL, but Barnaby would like to use a good portion of his money to help kids in foster homes and orphanages. (Or, in MoM's case, native children in addition to regular imPort kids who don't have any experience supporting themselves, but don't want to register with the government.)
The funny thing is that, unlike a lot of comic book heroes who've wound up in Heropa, Barnaby has more agency under this system than he did back home. But since he finds his corporate employers preferable to the government here (corporations' needs and wants are pretty straightforward, no one is really sure about the government's goals, public money is tied to public opinion, etc), and he's so used to Hero TV's way of doing things, that it's not something he himself yet realizes or has thought about much.
Why does Jaime continue to keep his identity a secret?
